Chapter 673: Wishes Lose Their Magic If Spoken

Chapter 673: Wishes Lose Their Magic If Spoken

The waiter with a creamy appearance pulled out a thin black elastic band as if performing magic.

"For you."

The waiter noticed the man humbly combing his wife’s hair and complimented them, "Your relationship with your wife is wonderful. I’ll bring you a few more elastic bands later."

"Thank you," Nora responded, her lips unable to resist curving upwards.

Once Jasper took his seat, the two of them began to browse the menu together.

The exquisite plating was not labeled with prices, probably because the patrons here don’t care about the cost.

Nora’s gaze shifted from left to right, then from right to left, as if she was indecisive.

The waiter noticed they were not locals and asked at the right moment, "Do either of you have dietary restrictions?"

"My husband doesn’t like dishes that are too spicy."

"Would you like me to recommend some signature dishes?"

"Yes, please help us with that."

The waiter then introduced a few local specialty dishes in order according to the menu.

Each plate only had enough for two or three bites.

Using Lily Sloan’s words: Not even enough to fill a gap between teeth.

In no time, the table was filled with dishes, each uniquely styled.

Nora pondered the chef’s unique plating, and Jasper, perceiving her thoughts, asked, "Are you thinking of recruiting the chef here as well?"

"Not entirely impossible."

There was one dish that Nora glanced at several times, and Jasper asked the waiter to place it in front of her.

The waiter continued with the introduction, "This dish is Su-style smoked pomfret fish, the whole fish is pan-fried then stewed, locking the sauce within the fish meat. Take a bite and it bursts with flavor."

Midway through the meal, Jasper dismissed the waiter; he disliked having someone watching them as they ate, finding it uncomfortable.

Before leaving, the restaurant manager inquired if the waiter had neglected any aspect of their service.

Nora firmly denied, and when tipping, she marked the amount as "500".

Jasper lowered his eyes, staring into hers.

Nora had captivating eyes, a typical almond shape when natural, and when she smiled, they’d narrow charmingly, making her irresistible.

Once they were alone, Jasper mentioned, "Being quite generous today."

Their resting place was in a guesthouse.

The guesthouse was located in the deepest part of the town, somewhat isolated from the world.

Fortunately, the place was bustling with visitors, as many tourists chose to stay here, preventing the surroundings from becoming too desolate.

The guesthouse’s courtyard had an artificial fountain, glistening under the moonlight.

Nora was surprised, "There are some koi fish inside."

"Throw a coin in and make a wish."

"That’s a child’s game."

Nora refused verbally, yet sincerely brought her hands together in a wishful pose.

The evening breeze was gentle, and Jasper’s gaze seemed to try penetrating her unease, hoping to peep into her heart’s wish.

"What did you wish for?"

Nora remained silent, "It’s a secret; revealing it would make it ineffective."

"Stingy."

The girl’s brows and eyes curved, and the smile on her lips added an innocent coyness, making her appear utterly simple.

Despite the wear and tear of time and all she had been through, Nora retained a clean almond gaze, unbound by worldly constraints.

While the two were relaxing in comfort, the team at VK was frantically busy.

Especially, the twenty odd perfumers from the Perfume Department.

Megan Underwood, the manager of the Perfume Department, was inspecting whether her subordinates had mastered the professional knowledge and if they had shown progress since a month ago.
