His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Connor frowned at Annette's words again.

"She is lying!" Leo's voice sounded in Connor's mind.

"I know." For the first time, Connor did not refute Leo's words. He wasn't happy about it, since Annette didn't trust him.

"She doesn't trust us," Leo said. "It's your fault, Connor."

Connor did not respond to Leo. Sometimes he thought Leo talked too much, and that annoyed him.

Connor believed that Kyle might be the reason Annette chose to stay at Werewolf University.

  Perhaps Kyle was her mate.

Connor's mood grew gloomy at the thought.

"Alpha Connor, can I go to work now?" Connor didn't answer her. Annette turned around and was about to start her work from upstairs.

Suddenly, Connor grabbed her. She was startled as if feeling an electric current on her wrist.

"You don't have to do cleaning today. I have a business dinner to attend later. Come with me," Connor said, without noticing Annette's expression.

"Can I say no?" Annette was reluctant.

"Then how are you going to thank me for getting rid of that rogue last time?" Connor asked.

"Fine. I'll go." Annette gritted her teeth.

Connor walked toward the door without looking at her face.

Annette followed him. After they got into the car, Connor suddenly said, "Call me Mr. Norman at dinner."

"I know." Knowing that not only the werewolves would be attending the business dinner, Annette continued, "Just to be clear. I'll be your female companion, but I won't socialize with men at the dinner party."

He looked at her coldly. "Don't worry about it, because you are not qualified for that."

"What do you mean? Are you saying that I am ugly?" Annette looked at Connor and complained.

Connor whispered in her ear in a faint voice, "I am saying that you are not very good in bed."

She blushed, pushed him, and looked at him out of the corner of her eye.

He tilted his head, smiled, and looked out the window.

Leonard drove them to a dress shop. After Annette entered the store, a shopping guide led her to check on the dresses.

Upon Connor's request, the guide brought a few dresses for Annette to try on. After selecting, the guide led Annette to the lounge area.

The makeup artist and hair stylist came as well.

  Annette went to get changed.

Annette stood in front of the mirror, barely recognizing herself.

Somehow, the dress made her uncomfortable.

She had never tried on a strapless cocktail dress.

The dress was made of gauze, like a wedding dress. It was white and decorated with patterns of light yellow flowers, making Annette's fair skin look rosy and tender. She looked gentle, delicate, and hot.

She covered her chest with one hand. "Isn't it too revealing?"

The guide smiled, "Don't worry, Ms. Hall. You'll seal the limelight tonight. I promise."

Annette thought, 'But all I want is a quiet dinner and be unnoticed.

I don't want the limelight. OK?'

She walked out of the lounge, and Connor saw the dressed-up Annette at once.

She usually wore a T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers, which made her the perfect illustration of an ordinary college student.

He suddenly realized that she shouldn't dress like that anymore.

Because those clothes made her plain.

Some men passing by would occasionally turn back to look at her. Connor concealed his amazement and walked toward her with a cold face.

Annette was embarrassed for a second. When she saw that Connor was looking at her, she put her hand over her chest.

  "Isn't it too much?"

Connor was a little annoyed by the way the others were looking at Annette.

"The dress doesn't fit you at all," Connor said.

Annette was a bit unhappy. She had captured a touch of amazement in Connor's eyes just now.

They got into the car again, and Leonard quickly drove to the hotel where the dinner was being held.

After Connor got out of the car, he stood at the side and waited for Annette.

Connor stretched out his arm and said in a low voice, "Take my arm."

She took his arm as she followed him inside. "Could you slow down a bit? I've never walked in stilettos before. The carpet is soft and I may take a fall at any time."

"Then why did you wear them in the first place?"

"You asked them to make me look good."

He turned his head and glanced at her. "And she failed her job."

"I got it, OK? Shut it."

He took her to the third floor. At the door of the banqueting hall, he signed their names and then walked in with her.

As they entered, they got everyone's attention.

They looked like a perfect couple as one could ever imagine.

Connor looked around and saw the stunned eyes of the men. He was more irritated and felt the urge to take off his suit and hide her inside.

"Why are there so many people?" Annette was stunned.

"Relax. It's just a business dinner," Connor said.

He took a step forward. Her legs went numb, stumbling as he dragged her forward.

He turned around and asked worriedly, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I haven't seen much of the world, and I'm a bit nervous, "she said, holding his arm tightly.

Connor curled up his lips into a smile. For some reason, he couldn't help smiling.

Every word that came out of her mouth simply made sense.

Connor said, "Cover your chest. You don't want to look too hot now."

Annette glared at Connor. Then, she tried to cover her chest with her clutch in a natural way.

They took a few steps forward. She halted her steps as he was about to pick up a wine glass.

She grasped his arm tighter. She pitched him so hard that he even felt a bit painful.

He looked at her. At this moment, she was staring straight to the left without blinking.
