Chapter 146
Chapter 146
"Sit next to me, and I'll tell you why I was so angry today," Connor looked at Annette and said.
She walked to the chair beside him and sat down.
Connor hooked his finger and said, "Come closer."
She tilted her face and leaned her ear towards him.
Connor raised the corner of his lips and thought, 'Sure enough, she is very obedient when she makes a mistake.'
He simply kissed her lips.
She leaned back, while he got up and pressed her head against the back of the chair.
He picked her up and stopped kissing her.
In order not to fall, Annette had to put her arms around his neck hastily.
Looking at his burning eyes, she blushed.
"We..." Annette wanted to speak, but she was interrupted by Connor.
Connor said, "Stop. I won't listen to anything right now."
After entering the room, he kicked the door shut.
He walked to the huge bed and placed her on the bed.
She looked at him nervously, and he kissed her again.
Annette was a little stiff at first. She lay in bed mechanically, not knowing what to do.
Yet as he deepened his kiss, she slowly raised her hands and wrapped them around his neck.
Then she loosened her grip and tried to push his shoulders away with some resistance, but he remained as still as a statue.
He moved her hands away from his shoulders and reached out to unbutton her shirt.
She gripped the sheets tightly.
In fact, she was no longer so resistant to having sex with him.
But the thought of such erotic scenes still made her shy.
There was a sudden knock on the door.
Connor was furious. He turned around and shouted, "Who is it?"
Dwayne's voice sounded from the door. "Alpha Connor, it's me."
Connor snapped and said sternly, "Leave. No one is allowed to come up without my orders."
"Alpha Connor, Alina is back."
Annette was shocked. She thought, 'Alina is back?'
She had been avoiding his gaze. For some reason, when she heard Alina's name, her eyes fell on his face.
When she saw his brows furrow, she suddenly realized something. She thought, 'What am I doing with him?
I know he'll never get Alina out of his head. I guess I've lost my mind for real.'
Connor said coldly, "Let them go to Marcus. I have something to do and don't have time to see them."
Then, he was about to continue.
Yet Annette quickly pulled up the quilt and covered herself.
At the door, Dwayne continued, "Lucas didn't come. Alina came alone."
Annette tried to stay calm and said, "You should go down and take a look."
Connor sighed heavily. He lowered his head, pulled away her quilt, kissed her, and sat up.
He looked at her and said, "Aren't we going down? Why are you still sitting there?"
She said gloomily, "I won't go. You should go by yourself."
Connor leaned close to her and said, "You said we should go down."
Annette whispered, "Ms. Grace is here alone. I'm sure she is here for you. Why should I go down?"
Connor shrugged and said, "Get up."
Annette frowned. "Don't be like that. You know she is here for you. Why should I go down with you? Even if I do, I have to excuse myself anyway. Why bother? Can't I just choose not to go down?"
"No, because you are my woman now. Do you think it is appropriate for the hostess to hide in bed when we have a guest downstairs?"
Annette was speechless. She rolled her eyes at him and sat up to get dressed.
The two went downstairs together, while Alina was sitting on the sofa in a daze.
Hearing the footsteps, she came back to her senses and looked back.
Seeing Annette come downstairs with Connor, she was stunned for a moment before revealing a smile. She said, "Ms. Hall, you are here, too."
Annette nodded and said, "Yes. I came home early today."
Connor and Annette went to the sofa and sat down.
A servant brought some cake and fruits over.
None of them moved. Alina said, "I went to the company to look for you, and Hari said that you had other plans in the afternoon and had already left. Then I called Leonard, and he said you were home, so I stopped by. I didn't interrupt anything, did I?"
Annette hurriedly said, "No. We just came back."
Connor knew what Alina was asking about, and he didn't bother to beat around the bush. He said, "In fact, yes."
He crossed his legs and said, "Why are you here alone? Where's Lucas?"
Alina said, with a hint of resentment in her voice, "Can't I come alone?"
"You know Lucas' condition. You came here and left him alone at home, don't you think it'll be inconvenient for him?"
Alina bit her lip. "I'm not his nanny. Besides, there are so many people at home. Why do I have to stay there with him?"
Seeing Alina was a little agitated, Annette glanced at Connor.
Connor asked coldly, "What happened between you and Lucas?"
Annette was confused and thought, 'How can he be sure that something happened between Alina and Lucas?'
Alina didn't explain anything. She just looked at Annette and said, "Ms. Hall, I don't want to go home these days. May I stay with you for a few days?"
Annette was embarrassed and thought, 'Why are you asking me? This isn't my house.'
Connor said, "No. She doesn't get to call the shot regarding this."
Annette looked at him sideways. She thought, 'You are right. But who said I was the hostess of this place when we were upstairs?
Connor, liar.
Are you this eager to distance yourself from me in front of Alina?'
Alina's eyes weren't that dimmed anymore. She pretended to be curious and asked, "Why? Ms. Hall is your girlfriend, isn't she? Since you live together, why doesn't she get to call the shot?"
Annette turned to look at Connor.
She wondered how he would answer this question.
Connor's expression was as calm as usual. "You are right. She is mine, and we live together, so she has a say in everything here. But she has no right to make decisions on your matters because she's not your guardian. Lucas has the final say regarding this. If Lucas is OK, I'll have Dwayne sort out your villa here for you."
Annette thought, 'So, that's what he means.'
