His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 11

Chapter 11

"Don't you think it's quiet here? It's far away from the city. Whenever I am in a bad mood, I will come and sit for a while and look at the view by the lake," Annette said. She pointed at the sky. "Look," she said.

Connor looked up. The night sky was beautiful.

"As long as I sit here and look at the beautiful night sky, I feel that it is good to be alive and that the future will be good. Don't you think?"

"Not really." He raised his eyebrows.

She shrugged. "You think differently from poor people like me. No wonder I'm poor."

He let out a laugh, which was quite rare.

She looked at him in surprise. "Alpha Connor, I didn't know you also laugh."

He asked, "Is there anyone in this world who can't laugh?"

"But I've never seen you laugh like this before."

  "Do you know me well?"

Annette shrugged. She found the subject a bit self-deprecating.

She took a sip of coffee and looked up at the night sky. It had been a long time since she had come to enjoy such a peaceful night.

The surroundings suddenly quieted down. Connor took a sip of coffee and then frowned. He asked, "What is this? It tastes so bad."

She looked at him. "Don't tell me you've never tried instant coffee before."

  "I haven't."

She chuckled. "Sorry, my bad. I'd better not offer you drinks in the future. After all, you and I do not belong to the same world. This won't happen again."

As she spoke, she brought the coffee cup in front of him to her. "I'll drink it."

He quickly took the cup back. "I just said it tasted bad. Did I say I wouldn't drink it?

"When we were at the convenience store, how could you be so sure that someone sent that man?"

Annette recalled for a moment and said, "First, my usual anti-pervert tactic didn't work for him. Second, he said I had crossed the wrong person."

"You have an anti-pervert tactic?" he asked in surprise. "Tell me more."

  "Why should I?"

"I saved you today, didn't I? It won't be too much to tell me your secret. Don't you think?"

"I told him I was an HIV carrier."

Connor almost spat out the coffee as he heard her words. He coughed a few times.

She looked at Connor and asked, "Are you alright?"

Connor's eyes widened. He asked in confusion, "Is that your tactic?"

"Yes. That's what I say when I encounter perverts. After that, they will walk away from me."

  "Do they buy it?"

"Every time I get pestered, I will say so, and they will buy it."

He shook his head and smiled, "Aren't you afraid of ruining your reputation?"

"I don't care what others think of me."

"Who did you get drunk for that night? Kyle? Austin? Or others?"

She turned to look at him, her face turning cold. "Alpha Connor, don't you think prying into other people's privacy is not something a man should do?"

"Then I'll change my question. Why do you take so many jobs? You don't look that broke to me," Connor said.

Annette spread out her hands and said, "How could you tell?"

Connor was a little disapproving. He said, "Whether it is Kyle of Crystal Pack or Austin of Black Thorn Pack, neither of them will make their woman poor. So, what exactly is going on with you?"

She stood up and looked at him.

He smiled, looking relaxed. He said, "What? Are you going to be angry again? You know what? Among all the women I know, you are the one who gets angry most easily."

She regretted that she had brought him to her secret base for a quarrel.

She took a deep breath and thought, 'This will be the last time. I won't bring him here again.'

Annette looked very mad, and Connor found it amusing.

He thought, 'She isn't afraid of me, nor does she flatter me.

When she's angry, she always lets it all out.

It's the first time in my life that I am so curious about a woman.

This is new to me and I'm expecting more from it.'

"Connor, are you interested in her as well?" Leo's voice sounded in Connor's mind, interrupting Connor's thinking.

"I'm just a little curious," Connor replied.

"If so, I suggest you mark her," Leo tried to persuade Connor.

"Shut up, Leo. I won't allow you to take over my body in front of her," Connor rejected Leo's suggestion.

The next morning, after class, Roxanne ran to Annette and said, "Ann, are you going to eat?"

"Yes." Annette tidied up her books, and they went downstairs together, leaving the school building.

Roxanne pointed at the door and said, "Look! That scumbag."

Annette looked at the door. It was Kyle.

When Kyle saw her, he trotted over quickly.

"Roxanne, I want to talk to Annette alone. Will you excuse us for a moment?"

  Roxanne looked at Annette.

Annette smiled at Roxanne, "Wait for me at the cafeteria."

  "Come over quickly, then."

After Roxanne left, Kyle said unhappily, "I heard that you have been very close to Alpha Connor lately."

Annette smiled coldly, "Kyle, what makes you think that you can ask me about it?

"Annette, don't you know Alpha Connor is a dangerous man? He isn't someone you can mess with. Listen to me. I am watching out for you."

"What do you mean by watching out for me? Are you watching out for me by sleeping with Lena and pestering me? You believe everything Lena tells you, don't you?"

"It wasn't Lena who told me." A flash of embarrassment crossed Kyle's face.

Annette opened her schoolbag, took out a few photos, and threw them at his face.

"I was going to give these to Lena, but I haven't met her today. I guess you can give these to her for me."

In fact, she was going to give these photos to Kyle.

She knew Kyle well. He was a bit paranoid, but he was still an upright man. He hated people playing tricks behind his back.

Though Annette decided to reject Kyle, she would not allow Lena to smear her.
