Chapter 154: The Councilwoman's Contempt
Chapter 154: The Councilwoman's Contempt
"It looks like he is fitting in quite well!" Watching Luowa's performance, Bai Yang almost wanted to applaud him.
As expected of a Demigod who fought his way out of the chaotic melting pot of the Dylan Continent. Any deity who could survive the Divine War certainly had some real skills.
He had already made contact with Freya and directly used a prayer to prove his identity.
Since everyone was under Odin's command, a single prayer involving their Divine Faith was enough to absolutely confirm their identities—unless someone dared to falsely claim they were a believer while under the gaze of the God King.
To them, such a thing was entirely impossible. After all, that was a being of Powerful Divine Power, the God King himself!
Whoever dared to actually do such a thing in Odin's name would truly be courting death. 'To be known whenever spoken of' was a basic ability of the Gods.
(Isn't that right, Leodero?)
Of course, they had no way of knowing that the so-called Odin was merely an image in Bai Yang's plan, one that had not even been fully conceptualized yet.
It could only be said that Bai Yang's plan was far too successful. The existence of this Divine Pantheon was already an undeniable truth in everyone's minds!
The Wish Power of The Faithful was still Wish Power, and it was even Transcendent Wish Power. The effects were far better, capable of converting into even more Divine Power for Bai Yang. However, the current Bai Yang was no longer the reckless youth who had just obtained the Godhood. Things like Divine Power were not necessarily better just because there was more of it. At least in the current environment, the truly superior resource was actually Wish Power!
The direct applications of Wish Power were not actually that vast, but its chemical reaction with the Divinity of Lies was simply too perfect. The sheer intensity with which that Wish Power turned falsehoods into reality left both Bai Yang and Alvin astonished!
Under the powerful convictions of many people, that Wish Power had a definite chance of manifesting into reality. More importantly, its consumption rate was even lower than that of Divine Power. It was practically a match made in heaven!
Alvin, on the other hand, had some new thoughts. He looked at the three people discussing the rise of the Aesir Religion and said with a chuckle, "Crown, should we lend them a hand and stir up a few more incidents?"
"Oh?" Hearing Alvin's words, Bai Yang looked rather curious. "It is rare for you to be so proactive. What do you want to do?"
"One always learns a thing or two after being exposed to your methods!" Alvin replied. "Perhaps we can add another layer of legitimacy to their actions... What do you say we start with Niolde?"
"The God of Summer and the Sea God?" Bai Yang found the idea very interesting, and the conversation among the three people before him was equally intriguing. He nodded slightly. "Alright, let us start from the direction they have chosen... The appearance of an orthodox deity will greatly aid in the gathering of Wish Power!"
Thinking about it, it made perfect sense. These Northern Europeans, who relied on maritime transport for their livelihood, inherently worshipped the god of summer, the sea, and sailing. They could genuinely pull off something massive!
"Looking at it this way, does it seem like those with devout Divine Faith are all relatively righteous people?" Bai Yang once again focused on their conversation.
Surprisingly, the three people before him were discussing how to rescue innocent victims from a human trafficking Chain. Such a righteous endeavor left Bai Yang slightly taken aback.
Was it because the people he selected possessed exceptionally high moral standards, or was this world simply too messed up, causing anyone with a normal Worldview to naturally perform righteous deeds upon gaining power?
Bai Yang seemed to already have an answer in his heart.
The people of the world were all fundamentally honest and simple-minded. As for their higher-ups, well, it seemed to just be a matter of how successfully they could masquerade as human beings!
......
Three days later, Ribersborg Beach, Malmö.
Here, the members of the Aesir Religion and their followers were preparing for a special Sacrifice Ritual.
Luowa took the lead, with Freya serving as the primary officiant and Percival acting as her assistant, while the group of believers they had recruited served as the choir for the collective chanting.
It was a grand event. Although the Aesir Religion held significant prestige in this city, they had been too busy to properly integrate their followers. Therefore, both Luowa and Freya felt this was an excellent opportunity.
In the past, Freya certainly would not have dared to do this. After all, such a public display meant the sect would completely expose itself to the public and directly clash with the official powers of the city. They simply lacked the confidence for that.
But now, with Luowa's arrival, they finally had that confidence!
Regardless of the culture, the status of a Saint was virtually the same—they were reserve deities. In all sorts of Myths and Legends, they were top-tier figures second only to the Gods themselves.
Luowa's presence acted as a pillar of stability, completely reassuring the hearts of everyone in the entire region.
Naturally, this gave the newly born sect an entirely new set of ambitions! Money was a hero's courage, and power was a sect's soul. When one held a sharp blade, the intent to kill would naturally arise. With a Saint who could be considered a Nuclear Weapon in their ranks, they undeniably became much more radical.
Conducting the Sacrifice Ritual on this beach was certainly no random choice; it had been meticulously planned.
Because on this very day, the smuggling channels of the destroyed True Allah Gang were scheduled to deliver another ship full of cargo, serving as a fresh restock for the city's supply.
This was the information Freya had managed to pry out of the mouths of several police officers.
The so-called rescue of innocents could actually be framed another way—it was about destroying the Government's credibility and replacing it with the sect's own!
When that time came, the master of this city would no longer be the Government, but the Aesir Religion. Every single person who entered the city would become at least a superficial believer!
This was Luowa's truly unsolvable masterstroke. This method of gathering Divine Faith was far faster than simply performing miracles in front of the masses.
......
"Councilwoman Noree, the information you requested has arrived!" In a municipal building not far from the beach, Hannah Noree was receiving a special intelligence report.
The person relaying the message to her was a City Councilor of Malmö and her collaborator in the city, Don Nottingham.
"Don, tell me again. Was our distribution channel genuinely wiped out by some newly emerged sect?" Hannah looked at the documents in her hand, still reluctant to believe it.
The True Allah Gang was considered one of her top three money-making syndicates in all of Malmö. Had they really been eradicated just like that?
And wiped out by a religious sect, no less? Not by Christianity or Islam, but by some obsolete, ancient religion?
What Odin and Thor? Weren't those the deities of the Vikings? She had heard that their lineage was practically extinct. How could they possibly experience a revival?
Don Nottingham's gaze grew heavy. "Yes, Your Excellency! We saw them walking out of the premises with the cargo, and the only gang members left inside were seven leaders who had been mauled to death!"
"Mauled to death?" Hannah paused in surprise. "Was that the work of the cargo?"
"Most likely!" Don nodded slightly. "They appeared to be upholding justice for those people, granting them the authority to exact judgment!"
"We haven't spoken a word, so who gave them the right to pass judgment? What on earth is the Malmö Police Department doing?!" Hannah flared with anger.
"The Police Department hasn't provided any feedback, and the officers are all keeping their mouths shut. I suspect they've already suffered a loss at their hands!" Don continued. "This sect cannot be underestimated. They definitely possess heavy firepower, or else they couldn't have destroyed our cash cow so quickly!"
"So they have some power in their hands... What are they doing now?" Hannah asked, her curiosity piqued.
"They are gathering on a nearby beach right now. They are likely planning to offer sacrifices to their deity, the Norse God King Odin, I assume?" Don's answer wasn't entirely certain. "They might be trying to use this method to expand their influence and continue opposing us!"
"Hah, a Don Quixote-style charge!"
The Councilwoman's face was full of contempt. Were these country bumpkins still clinging to their decrepit, decaying mythologies, actually believing those ancient deities could support them?
What use was it? She merely needed to propose a simple piece of legislation, and all the efforts of these people would instantly turn to dust!
She was definitely going to submit a motion, something along the lines of the Religious Influence Restriction Act, directly crushing them through official, legal channels!
After all, this group had destroyed one of her revenue streams. Even though such gangs could easily be formed among the Refugees, establishing an entire operational system still required time.
Wouldn't the money she lost during this transition period simply vanish for nothing?
That was exactly why she had urgently arranged for a brand-new shipment of cargo and assigned her newly scouted gang to take over the operations.
As for this so-called Aesir Religion—hmph, they ruined her business and still wanted to continue expanding? In what world would things be that easy for them?
"What is the point of cultivating violence? This is a modern society. True power has never been violence, but authority!" Hannah declared disdainfully. "After today's events conclude, someone will make the leaders of this sect disappear!"
"As for their church and their congregation... they too will vanish one by one in the days to follow!"
"They have no idea what kind of opponent they have provoked. In this country, no one dares to lay a finger on my assets!"
Hearing her say this, Don smiled slightly. "Of course. You are the Rising Star of the council. Come your next term, it will be time for you to ascend to the throne of Speaker of the National Parliament!"
"Hahaha!" Hannah laughed, her eyes brimming with absolute confidence!
