His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

"What are these?" Kyle quickly looked through the photos.

The photos were taken in a dark valley. A tightly wrapped woman wearing a hat and mask was giving money to a man.

Though the photos were taken from a distance, and it was dark, Kyle could still tell it was Lena from the last few photos that had zoomed on her face.

"It's proof. The day before yesterday, I was working at the convenience store when a jerk tried to hurt me. Alpha Connor saved me. The man admitted that he was paid to beat me, and no one but the one who paid him knew that I had met Alpha Connor that day. But now you do. And the photos are the proof."

Kyle's expression changed greatly. He reached out and pulled her. He asked with a worried face, "Are you alright?"

She removed his hand. "Kyle, I didn't expect you to be such a liar after you were with Lena."

"I am not with Lena. I don't like her." Kyle frowned. Then he said, "Believe me. I don't want to break up with you. I won't accept your rejection."

"Kyle, I don't want to hurt anyone. Leave me alone, OK? I only want to live in peace. Don't come to me again."

She passed him and was about to leave. Kyle shouted, "I will not accept it. I will come to you every day. I will show up in front of you every day. We're mates. We're bound to be together. Annette, I love you."

He shouted louder and louder, and people around were all discussing and pointing at them.

Annette remained calm. She no longer believed Kyle.

The reason why she told Kyle about Lena was that she wanted to take revenge on Lena.

Annette believed that the best revenge for a person like Lena was not to let her get what she wanted.

When Annette came to class in the afternoon, Roxanne ran to her excitedly and said, "Breaking news! That scumbag Kyle beat Lena at noon today."

"He beat her?" Annette was shocked. She did not believe that Kyle would get physical.

"Many people saw it. Lena went to Kyle, and he pushed her to the grass. I felt great for you."

Annette smiled and said, "It's between me and her. Don't let this affect your relationship with her."

Roxanne thought differently. She said, "Lena is notorious at the university now. No female werewolves with mates want to be near Lena. After all, a woman who goes around destroying others' relationships as mates is terrible."

Annette smiled and said, "Not every mate is as useless as Kyle."

Roxanne had not yet found her mate, so she was not yet deeply touched on the subject.

Roxanne thought for a few seconds and asked, "Everyone knows that Fiona, the principal, is Kyle's mother. Fiona turned a cold face on such a good werewolf as you. How can she accept Lena? I remember Lena got a C in Fighting Class."

"Fiona can't accept who I am. You know that I'm a Hybrid," Annette said and gave a wry smile. Then she continued, "Though Lena is just an Omega, after all, she is from the Crystal Pack."

"Don't say that. I never thought pure-blooded werewolves were that noble," Roxanne said.

Annette nudged Roxanne with her elbow gently. "Thanks."

Five minutes before class, Lena stormed into the classroom.

She stood at the door and looked around the classroom before spotting Annette in the crowd.

She walked over angrily. Her eyes were red and swollen, and she threw the photos in her hands at Annette's desk. "Good for you, Annette. Do you think I can't dig out something from you? This is not over."

After she finished speaking, she snorted coldly and turned to leave.

Roxanne picked up the photos and glanced at them, puzzled. "What are these?"

Annette picked up the photos and tore them to pieces. She smiled, "Nothing. Let's get ready for class."

  "Aren't you angry?"

"If a dog bites you, will you bite it back?"

Roxanne laughed. "You do have a sharp tongue."

After class, Annette left the school and went to Connor's villa.

There was still a long way to go from the bus stop to his place.

She was lucky today. She walked for only a few minutes before running into Connor's car.

After getting in the car, she smiled at Connor, "Alpha Connor, you're back early."

"I came back early since I need to supervise your work."

Annette was speechless. She had always been diligent about her work and never slacked off.

They were silent for a while before the car arrived at his place.

They got out of the car, and Annette said, "I'm going to work."

"Wait." He walked up to her. "I went to see your principal today."

She looked at him and was shocked. "You know Fiona?"

"She is the Luna of Crystal Pack. Of course, I know her."

Annette nodded. She did not ask further.

Connor looked at her and asked, "Aren't you curious about our conversation?"

She looked a little cold. "No."

"You are worried that she might have spoken ill of you, right?"

"She doesn't like me. It makes sense if she speaks ill of me."

"That's weird. You are such an outstanding student. Why would she not like you?"

He raised his eyebrows as if he was waiting for her answer.

"Who knows? Perhaps she is getting old, so she envies me. Or perhaps... She is envious of my beauty."

Connor knew that she said that on purpose, and he also knew why Annette did not want to tell him the real reason.

Annette looked at Connor and said with a smile, "Alpha Connor, I'm going to work now since I get paid by hours."

Connor suddenly opened his mouth and said, "Why did you choose to stay at the university? With your grades and ability, you could have a great job in human society. Yet you chose to stay there to teach. Why?"

"Do I need a reason?" She looked at him.

"There is always a reason for everything."

"Maybe it's because I have no ambition." She raised her eyebrows. "I'm not interested in doing big things. I just want a quiet, ordinary life."

He looked at her and thought, 'What makes you think like that?' He asked, "Does working in a big company deprive you of enjoying an ordinary life?"

"That's right. I hate office politics."
