Chapter 84 Call Me Xiao Xu
Chapter 84 Call Me Xiao Xu
Director Tang shrank back into the corner of the wall, looking terrified. He seemed very afraid, but in his heart, he was gloating and jubilant.
How dare you assault a patient like that, Xu Xiangbei, you’re done for. Now your damn consultancy will be revoked, and no one at the First People’s Hospital can bully me and my son.
Dean Zhang had cold sweat pouring down his forehead. They had planned to take this opportunity to treat Director Jiang’s son, but unexpectedly Xu Xiangbei lost his mind and knocked the child out directly.
Xu Xiangbei, with a mischievous smile, slapped Jiang Xinwen on the back of his head once more. Jiang Xinwen’s small body shuddered as if electrocuted, while some yellow viscous fluid dripped from his nose, resembling thick yellow snot.
Director Jiang screamed loudly, "Are you trying to kill someone? I’ll fight you to the death."
Director Jiang’s whole body trembled violently, obviously enraged to the extreme. Then, he clenched his fists. The bones collided inside the flesh, making cracking sounds, like the sizzling of frying soybeans.
Xu Xiangbei, however, was indifferent, releasing Xiao Xinwen, who slumped to the ground. Director Jiang hurried to hug his son tightly, fearing further harm from Xu Xiangbei.
"Xinwen, what’s wrong with you? Wake up."
"Pinch the philtrum, pinch the philtrum."
Director Tang ran over at this moment, his plump face full of regret, "Poor child, beaten like this, is now in shock."
"Don’t touch him, you quack doctor. He’ll wake up on his own soon."
Xu Xiangbei shouted coldly, scaring Director Tang, who had reached out to pinch the philtrum, forcing him to retract his hand.
Director Jiang gritted his teeth, pointing angrily at Xu Xiangbei, "If anything happens to my son, I would rather not be the director than kill you."
Confronted by the furious Director Jiang, Xu Xiangbei was completely unconcerned, lighting a cigarette, blowing smoke rings, and looking mischievously at Director Jiang.
Zhang Xuesong could see the clue. When Xu Xiangbei had slapped the back of Xiao Xinwen’s head, it wasn’t random; he struck at the Fengfu acupoint on the occipital bone, his thumb and index finger condensed into a needle-like shape.
To outsiders, it appeared as though Xu Xiangbei was abusing Xiao Xinwen, but in truth he was using Qi as a needle to treat him; albeit in a very unconventional manner.
Zhang Xuesong quickly stepped between Director Jiang and Xu Xiangbei, pushing aside his old classmate Director Jiang’s gun, "Lao Jiang, don’t get excited, wait until you understand what’s happening."
Director Jiang snapped at Zhang Xuesong, "What do you mean don’t get excited? If you hadn’t arranged for me to meet this kid here, would my son have been beaten?"
Director Tang seized the opportunity to sow discord, "Director Jiang is right, bastard dared to beat your son right in front of you, absolutely outrageous. Director Jiang, you should arrest him. He’s no divine doctor, just a fraud."
Suddenly, Jiang Xinwen let out a faint moan, though it was as quiet as a whisper, a sound nonetheless came.
"Dad, Dad, my head hurts. Dad, I want ice cream."
Director Jiang was frozen in place, thinking it was a hallucination. He quickly placed his ear near Jiang Xinwen’s mouth and heard clearly. Jiang Xinwen was calling him dad, and he wanted ice cream.
Since his son had a high fever at the age of five, he hadn’t spoken, nor had he called him dad.
But today, he clearly called out again, speaking anew.
Director Jiang was stunned, then pleased, filled with mixed emotions. This seven-foot man couldn’t help crying like a child, his shoulders shaking, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"Son, Dad is here. I’ll take you to get ice cream right away."
Xu Xiangbei smiled, handing over a tissue, "Director Jiang, now do you see whether I’m a quack doctor or not?"
Taking the tissue handed by Xu Xiangbei, Director Jiang wiped his tears, having some realization, looking ashamed, asking, "What exactly happened? Did you save him?"
Patting his old classmate’s shoulder, Zhang Xuesong laughed, "Of course Divine Doctor Xu saved your son. I told you Xu has high medical skills, just a bit eccentric."
Dean Zhang also breathed a sigh of relief, clutching his chest, feeling almost like a heart attack was coming from this episode of child-beating.
At his age, he couldn’t handle such shocks.
Director Tang shrank back into the corner again, looking dubious. Was it truly cured? Could it just be a fluke, a cat bumping into a dead mouse, allowing that kid to escape a scrape?
Director Jiang looked puzzled, "Divine Doctor Xu, what method did you use to cure my son?"
Xu Xiangbei blew smoke rings, sat down like a Golden Saber, poured himself a glass of water, and drank it. Using Qi as a needle was the most consuming of Inner Strength.
"Hehe, after Xinwen’s fever, there was an obvious buildup of fluid in his brain, compressing the speech nerve. Although this fluid is weak, even an MRI could hardly detect it. I use Inner Strength to disperse the fluid, letting him speak again naturally. But I had to first provoke him, inciting his anger, to muster all my energy and disperse the fluid."
Just as he spoke, some yellow fluid resembling snot flowed from Jiang Xinwen’s nose, which Director Jiang promptly wiped clean with a tissue.
Director Jiang was deeply ashamed. He was a man of integrity, regardless of his identity; he admitted mistakes directly.
"I see, I’m truly sorry, Mr. Xu. I was so rude to you, I’m not a person, I deserve to die."
"Director Jiang, your attitude pleases me; it proves you’re a man, one who dares to love and hate. Now I believe you’re truly a good father, and definitely a good official."
Xu Xiangbei finished the water in his cup, Director Jiang immediately refilled it, "I owe you a favor, but I’m not sure how to repay it."
"No need, being able to let Xinwen speak again, attending school like a normal child makes me happy. But, if you offer ten or eighty thousand as pocket money, hehe, I’ll take it. After all, treating illnesses is exhausting, not just physically but emotionally, especially with quack doctors present."
Feeling targeted again, Director Tang wore a cold face, pretending not to hear, not daring to speak, knowing any word could attract ten insults from Xu Xiangbei.
Dean Zhang pulled Xu Xiangbei aside, speaking earnestly, "Mr. Xu, next time you use some strange method to treat someone, could you inform me first, so I’m not caught off guard? I’m young enough to handle scares."
Xu Xiangbei laughed; he just focused on provoking Xinwen, provoking Director Jiang, not realizing he’d agitated everyone in the room.
He chuckled, "Dean Zhang, don’t worry, next time I’ll inform you first, and don’t call me Mr. Xu, just call me Xiao Xu."
After this ordeal, the private room was chaotic, chairs scattered, tables nearly overturned. The young waitress had long heard the commotion but dared not enter; only now she came to tidy the table and set up the bowls and chopsticks, preparing to serve food.
