Chapter 405: Gods Exchange Program
Chapter 405: Gods Exchange Program
The words spoken by Luowa brought an indescribable shock to the gods gathered before him!
Because in this world, such concepts were far beyond their reach, or rather, simply unimaginable.
They were all Gods, yet why did the disparity feel so astronomical? What did he mean by offering limitless resources? What did it mean to be granted hundreds of thousands of The Faithful upon joining?
Listen to this, did that even sound like human speech? Where was this organization? What was it called? Where was the morality? Where was the Law? And more importantly, what was the exact address?
We are all Deities of the Dylan Continent here—could you perhaps put in a good word and introduce us?
This was likely the true inner thought of these Deities from the Dylan Continent.
The emotions of jealousy, envy, and even anger that surfaced in their minds were simultaneously providing Bai Yang with a truly massive amount of Extraordinary Vow Power!
Even though the God of Justice and the God of Bards were Deities of the Lawful Good alignment, possessing exceptional Reputation and renown—it could even be said that their standing was impeccable across the entire continent's Divine Pantheons.
However, constrained by the overarching environment of the Dylan Continent, the subordinate deities under their command did not have it much better.
At best, they fared slightly better than Luowa had in the past. They might have a few more of The Faithful and some resources at their disposal, but they still could not escape the predicament of chronic resource scarcity. It wasn't just physical Matter, Divine Faith, or their Divine Portfolio that was restricted; even their space for activity was rigidly confined. They could only operate within a specific Realm or Domain.
Take Luowa's previous divine portfolio of cold, for instance. He could only emerge to move about, perform a Divine Miracle, and attract The Faithful during winter, at the peaks of high mountains, or at specific times during the Night.
Moreover, Deities governing peaks, seasons, and the Night also appeared in these same environments. They too needed to attract The Faithful during these specific timeframes, which led to an incredibly severe state of hyper-competition among the gods of the Dylan Continent.
They had to manifest during these brief windows of time and space to capture the attention of The Faithful and harvest their Wish Power, all just to achieve an almost imperceptible sliver of improvement.
And that was merely for acquiring Wish Power and The Faithful. As for gathering the resources required to upgrade their Divine Kingdom, the conditions were unimaginably harsh!
Luowa had essentially worked as a subordinate for the God of Ice and Snow just to secure the resources for his subsequent upgrades. He would have had to toil for about an Eon just to scrape together enough resources to even attempt a promotion to Weak Divinity.
Following the conventions of the Dylan Continent, it would take roughly ten such attempts before he could successfully achieve Weak Divinity. Only then could he establish his own Divine Pantheon, seek out his Subordinate Gods, and begin the resource accumulation cycle anew.
Yet even then, he would still need to find a deity with Medium Divine Power to act as his patron, continuing to offer up his own resources just for the chance to scavenge pitiful scraps from the cracks between the various Divine Pantheons.
The main reason he could advance at all was simply that he was already a God—one of the thousand most exalted beings in this world. If his situation was already this tragic, the plight of the ordinary mortals beneath him was naturally far beyond imagination!
These were the rules laid down by the beings with Powerful Divine Power across the entire continent. Gods of every alignment were forced to obey them, which inevitably fueled the Grudge held by the broader pantheon.
After all, those with Powerful Divine Power, newly ascended gods with strong backgrounds, and Deities whose Family controlled entire worlds could all rely on the backing behind them to effortlessly acquire Wish Power and resources, thereby gaining the strength to advance.
Meanwhile, the rest had to scrape by for hundreds of thousands of years just to reach the starting line of those newly minted gods. This grossly uneven distribution system left everyone seething with indignation.
However, no one could break these shackles—not even those with Powerful Divine Power. This had been the operational law of the Dylan Continent for countless years. While it was far from fair, it at least allowed these Deities to carry the world forward!
Garfield and Griffith, both possessing Powerful Divine Power, were naturally aware of this. In fact, they knew even more of the hidden truths.
The orchestrators of this distribution were those with even greater Powerful Divine Power than them—the few Chief Gods of Divine Rank Twenty who truly stood at the absolute pinnacle of the world!
And the core issue was not particularly complicated: the growing strength of the gods was beginning to interfere too heavily with the world's development.
Their rapid advancement sapped the world's power, which in turn weakened the world's ability to harvest resources from the outside. It could even threaten the safety of the entire realm, ultimately triggering a terrifying Ragnarok. The solution to such a crisis was simple: either prevent the gods from growing so strong so they consumed fewer resources, or severely bottleneck their speed of ascension.
Naturally, the Deities with Powerful Divine Power were unwilling to sacrifice themselves to make the world safer. Consequently, they forced the deities at the very bottom to shoulder a heavier burden.
The world was not entirely stagnant; it was expanding at a glacial pace. The elite gods firmly believed that as long as they made the lower-tier gods suffer a bit more, they would all have a chance to see tomorrow!
But now, after witnessing Luowa, the brand-new Matter he had brought, and hearing his words, these two gods of Powerful Divine Power clearly began to entertain new ideas.
"Your Excellency Luowa, is your purpose in coming here simply to flaunt your success to your former Colleagues?" Griffith asked. "As a traitor to this world, don't you think this is taking things a bit too far?"
As the God of Justice, Griffith fully understood the consequences of Luowa's actions.
After all, people were Not Worried About Scarcity But About Unequal Distribution. The gods had been able to endure it before because they had never seen the light. Now that they had witnessed a brighter path, even if the two beings of Powerful Divine Power strictly forbade such behavior, it would only breed deeper resentment.
On a smaller scale, it would cause turmoil within their two Divine Pantheons. On a grander scale, the very stability of this world was being threatened!
Hearing this, Luowa hurriedly explained, "This is not my intention. The endeavor I am currently undertaking originates from one of the Chief Gods of the Asgardian Pantheon, His Excellency Loki. He is highly intrigued by this world, and this welcoming gift was bestowed upon you by Him!"
Luowa was, after all, merely a lowly Demigod who had yet to fully ascend. He couldn't withstand this kind of pressure, nor did he ever intend to try. Instead, he immediately pulled out his powerful backer!
'The Asgardian Chief God, Loki?' Griffith and Garfield both thought, their hearts skipping a beat. While the other Deities might not know who that was, they naturally knew, having gained some understanding of the neighboring Mythology.
In Norse Mythology, this figure was the Mastermind who brought about Ragnarok. He was an existence that annihilated the gods—an Evil God, the God of Doomsday!
However, based on their understanding of Mythology, they could roughly guess that such tales were merely stories of a Divine Pantheon's changing of the guard. Gods were immortal and imperishable; how could they be so easily and completely destroyed?
Yet, this story also highlighted Loki's immense strength and his crucial status within the Asgardian Pantheon. Thus, they were eager to hear what kind of profound insights a true Chief God—one belonging to a Creator Pantheon and capable of traversing Endless Worlds—might have to offer.
Garfield took the initiative to ask, "Since there is a gift, there must be a condition. What are Loki's demands?"
Such a massive Meteorite was merely a welcoming gift. Just thinking about it made it obvious that the demands of this "Evil God" would be far from ordinary!
Luowa smiled. "His Excellency Loki hopes to select a group of Deities from this world to travel to ours, in order to study the unique traits of the Dylan Continent's gods. Of course, in exchange, we will also inform your gods about the distinct characteristics of the Asgardian Pantheon, and perhaps even other Divine Pantheons!"
"To use a phrase from the Civilization I currently reside in, this is an Academic Exchange. Different Divine Pantheons naturally possess varying methods of utilizing rules, Energy, and Divine Faith!"
"If you agree, His Excellency Loki is willing to directly grant an abundant share of Material Resources, and perhaps even Energy and faith resources, to every deity who participates in this exchange!"
Luowa's tone carried a distinct sense of superiority. "After all, in the eyes of our Divine Pantheon, these are not particularly critical resources. But for the Dylan Continent... that's a different story entirely, isn't it?"
He truly felt a genuine sense of superiority, akin to a wealthy city dweller visiting impoverished relatives. After all, he was picturing the boundless immensity of the cosmos and the sheer, staggering wealth of his current Divine Pantheon—a stark contrast to the impoverished Dylan Continent!
Hearing these words, the Deities across the entire region instantly erupted into a restless frenzy!
Yes, this was Bai Yang and Alvin's ultimate master plan!
Since they could not block the prying eyes of the other side, rather than letting them endlessly spy from the Darkness, it was better to be bold and place them directly under their own supervision.
This way, not only could they cultivate a faction within the Dylan Continent's pantheon that was loyal to their Myriad Worlds—continuously funneling their ideals into this realm—but these exchange gods would also serve as a perfect observation window into their world. Perhaps one day, they could even reach their hands directly through this newly opened gap!
