His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 151

Chapter 151

Dwayne went upstairs and asked Connor and Annette to have lunch.

Connor didn't say much and went downstairs with Annette.

Annette found that Alina didn't come for lunch. Because Dwayne was also there, she didn't ask more.

After shopping for the whole morning, she was hungry.

When she drank water, she suddenly thought of the cherry juice she bought for Alina and the fifty dollars she paid.

She said seriously, "Connor, you have to reimburse me for today's expenses."

Connor raised his eyebrows. "OK. Money is not an issue. If you have nothing to do in the future, you can go out and enjoy yourself. I will be glad to see it. After all, I make money to give you a happy life."

Annette blushed. "You are off-topic, okay?

"This morning, when I went shopping with Ms. Grace, I bought two glasses of juice, which were quite expensive. Since Ms. Grace is Lucas' mate, I think you have to reimburse me for Ms. Grace's expenses."

  "No."

  Annette glared at him. "Why?"

"I will only cover your expenses. The others have nothing to do with me." Connor felt that Annette was doing this to her on purpose.

Dwayne lowered his eyes and tried to hold back his smile. He thought, 'It seems that Alpha Connor has met his opponent.'

After lunch, Annette went back to her room to take a nap.

Connor called Dwayne to his study.

He asked, "Did Alina say anything to Annette when they had breakfast this morning?"

Dwayne understood what Connor meant immediately.

He did not dare to lie in front of Connor, and he said honestly, "Ms. Grace told Ms. Hall that you had breakfast with her this morning. But during the meal, you received a call and said that you had to deal with something at the company, so you left."

  Connor's face darkened a little.

"Later, Ms. Grace told me in private that she said so to test Ms. Hall. Ms. Hall did not show any displeasure, and Ms. Grace thought that Ms. Hall did not care about you. She asked me not to tell you about it, so you wouldn't be upset." Dwayne did not hide anything.

Connor's eyes were cold as he said, "I understand. Go back to your work."

  Dwayne left the study.

Connor took his phone and dialed Alina's number.

Alina had always picked up his call immediately.

"Connor," Alina said in a soft and charming voice.

Connor asked coldly, "Why did you lie?"

Alina said aggrievedly, "I did that out of good intentions. You like Ms. Hall so much, and I think if Ms. Hall bought clothes for you, you would be happy."

"I'm not talking about that. You told her that we had breakfast together this morning."

Alina frowned. She felt that Annette had spoken ill of her in front of Connor.

She said angrily, "Is it so important? I didn't expect Ms. Hall to speak ill of me behind my back. In the morning, I just wanted to test her, and the result was not that good. Later, I asked her to go shopping with me and buy clothes for you. If not for you, would I have done that?"

Connor's voice was calm but dignified. "You've crossed the line. Everyone has a unique personality, and your test can't prove anything. Also, both Annette and I appreciate your kindness. She is always honest and direct. I like everything about her, and I treasure my relationship with her."

On the other side of the line, Alina cried.

She covered her left chest tightly and choked with sadness, not able to say a word.

Connor frowned. In the past, whenever he saw her cry, he would compromise.

But now, he had no intention of comforting her.

It turned out that he had changed.

"After so many years, I still can't forget you. I never thought that we would separate. Connor, I can't even help you now, right?" Alina was heartbroken.

"Alina, you should enjoy your life with Lucas. Whatever you do for me, I won't be at ease. Instead, I will feel sorry for Lucas. If you are not happy, Lucas will also be in pain. Your so-called good intentions might make three people suffer at the same time. It is unnecessary. Lucas loves you very much. Forget the past and look forward to the future," Connor said.

"Enough, Connor. I'm sorry for being nosy today. I'm an adult, and I understand everything. It's just that... Thinking and doing are two different things."

After that, Alina hung up the phone.

Connor placed the phone on the table and was silent for a long time.

After a while, he mind linked Lucas.

"Lucas, when do you plan to pick up Alina?"

  "What happened?" Lucas was calm.

"I think it's normal for a couple to quarrel, but one of you has to give in. What do you think?" Connor felt that if Alina stayed there any longer, he would still be in a quandary.

Although he didn't want to hurt Alina, he wouldn't allow her to hurt Annette.

The only way was to send Alina back.

"I can't give in this time," Lucas said. "If I do, I will have nothing left."

"Lucas, what do you mean? What happened?"

  "Didn't she tell you anything?"

  Connor frowned and said, "No."

Lucas sighed slightly. "Let her stay there for a while. When she wants to say it, she will tell you. Just arrange for someone to take good care of her."

Connor could only say, "Okay, I got it."

After ending the call with Lucas, Connor pondered, 'I should think of another way.'

Suddenly, he came up with an idea and looked relaxed.

He stood up and left the study.

Connor went upstairs to his room. Annette was leisurely reading a book in bed.

  He loved Annette's casual appearance.

Annette heard the footsteps behind her. She knew that Connor had returned, so she didn't look back.

Connor walked over. "Annette, there is a notice."

Annette flipped a page of the book, and her eyes were still fixed on it. "I won't listen."

Connor sat down and looked at Annette seriously, "Are you still angry with me? Get up quickly. I guarantee you will be interested in it."

"You should reimburse me for Ms. Grace's drinks first. Otherwise, I won't talk to you."

Annett regretted it. She was so poor, but in a fit of anger, she treated a rich lady for a drink.

Connor glared at her. He got up and went to get his wallet. He took out a card and handed it to her. "This is an unlimited card. You can buy anything you want."

"I don't want it. I want my money."

"Why are you so stubborn? This is the first time I've seen someone refuse money."

"I shouldn't take it," Annette said confidently.

Connor had no choice but to take out fifty dollars and handed it to Annette.
