Chapter 672: The Sunset Is Infinitely Beautiful
The sunset was beautiful, and every moment in the small town seemed to slow down.
Across the arched bridge, there was a tailor shop. Nora Northwood glanced at the old tailor’s hands, trying to see how each stitch was sewn.
Jasper Sinclair saw her interest and said to her, "Let’s go take a look."
The old tailor at the edge of the alley greeted them with a smile and asked if they wanted to custom-make a cheongsam.
"Sir, we’re just here for a visit. It might not be convenient."
"It’ll only take three to five days. My little shabby shop isn’t as busy as you might think."
It was the first time Nora had heard someone call their own shop a "little shabby shop," which piqued her curiosity.
Looking at it, it didn’t seem too shabby?
The old tailor added, "With a bust, hips, and a bit of a belly, that’s the perfect woman, most suitable for wearing a cheongsam."
In modern times, people see slimness as beauty, everyone eager to shed extra pounds, but the old tailor claimed that having some belly was ideal.
There was also a blonde foreign woman in the shop, giving another old tailor a challenge.
The foreign woman said in fluent Chinese, "I want an elegant yet sexy cheongsam."
Here, the old tailor took out the shop’s prized items for Nora, saying, "Young lady, don’t be in a rush to refuse, try it on."
Nora indeed liked cheongsams.
She waved her hand, "Thank you, sir. Trying it on is too much trouble, I’ll just take another look."
The rejected old tailor wasn’t angry and selected a few more fabrics to compare in front of her.
Nora took a liking to one of the fabrics and asked Jasper Sinclair, "Does it have an old Shanghai vibe?"
It felt like traveling back to the 1970s, with the haunting tune of a love ballad echoing in the ears...
The old tailor took out another light-colored style and handed it to her, "Young lady, this color matches your earrings very well!"
Unable to resist the old tailor’s enthusiastic invitation, Nora followed him inside to have her measurements taken with a tape measure.
In the shop, there was only an elderly couple, looking a bit overwhelmed.
The old tailor recorded Nora’s measurements on paper with a 2B pencil, commonly used years ago.
They paid a deposit, and the old tailor promised with great confidence that they could pick it up in a few days and that the young lady would not be disappointed.
As the sun set, the weather became incredibly pleasant.
The restaurant they went to had a pair of stone lions standing guard at the entrance.
Nora asked with a smile, "Which one do you think is the lioness?"
"Maybe it’s the male lion with their lion cub," Jasper Sinclair responded with a smile as well, his voice soothing and reassuring.
After entering, they passed through a long pebble corridor, with a few paper lanterns hanging at both ends, lighting their way forward.
The man walked in front, and Nora hooked her fingers into his palm, occasionally giving a slight squeeze, making his heart itch with longing.
The waiter met them at the end of the corridor, smiling as he asked, "Are you Mr. Sinclair and Mrs. Sinclair?"
"Yes." When Jasper Sinclair responded to others, the warmth in his voice disappeared, replaced by calmness.
The restaurant staff had been informed early on about the visit from two distinguished guests and had made thorough preparations.
On one side of the main hall, a woman in a cheongsam was sitting behind a silk curtain, playing the pipa, her face partially hidden, as if embodying such a scene.
The waiter led them to a private room on the second floor, where a menu with gold-encrusted edges lay on the table, an extravagant touch, hinting at the luxurious dishes inside.
Jasper Sinclair pulled out a chair for Nora and asked the waiter if they could provide a hair tie.
