His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

"You'd better not get too close to me. I am an HIV carrier," Annette said nonchalantly.

When the wretched man heard Annette's words, he took a few steps back with a look of horror, and then his eyes turned shifty. He pondered for a few seconds and then looked disdainful.

"Give me a break. I see through you! You're lying! Even if that's true, that won't scare me away. I will sleep with you today!"

To Annette's surprise, she didn't scare him off and he saw through her lie.

There was a hint of panic on her face. The man saw the change in her expression, and he was even more certain that Annette was lying.

Annette wanted to run away from him, but he pushed her.

  She almost fell.

The wretched man stepped forward, pulled Annette, and said, "Bitch, you're unlucky that you met me today. You crossed the wrong person."

After he finished speaking, he leaned forward and wanted to kiss Annette.

She raised her hand and slapped him.

  He was enraged.

The man raised his hand and was about to slap her back when his wrist was grabbed by someone else.

The man was furious. He turned his head and shouted, "What the..."

Before he could finish his words, he got punched in the face.

The man was knocked to the ground, covering his chin.

Before he could react, he was dragged away by several strong men.

Annette froze there. She was stunned when she saw Connor, who was with all the rage.

Connor looked at her and asked, "Are you going to why I am here again?"

Annette stood up and looked at him. She was indeed surprised to see Connor here.

After a few seconds, he stretched out two fingers and gently poked her head.

  "You really are an enigma."

Annette did not respond to Connor. She suddenly seemed to think of something and ran out.

Connor was a little curious, and he followed her out.

When Annette came to the door, she found the man who had bullied her and was still restrained there, shouting.

She walked over and asked seriously, "Who sent you?"

The man's gaze fell on Connor, who was behind Annette, then, his eyes were filled with fear.

Annette said, "Tell me, and I'll let you go."

  "Really? Do you mean it?"

"You look terrified, so, I suppose you know who the man behind me is. Do you have a better choice than trust me now?"

The wretched man quickly said, "A woman came to me yesterday and gave me your picture. She offered me a thousand dollars to scare you today. She said she would pay more if I could take some photos of you that would ruin your reputation."

  "What is her name?"

"I don't know. I have never met her before."

Annette thought for a few seconds. She took out her phone, found a photo, and showed it to the man. "Is this her?"

The man frowned and recalled. Then he said, "She was wearing a hat and a mask, so I only saw her eyes. It looks like her, but I can't say for sure."

"Was she about my height, with a very delicate voice?"

"Yes. That's right, and her voice was very delicate."

Annette clenched her fists, and her eyes were filled with resentment.

The man said, "I have told you everything I know. Please let go of me."

Annette turned around. She looked at Connor and said, "Let him go."

  "Are you sure?"

Annette did not say anything and only nodded.

Connor walked in front of the man. "Get out of Akron. I don't want to see you again. Piss off."

He asked the men to let go of him.

The man thanked Connor and Annette and ran away quickly.

Connor walked in front of Annette and said, "It seems that you already know who is behind this. Do you need my help?"

She looked at him. "No. I will settle my grudge. But, anyway, thanks for today."

"I told you before. Verbal thanks mean nothing."

"How about a cup of coffee?"

"Alright, if that's what you want."

Annette felt a little helpless. She thought, 'You don't have to force yourself if you don't want to.'

  "Then let's go," Annette said.

Connor asked, "Where are you taking me for coffee?"

  "Somewhere fun."

She sounded mysterious, and Connor smiled. He was looking forward to it.

Connor started the car, and Annette showed him the way. They soon came somewhere near a forest on the outskirts of Akron.

Connor stopped the car and looked at Annette. He asked, "I don't remember seeing a café here."

"Come with me." Annette did not explain. She unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the car.

Connor followed her, and they walked in the forest for a while.

Soon, Connor saw a small lake with several large rocks aside.

They were like stone tables and chairs.

It was very quiet in the forest. Occasionally, they could hear birds tweeting, which sounded very pleasing.

Annette sat down on a flat stone and turned on the flashlight on her phone.

She took out two paper cups wrapped in brown paper bags from her bag and placed them on the big stone table.

Then she took out a thermos and two packs of instant coffee and poured them into the cups.

She quickly made coffee and handed a cup to Connor.

Connor did not move. He looked at Annette and asked, "This is where you're taking me to coffee?"

"Yes. Don't you think it's nice here?"

Connor did not answer. He thought, 'I have no idea that I'm so easily brushed off in Annette's eyes.'

"This is my secret base. It's the first time I've ever brought anyone here."

Connor took the coffee and sat down on the other side of the table.

It wasn't too dark because of the moonlight and the faint light from her phone.

"You said this is your secret base?"
