His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 145

Chapter 145

Annette did not say anything else. She turned to look at Sara.

Sara nodded at Annette and said, "Go back and rest. I got this."

Annette left the rooftop. Although Connor was still mad at her, he walked to her and picked her up.

Annette quickly said, "Put me down. I can walk."

  "Shut up."

Seeing that someone was approaching them, Annette closed her eyes and pretended that she had fainted.

Next to them, Marcus whispered, "How witty."

Connor glared at him and said, "Cut the crap. Go and tell everyone to leave."

Marcus went downstairs before them and said, "Everyone, please make way. Someone has fainted. We need to get her to the hospital."

Classes were canceled, and Annette and Marcus were taken away from the campus.

On the way home, Connor asked Marcus to sit in the car behind them.

In the car, Annette looked at Connor from time to time with a guilty conscience.

After hesitating for a while, Annette said, "Thank you. I could have died. Connor, you are my superhero."

Connor looked at her coldly and said, "Stop trying to curry favor with me."

Annette hurriedly said, "I'm not. I'm just grateful that you saved me. Besides, I was trying to save someone, right? So, don't be angry."

"You almost died. Who could you possibly save? Don't pull a stunt if you don't have what it takes."

"I'm a teacher, after all. I can't just stand by and watch, right? Sara and I were passing by, and a lot of students saw us. Do you think it would be appropriate for us to simply walk away?"

"Yes, you are right. You went to save her with your colleague. Then why is it that you end up hanging in the air and your colleague is fine? Because you're stupid. When it comes to things you can't do anything about, you can avoid or ignore them. Who says that a student instructor must sacrifice her life to save others?"

It was the first time that Connor was so angry with Annette.

He was yelling at her for real.

After staring at him for a moment, she reached out to hold his arm and said, "Please. Don't be mad at me anymore. See? I'm fine."

Seeing her like this, he was more annoyed. "Fine? Annette, how could you not know how serious this was? What if Marcus failed to grab you today? What if his hand slipped? What if I didn't get there in time?"

Annette looked at him pitifully. "I think you are right. In fact, the moment I was dragged down, I did not feel anything, because everything happened so fast. But when Marcus grabbed me, for the first time, I felt the fear of facing death. Although it only lasted for seconds, I thought of a lot of things. I even had some evil thoughts in my mind at that moment. I wondered if I should let go of Selina's hand. Connor, don't you think that I was a horrible person at that time?"

"You are only horrible to me when you risk your life to save someone else. I guess the school is not a safe place at all. You can either resign, or I'll have bodyguards keeping an eye on you from tomorrow."

Annette said anxiously, "No! It is safe. I swear."

"For others, maybe, but for you, it is not necessarily the case. After all, you manage to grasp this one in ten thousand chances of losing your life. You are something, aren't you?" Connor said coldly.

She smiled awkwardly and held his arm, "You're right. I'm listening to your words very carefully."

"Annette, don't even bother. It won't work," he said, yet his body gave him away. He didn't push her away.

Therefore, Annette realized that she had a chance. She looked at him devoutly and said, "Coney, I was wrong, OK? This will never happen again. I promise. I'm serious! The next time I see something like this, I'll stay as far away as possible. See? I'm so regretful now. So, please don't stay mad at me, will you?"

Connor thought, 'Who says she doesn't know how to play coquetry? It's not that she doesn't know how to do it. She just simply doesn't want to do so.

See? She plays it so naturally today.'

Connor snorted and did not scold her anymore.

The car stopped at the entrance of the villa.

Annette let go of him, and Connor opened the car door and got out of the car without looking back.

Meanwhile, Marcus got out of the car from the back seat and walked to her.

With his hands in his pockets, he turned around, leaned against the wall, looked at her, and said, "He blamed you, didn't he?"

She was surprised. "How did you know?"

"I know him. It's so obvious that he is so pissed off."

She raised her hand and knocked on his forehead. "Stop talking."

  "I also saved you today!"

"And I'll never forget about that. Now help me think of something. How can I stop him from being mad at me?"

Marcus said, "I couldn't have dragged you back today if Connor hadn't pulled you up. When Connor pulled you out, he had to stick half of his body out of the building. If he wasn't paying enough attention, he could fall before you do. Do you know that? He risked his life to save yours, so I think he has every right to be mad at you."

After he finished speaking, he shrugged at her and turned to enter.

Annette stood there. She was so scared that she didn't realize how dangerous it was when he tried to grab her belt.

She thought, 'I can't believe Connor risked his life to save me.

  I'll never forget that.'

Annette walked to the sofa. She looked at Dwayne and said, "Dwayne, dinner is not ready yet, right?"

"Ms. Hall, are you hungry? I'll get someone on it now."

"It's OK," Annette waved her hand and said. "Just as well. Dwayne, can I have the kitchen tonight? I'm going to cook and have a candlelit dinner with Alpha Connor."

  "Sure, Ms. Hall."

Annette threw her bag to the side and went into the kitchen without changing her clothes.

Hearing the door close, Connor looked back at the kitchen door and smiled.

Dwayne walked forward and wondered, "Alpha Connor, Ms. Hall is acting strange today."

"She feels guilty and wants to make things right. Alright then. Ask everyone else to get on with their work. And we'd like some privacy at dinner."

"OK." Dwayne led the others out.

Connor looked back at the kitchen from time to time, curious about what she was doing inside.

In less than half an hour, Annette came out.

She placed the dishes on the table and shouted at Connor, who was far away, "Coney, dinner is ready."

He did not move, nor did he look at her.

Meanwhile, he thought, 'You usually call me by my name, and now you are smart enough to call me Coney. Well, I like the sound of that.'
