Chapter 149
Chapter 149
At the shopping mall, Alina pulled Annette to the women's clothing store.
Alina tried on several dresses and then said to Annette, "Ms. Hall, why don't you pick some and try them on? I'll buy them for you."
Annette refused, "Ms. Grace, I don't want to buy clothes today."
"Anyway, the bank card I used was given by Connor. It doesn't matter."
Annette felt her heart ache a little. She continued, "There is no need."
Alina didn't force Annette. She pointed at a coat with a label of "sold" and said, "I would like to try this one."
The shop assistant apologized, "Ms. Grace, I'm sorry. The coat has been sold."
Alina raised her eyebrows and said, "I can offer a higher price."
"If it was any other one, I would think of a way to help you. But this one was reserved by Mr. Norman yesterday."
Alina said in surprise, "Mr. Norman wants it?"
"Yes."
Alina was silent for a moment. She looked at Annette and smiled, "Ms. Hall, it seems that he has a surprise for you. Well, I'll let it go."
Before Annette could say anything, Alina stood up and said to the shop assistant, "Pack up all of these for me."
In just half an hour, Alina spent hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Annette thought that she couldn't catch up with rich people.
She turned to look at the long, camel coat hanging in the closet and shook her head.
It seemed that she needed to talk with Connor.
She should ask him not to spend money on unnecessary things for her.
She didn't care much about such things.
Noticing Annette's eyes on the coat, Alina tilted her head and smiled.
After buying the clothes, Alina asked the shop assistant to send them to the car downstairs.
She held Annette's arm and continued to shop with Annette.
They entered the men's clothing store.
Annette was a little puzzled. Didn't Alina and Lucas have an argument? Why did she still come to men's clothing?
Alina grabbed a set of sapphire-blue suits and asked Annette, "Ms. Hall, what do you think of this?"
Annette thought for a moment before saying, "Lucas might look a little darker if he wears it."
"What if Connor wears it?"
Annette looked at Alina.
Alina wanted to buy clothes for Connor?
Seeing that Annette was silent, Alina said, "I think Connor will look good in them."
She handed the suit to the shop assistant and picked three more. She asked Annette for opinions every time she picked one before paying the bill.
Annette felt depressed and thought, 'Was I overthinking?'
Leaving the men's clothing store, Alina proposed to have some fresh fruit juice.
They went to the store, and Alina asked, "Ms. Hall, what would you like to drink?"
Annette glanced at the shop and knew from the internet that it had been popular recently.
The cheapest peach juice here would cost fifteen dollars, and it was said that the most expensive juice cost hundreds of dollars.
Alina ordered, "I want a cup of cherry juice. Ms. Hall, what about you?"
Annette said, "I want mango juice."
"You like mango?"
"Yes."
"In the past, I liked apples very much. But later, I found Connor... and Lucas both liked cherries. Gradually, my taste changed, and after so many years, I am used to it. Sometimes, I think the habit is quite a terrible thing."
"Indeed. But everything can be changed. I heard Connor say that he once loved cherries."
"Not only in the past. He still loves cherries," Alina said.
Annette's lips curled into a smile. She said with confidence, "His taste has changed. He likes mangoes now. You are right, Ms. Grace. Habits are hard to change. That is why I like Connor. Although he is high and mighty in the eyes of others, he is willing to change for me, and I am touched."
"No way," Alina said in surprise.
"It is true." Annette took the fresh juice and took out her credit card to pay the bill.
Alina said hurriedly, "Let me pay for the drinks."
Annette said calmly, "Ms. Grace, I have a job, and I can afford to treat you to a cup of juice."
She smiled and put her phone back into her bag. She took a sip of juice and said to Alina as she walked, "Connor is good in every way, but he is too overbearing sometimes. He always says that if I don't spend his money, it means that I don't love him. Ms. Grace, I can go to work and spend my own money. Don't you think so?"
Annette blinked her big eyes innocently and smiled at Alina.
Alina frowned. She had thought that Annette was a weak girl. However, she was wrong. Annette was not weak but tenacious, and she knew how to fight back.
When they returned home, it was lunchtime.
As soon as Alina got out of the car, she saw Connor's car.
She said to Annette in surprise, "Connor is back."
Annette looked at her surprised expression and said calmly, "Yes."
It was strange. Alina didn't do anything.
But when Annette was with Alina, she felt unhappy.
Could it be that she was feeling jealous?
Annette did not like being assailed by self-doubt and emotional insecurity.
She and Alina entered the house. Dwayne stepped forward and said, "You are back."
"Where is Connor?" Alina asked.
"Alpha Connor is in the study."
Alina said, "I'll go to see him."
Annette said to Dwayne, "I'll go upstairs and change clothes."
Alina knocked on the door and entered the study.
Seeing her, Connor asked, "I thought you went shopping with Annette?"
"We're back." Alina smiled, "Why are you back so early?"
"I'm done. Where's Annette?"
Alina pointed upstairs. "Ms. Hall went upstairs to change clothes."
Connor stood up and said, "I'll go upstairs to her."
When he walked past Alina, she grabbed his wrist and asked, "Why are you avoiding me?"
Connor looked at her and said calmly, "I'm avoiding you? Am I?"
