Chapter 252 – It Is Time to Bring Down a Little Dragon.

[Chapter Size: 2900 Words.]

Third Person POV.

King's Landing.

...

...

Daemon returned to the city. When his orders were to prepare for battle, men began to organize themselves even more, carrying equipment and all kinds of supplies to their positions, while captains and commanders shouted at each other to prepare the formations.

"Sir, are we going to fight them this very day? It doesn't seem like they are just setting up their camp?", one of the soldiers approached the captain who was organizing the formation on one of the sides.

"Those are the king's orders. It seems he is going to act, and we also cannot wait for the enemy to surprise us, expecting him to act only the next day," he said to the soldier, who asked nothing more and ran off to take his position.

A command tent was soon raised. Daemon called all his commanders, and as they gathered around, they looked at him with some surprise, as he was already treating that very day as a war scenario.

He kept his gaze on the map in front of him, it was the map of Westeros that he had commissioned in Winterfell, placing the symbols of the two armies in front of King's Landing, also indicating some ships from the Ironborn fleet, seen in certain places, and the castles taken and guarded by the men left behind.

"I am going to attack the Golden Company at sea," Daemon declared after a moment of silence to everyone.

"Are you sure about that, my king? Isn't it risky?", Stannis asked in his usual tone.

"In a way, yes. But they think we will not do that because they have dragons to attack us as soon as I leave the city... I am certain they will react the moment Winter advances for an assault..." He pointed to the symbols of ships coming from the sea.

"He lost his dragon, this Blackfyre no longer has a dragon to ride, would they send them?" Mance asked.

"They will send them, even without a rider." Daemon said with a small smile.

"Then that would be a risk for us," Lord Stark murmured, and many looked at each other.

But Daemon opened a smile. "Do not worry, I have a certain plan for that. In fact, I want both dragons attacking, because if we manage to take them from the enemy, we will make this battle easier on our side," Daemon said.

Everyone looked at each other, but in the end, no one contested. If the king had a plan for it, well, he was the mind behind the entire war. All they did was follow his orders, and the success of the battles came one after another. If he had more tricks to deal with the dragons, then who would question him after everything?

"Then I want you to prepare." Daemon said.

"Your Majesty, do you intend to execute them?", one of the Lords raised his voice, speaking about the Tyrells and Martells imprisoned in the black cells.

They were still surprised that Oberyn had entered the Fortress the night before and had been killed by Daemon. Daemon did not shout, did not complain, he simply dealt with it as if it were something normal — which was certainly frightening to them, because any other king would have made a scandal, would have complained about the security and blamed someone... Heads would have rolled.

But Daemon did not even speak about it. He simply killed and kept his head to show his enemies today.

It was as if this were perfectly normal. That left an even stronger impression of Daemon. He was the king who did not depend on anyone for his safety, no wonder he had only just assigned a Kingsguard at this moment.

In any case, Daemon looked at him. "Yes, I am going to send a message to Westeros. This war will be marked as the bloodiest battle in Westeros."

Westeros had always been used to losing a few thousand, even ten thousand men in the bloodiest battles, but in this one, many tens of thousands would die. From fifty to one hundred thousand people would be cut down before one of the sides yielded...

Some already understood.

"Your Majesty speaks with reason. He did this precisely for peace when he threatened the Martells and the Tyrells, to maintain peace and not allow Blackfyre to ruin the image of the monarchy of the Seven Kingdoms. We have been at this for a long time, they have already carried out five rebellions and now this will be marked as the sixth. It is obvious that the Martells and the Tyrells are in their favor, as are the Reach and Dorne. The capture of an important person was a message and Your Grace gave them an option. Now, if they do not yield... well, the king at least tried to stop a bloody war through hostages...", said one of the lords of the Crownlands.

Daemon nodded. He understood the reasoning behind it.

If the Tyrells and the Martells continued with Blackfyre, it would mean that they had wasted the choice — and then nothing else would prevent Daemon from simply annihilating those families.

"Well, I have already made my demand. Was it radical? It was. But I have to keep my word now... Remember, they could save tens of thousands of men, but they have not done so until now and they will not... If I do not execute them today, what kind of king will I be, if I cannot keep my word?", Daemon said.

He hated politics, he truly did, but he began to disguise it through what he knew how to do best. Combining political maneuvering with the violence and war he excelled at, he even thought he could be a good ruler now.

"But, Your Grace... if you kill them, you will never have peace," Lord Stark tried to speak. "The Martells will never forgive the Lannisters... for Elia. The lines were already crossed when you killed Oberyn..."

"Just for that, in the end, they would never give up." Daemon said to his uncle, before turning back to everyone.

"Well, I will not have peace in my reign, as you know, my lords. That is why I need to do something radical in this battle, so that people think twice before rebelling against my rule and my family..." Daemon began, but stopped there.

The message was clear.

He was going to kill. Kill thousands of people just to consolidate his power. All of Westeros would tremble because of it.

"Well, let's start preparing our forces. I will begin to act. Each of you already has an idea of what to do." Everyone nodded and quickly left the tent.

Daemon went to a section of the wall and stayed there, along with a few people who followed him like a shadow. He simply stood watching as his men ran from one side to the other, preparing their weapons and positions. Even after working all day, they were still not completely ready, but they kept going.

The men raised doubts, because they were already preparing for a battle, when the sun was already setting... while they saw the camp being formed about a kilometer away from them.

Daemon stayed there until the sun began to disappear on the horizon.

"Let's begin," Daemon said as he started to go down the stairs.

On the other side of the battlefield, those who supported Blackfyre were all nervous. The Tyrells were troubled by the fact that Willas was under enemy control, and that he had threatened to kill him by the end of that afternoon.

Even if they wanted to, they could not simply leave Blackfyre's army...

A man entered the tent to report what they had seen through the spyglasses.

"There is still no sign of movement, aside from a possible defense against an attack from our side." The scout spoke openly.

"Why do they still expect us to attack?" Another asked.

"I do not know... but I am sure they are going to pull something..."

"We saw Daemon for a few hours on the wall, but he just left," the scout informed.

"They did not execute any prisoner as he said he would..."

"And he will not, you know they ran out of cards to keep us cautious, the prisoners are worth more alive than him keeping his word, in the end he is a coward." Lord Tarly replied, he respected Daemon, but in the end, even if it were suicide, not keeping his word was a great blow to the general's respect for Daemon.

"Of course it was just a bluff," Jon sighed, despite the anger he felt toward Daemon, the humiliation in every word he had spoken. How he hated that boy, son of that Northern she-wolf, who must also have been sharp with words like her son was, to manage to conquer and seduce Rhaegar into abandoning his family.

One of Oberyn's daughters entered the tent, while everyone looked at her. Obara Sand.

"You should not be here. Where is Arianne?", Aegon asked, since they had asked to call her, being the highest-ranking among Dorne's allies. They needed Arianne to organize the Dornish troops.

But Obara shook her head, while her eyes showed a reddish tone, indicating she had been crying — which was not surprising, after all her father had been beheaded the night before and thrown into the mud as if he were nothing.

Everything indicated that Oberyn had been blinded before he died. The cut across both of his eyes showed it had been very clean, done in a single motion, and then he lost his head.

"She is not here," Obara said. "She asked me to represent her. You must imagine that she is indisposed right now." With those words, no one said anything.

But Aegon exchanged a look with Jon and Varys. After all, this was an insult to the Dornish lords, with the status of a bastard, she should not be the one representing Arianne, and the Dornishwoman likely had not even thought about it.

Arianne was crying in her tent, along with Oberyn's other daughters, Nymeria and Tyene, they had begun to swear death upon Daemon.

Daemon would certainly laugh upon hearing the insults and curses they were throwing at him at that moment from more than fifteen hundred meters away, while Daemon was in the Dragonpit at that very moment.

"Your Grace! My lords. The white dragon flying over King's Landing is returning to the city," someone reported as they entered the tent.

"So he is planning something... Let's see what he is really going to do, I have a feeling it will be something bad... Tell the men to prepare!" Harry had a bad feeling about it.

They had not yet prepared to attack King's Landing because they were waiting for the ships of the Golden Company to approach. That was when they would finally launch the attack.

With those words, they left the tent to see if Daemon was about to do something, with him and the white dragon out of sight. Aegon's two dragons also descended, stopping on one side outside the camp.

Daemon, at that moment, was looking directly at Winter before tying something to the belt around his waist.

"I think this is good. Well, you are going to surprise them a bit," Daemon said, satisfied.

The next moment, he slapped the dragon's neck and it rose and began to flap its wings, but Daemon did not go with it, he remained on the ground of the pit.

Instead of mounting the dragon, he took his horse, put on a hood, and left with the group.

"Let's return to the south gate. Now the show will begin," Daemon said.

Meanwhile, he had tied a cloth dummy to Winter's back. The dragon began to rise in the last rays of sunlight, roaring, while people looked at it, seeing that it was mounted by something, and they began to shout — especially the soldiers.

That was a clear display of defiance toward Aegon Targaryen, who was no longer a true dragon rider, since he had lost his to a Greyjoy.

Winter was firm and strong, flying over the city with its roar echoing everywhere, and people thought they saw a figure mounted on it — a dummy tied with straps, wearing black armor similar to Daemon's.

Meanwhile, he moved with the group in hiding.

"He is drawing the camp's attention," they said among Aegon's main members.

When they observed the dragon from afar, they realized it was much more active than usual.

"He is going to try something..." Harry could not help but worry. Would Daemon launch an attack against them at the start of the night?

"Prepare yourselves! Prepare all forces!", Jon shouted immediately, as the men ran to their positions in Aegon's camp.

The dragon was provoking them.

"If he wanted to attack us, he could come at night directly. He is not going to do that," Aegon deduced. "Otherwise, he would not be making so much noise to draw attention."

The roars of that white dragon echoed, even provoking the two dragons in the enemy camp.

But then, suddenly, the white dragon simply began to turn and fly toward the other side, leaving the city behind.

"He is heading east!", they said. Meanwhile, Winter advanced toward the sea, moving out over the waters.

"He is going to attack the ships!", Harry noticed as he saw the dragon beginning to disappear on the horizon...

"Are you sure it was him on top of the dragon?", Aegon asked.

"Yes! I saw it clearly! There was a person riding it, with armor!", the man replied.

"He is going to destroy the fleet... he thinks I do not control my dragons!", Aegon began to shout, as he immediately ran toward one of the corners of the camp.

There, the roars were growing louder and louder, provoked by the ice dragon.

"Calm down!", Aegon shouted as he approached the dragons, pointing toward the city, strangely, when the black dragon was about to attack Aegon, the green one stepped in front, stopping it. Aegon was glad that the dragon was still protecting him.

"They are the enemies! We must finish them!" Aegon pointed toward the city and the distant camp, which looked like nothing more than an anthill from afar.

One of the dragons looked in that direction before nodding, able to hear his commands... The green dragon then began to roar and looked at the black dragon, the black dragon which was also already rising.

"Go!", Aegon ordered. The dragons hesitated for a moment, but then they flapped their wings and advanced toward the camp. First the green dragon, and the black dragon followed.

"They are obeying me...", Aegon said, almost unable to believe it.

And when he realized, the two dragons were indeed advancing to attack the northern forces, toward the formation where the captains and commanders of the army were.

Daemon, who was watching as he saw the two dragons begin to advance. His men were frightened at that moment.

Daemon exited through the south gate while watching the men shouting, demanding order and maintaining formation, as the dragons came at high speed.

Daemon could not help but smile. "Exactly as I wanted."

They had waited for Winter to completely disappear to feel safe enough to attack... Daemon had placed that armored dummy to draw attention, as if he were mounted and leaving. In truth, he controlled Winter through his warg abilities and had simply sent it to find the fleet. He himself would take control of the dragon's body and attack when the right moment came.

Because of that, he had only sent it forward until it found the ships. And now, just as he had predicted, the enemy advanced.

He removed his hood and waited.

"You knew this was going to happen?", Ygritte could not help but ask, curious. She remained cautious as she listened to the roars getting closer and closer.

Daemon nodded slightly. "More or less. I had an idea that this might happen."

With those words, he saw the two dragons beginning to split apart. They were going to attack the front group.

"Daemon, you cannot deal with two dragons!", Robb said, who was also there and already knew his plan.

But Daemon simply kept his smile the entire time. "Do not worry. I do not need to deal with two dragons. After all, one of them I have been controlling the entire time." Daemon said before looking at the black dragon advancing from the left.

"Let's just deal with the only wild dragon." He struck the horse, charging at full speed in that direction.

As the dragon approached, he did not even care about the green dragon. After all, a few days ago he had begun to enter its mind. Not by his own will — he was simply there. The green dragon connected to him, and that gave him the ability to control it.

That was why the green dragon managed to pull the black dragon into battle after Aegon commanded — it was a trap to first eliminate Blackfyre's dragons, which he should never have laid his hand upon.

After so long without killing dragons in Skyrim, Daemon galloped directly toward the dragon. He knew the dragon would have to get closer to the ground to use its flames.

As his horse galloped, kicking up grass and dirt at high speed, Daemon showed an even more malicious smile. "It is time to take down a little dragon." He said as he charged at full speed toward the dragon.
