Chapter 101
Chapter 101
On the way, Connor and Annette sat in the back of the car. Connor asked, "Why did you go to the other side of the yard with them?"
"They pulled me, and I felt that I shouldn't fight them in public. If I had known that it would be like this, I would have fought with them," Annette said indignantly.
Connor smiled, "If you had fought with them, you might not be their match at all."
Annette looked at him and said, "Anyway, it feels good to have someone on my side. This is the first time anyone has ever publicly believed in me unconditionally."
"This has happened before, and no one believed you back then?"
"Yes. I went to the Black Thorn Pack once. Back then, Jessica was in the living room, and she smashed the vase that Alpha Lance liked in front of me. When Alpha Lance came out, Jessica pointed at me and said that I had broken the vase. Then Alpha Lance was about to hit me right away. They didn't even give me a chance to explain. Leslie said that the vase was expensive, and since it was broken, they would just regard it as me repaying them for raising me for years.
"I have buried this in my heart for years. I often wonder why I was so aggrieved at that time. Probably because I couldn't even defend myself, and maybe it was also because I didn't think anyone in the world believed me."
Connor frowned. He found those of the Black Thorn Pack were heartless.
He held her hand and said, "I'll be on your side even if the whole world turns its back on you."
She looked at him. It would be a lie to say that she was not shocked.
For the first time in her life, someone said such words to her.
She felt that it wouldn't matter even if she was abandoned by the whole world, as long as Connor was standing next to her. She felt both happy and scared about this feeling.
In fact, she was well aware of what it meant.
The next day, Annette came to school and went to class with Sara to deliver the announcement.
In the afternoon, the basketball court was in full swing.
Annette sat outside the basketball court and watched the game. Suddenly, her phone vibrated in her pocket.
She took out her phone and glanced at the screen. It was Jessica.
Instead of answering it, she hung up directly.
After calling her about five times, Jessica finally gave up.
While Annette was watching the game attentively, someone patted her on the shoulder from behind.
She turned around only to see that it was Jessica.
Annette's face instantly turned cold.
Yet Jessica smiled at her and said, "Ann, why didn't you pick up the phone? I had no choice but to come to school to find you."
Annette said coldly, "What are you doing here?"
"Well, I have something to say to you."
Marcus was at the game not far from them. He frowned when he saw Jessica coming for Annette.
He waved his hand to temporarily suspend the game and ran to Annette.
Jessica waved at Marcus and said with a smile, "Hey, Marcus. Long time no see."
"What are you doing here?" Marcus replied with a cold face.
"I'm here for Ann. I didn't know you were at this school. No wonder you are so close to Ann."
Annette turned to Marcus and said, "Why aren't you at the game?"
"I figured that you might need my help."
Annette patted Marcus on the shoulder and said, "Go back to the game. I can handle it."
Marcus gave Jessica a cold look and said to Annette, "Call out if anything."
Annette nodded, and Marcus returned to the field.
Jessica was jealous of how nice Marcus was to Annette. However, she pretended to be kind and said, "Ann, come out for a second. I have something to tell you."
Annette and Jessica left the basketball court.
Not far away, Kyle frowned slightly as he watched Annette and Jessica's backs.
He thought, 'Isn't that woman Jessica, Alpha's daughter of the Black Thorn Pack? Why is she here for Annette?'
Outside the basketball court, Annette looked at Jessica coldly and said, "What do you want?"
Jessica sneered, "Annette, let me tell you something. You may soon kiss your happy days goodbye. Randolph already talked to Alpha Connor for me yesterday about the alliance of the two packs. Annette, you are bound to lose."
Annette frowned. She thought about the fact that Randolph talked to Connor alone yesterday.
"That's impossible. Randolph is close to Connor. I'm sure Randolph knows that the Blood Moon Pack has a grudge against the Black Thorn Pack."
"So what? Randolph owes the old Alpha of the Black Thorn Pack a favor. Alpha Lance asked him to mention it, and he agreed without any hesitation. Hatred is nothing. It only concerns the previous generation. What does it have to do with me?"
Annette stared at Jessica's face, which was full of complacency. Jessica was acting like she was getting married to Connor tomorrow.
Yet in fact, Connor did not mention this to Annette yesterday.
Annette firmly believed that Connor would not lie to her, so she didn't buy Jessica's words at all.
Annette said with a mocking smile, "Really? Congratulations then."
Jessica felt irritated by Annette's attitude. She said angrily, "So? You don't believe me? You should, because it is happening."
Annette was calm and was not angry at all. "As I said, congratulations."
Jessica gave Annette a cold look. "Believe it or not, Annette. Wait and see. You will lose."
After Jessica finished speaking, she raised her chin proudly and left.
Just as Annette turned around and was about to return to the basketball court, Kyle came out.
He blocked Annette outside the door and asked, "Why did the daughter of the Black Thorn Pack's Alpha come to you?"
"It's none of your business."
'You've always kept secrets from me, Annette. Sometimes I don't know if I really know you."
Annette looked at him. "What's the point of saying this? Anyway, you and I are over. Don't you think focusing on such boring things is nothing but a waste of time?"
"So, even if the reason I asked you was purely out of concern, you still wouldn't tell me, right?" Kyle asked.
Annette was silent.
"Fine. I'll find out about it." He turned around and walked back to the basketball court.
Annette frowned. "Stop, Kyle. Why are you being so aggressive?"
Kyle turned around while Fiona's car happened to pull up just outside the basketball court.
Hearing the sound of the car, Annette turned around and saw Fiona getting out of the car and looking at her coldly.
