From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 116: The Ocean's Sonata

Chapter 116: The Ocean's Sonata

Angus strode toward the seaside, taking the steps two at a time. The blessing of the Holy Light allowed him to move at a nearly impossible speed. Leaving the remote church behind, he rushed forward and arrived near the port in no time at all.

Today was another bright and sunny day in Miami. Under the blazing sun, tourists from all over the world were comfortably sunbathing on the beach, while dockworkers drenched in sweat were busy loading and unloading cargo.

Ships were docked along the coast, sailing into the port one after another, painting a picture of a bustling, lively scene.

At a time like this, if someone told them that the Apocalypse was imminent, would they even believe it?

With that thought in mind, his gaze swept over the surrounding crowd. However, the information relayed by his Cross made Angus frown even more deeply.

Upon looking at these people, he saw signs of impending crisis and death. In other words, if he did not intervene, every single one of them would die rapidly in the moments to come.

'Does that Sea Monster actually possess such terrifying power? To kill this many people in one breath?'

Angus suddenly realized that this would likely be an exaggerated crisis on par with the Luo City Tornado. It wasn't just about Monsters; it could be a natural disaster!

He just didn't know if this Monster had appeared out of nowhere, or if it was connected to certain gods again.

'Could it be that the Monster is capable of triggering a terrifying Tsunami across this stretch of ocean?' Angus fell silent.A Tsunami was nothing like a hurricane. The destructive power of a Tsunami was exponentially greater than that of a storm!

If a Tsunami truly made landfall in this city of over ten million people, even a mere five percent mortality rate would result in an unimaginable death toll!

And the reality could be far worse. It would be an incalculable natural disaster, unprecedented even in the entire history of America!

"You really can see the future just like me. As expected of a Cardinal of The Church!" A familiar voice rang in Angus's ears. It was the man named He Sai.

Hearing those words, Angus seemed to understand something. This man also possessed the means to see the future. "What did you see?"

"I saw a massive Tsunami, a terrifying giant serpent, and a destroyed city!" He Sai declared. "You saw it too, didn't you? The crisis of the Apocalypse is threatening this very city!"

Angus nodded. "That serpent is named Atlas, a terrifying Monster capable of causing catastrophic disasters... Are you still not leaving?"

"This city is my preaching ground, I absolutely will not leave! Death and disaster are the best places to spread Divine Faith!" He Sai scoffed. "Why don't you leave first? Isn't the Catholic Church accustomed to To Act Prudently to Protect Oneself?"

He Sai was mocking the numerous historical instances where the outbreak of crises in continental Europe led to the Pope fleeing.

An ordinary Clergyman or Bishop would likely be furious at such a remark, but not Angus. From He Sai's words, he discerned the origin of the impending crisis.

Just as he suspected, it was a terrifying Monster crisis. It seemed Pope Mario was right; the world had already changed. What was once a peaceful world was now suffering invasions from extraordinary Monsters.

Various threats would come pouring in one after another.

Demons, Werewolves, Vampires, otherworldly gods, and now an unknown Sea Monster had appeared...

Of course, Angus could not just sit back and watch this happen. Without hesitation, he made a phone call to Golden Hair, who was still in the White House.

"Mr. Great Leader, this is Angus!" His tone was incredibly urgent, causing Golden Hair to pause as he answered the phone. "Cardinal Angus? Didn't you just leave for Miami?"

"Yes, I am in Miami right now!" Angus confirmed. "I have something extremely important to tell you. Can you contact the Governor of Florida right now?"

Golden Hair's heart skipped a beat. "Has something happened in Miami too?"

Surprisingly, he didn't find the idea too outrageous. Sure enough, when bizarre things happen frequently enough, people become numb to them.

"Yes, a Tsunami is coming. I need you to have the Governor step forward to seal off the beaches, close the ports, and evacuate as many people as possible!" Angus urged. "This massive Tsunami is going to destroy this city!"

Hearing those words, Golden Hair went completely rigid!

He didn't really want to believe Father Angus's claims, but he knew he couldn't afford to gamble! If Miami truly got wiped out by a Tsunami, the responsibility for such a disaster would be far greater than 9/11!

That would be a terrifying catastrophe capable of capsizing all of America. He would rather believe the priest's warning!

"What the fuck!" Golden Hair hung up the phone and immediately ordered his staff to contact the Governor of Florida, his devoted admirer, Sanders Rodriguez!

He had once considered bringing Sanders into his cabinet. Although it ultimately didn't happen, the gesture had only strengthened their relationship.

"Wow, my dear Great Leader, you actually reached out to me. I am deeply honored! Is there anything you need me to do? I can publish an article blasting Nuland right now!" Sanders's voice came through the line, bringing a wave of comfort to Golden Hair. This was a true supporter, far better than those two-faced hypocrites.

Golden Hair cut straight to the chase. "Sanders, close the beaches and ports immediately. Evacuate everyone from the coast to the interior, and make it fast!"

"Huh?" Sanders was dumbfounded by the command. "Great Leader, the Port of Miami is the largest port in Florida! We have over five hundred container ships moving in and out every single day, not to mention warships and yachts. We can't just close it on a whim!"

He assumed Golden Hair was just getting a bit too fired up with his grand rhetoric and figured a couple of words of gentle persuasion would calm him down.

Golden Hair, of course, did not see it that way. He bellowed, "I am not discussing this with you, Sanders! This is an order, an executive order from The Federation! Close the ports immediately and send the ships out to sea!"

"You must have heard the rumors on your end too, so I won't hide it from you. Yes, all the news circulating throughout the country lately about Transcendence, Monsters, gods, and hidden history—it is all completely true!"

"The man who just arrived in your city is a Cardinal personally appointed by the Pope. He just called me and said that a Tsunami is about to hit your city!"

"I don't care how you view me in the future, and I don't care about the financial losses! Right now, you will evacuate the crowds and lock down those ports! Make it quick!"

"I will give the order to the Pentagon to move their naval vessels out of port. The rest of Florida is entirely up to you!"

Golden Hair's roaring voice blasted into Sanders's ear, causing the Governor's expression to turn incredibly grim!

It also drew astonished looks from the various Florida officials who were currently in a meeting with him. They watched the Governor hang up the phone before he delivered a single command: "Close the beaches and the ports. Notify the police department and the National Guard to enforce martial law, starting from the harbor! Alert everyone in low-lying areas and have them evacuate to higher ground! A Tsunami is coming!"

After issuing those orders, Sanders looked as though he had been drained of all his strength, slumping weakly back into his chair.

A nearby aide tentatively spoke up. "Your Excellency, could this be a misjudgment? After all... there is not a single cloud in the sky outside!"

Golden Hair could spout nonsense whenever he wanted because he was the Great Leader. However, for them, executing this order meant making a monumental, heaven-shaking gamble with their entire political careers!

"I said, execute the order!" Sanders hissed, his voice strained. "I don't know anything about a misjudgment, nor do I know whether these things are true or false. But I do know one thing: yesterday, the patriarch of the Smith family took the initiative to donate one hundred million dollars to the Church!"

Hearing this, everyone present froze in disbelief!

They all knew exactly how the Smith family operated in Miami. As true Old Money and a veteran political dynasty, they had merely conjured up a random excuse to brush Sanders off when he first took office, not even bothering to show up in person.

The Smiths were never seen participating in public charities or Church fundraisers. They were notoriously known throughout the city as a family of penny-pinchers. Yet now, they had actually donated to the Church? And a staggering one hundred million at that?

Just what in the world had they seen out there to prompt such an action?

The officials easily caught the underlying implication in Sanders's words. Since even the ultra-conservative Smith family had begun to believe in Transcendence, were they really going to stubbornly maintain the status quo and bet against its existence?

"Right away, Your Excellency!" The group was finally jolted awake by the gravity of the command and sprang into action.

Meanwhile, the commander of the American Southern Forces stationed in the Miami area also received Golden Hair's orders.

"What does this mean? He wants us to deploy all our vessels near Miami out to sea? Has the Great Leader lost his mind?"

The General, having received the directive from the Pentagon, wore an expression of sheer shock, completely baffled as to what kind of fit his boss was throwing this time. "What do you mean a Tsunami is coming? We've been monitoring the seas all this time, how come I didn't know about any Tsunami..."

Right before his eyes, blaring red alarms suddenly echoed throughout the entire command center.

The shrill "Beep-beep-beep" of the warning sirens instantly rendered him speechless.

On the massive monitor before them, a colossal wall of ocean water was slowly rising up. Behind that towering wall of water, a dark, massive silhouette seemed to loom menacingly!

"The weather displays are normal, there are no meteorological warnings, and there aren't even any Cumulonimbus Clouds! How can there be a Tsunami?!" Throughout the command center, the Staff Officers who had just been complaining about Golden Hair shot up from their seats.

Before their very eyes, the completely calm weather radar combined with the fiercely blaring real-time alarms created a bizarre and terrifying sonata of the ocean!
