Chapter 671: Always Have Your Back
Chapter 671: Always Have Your Back
"How could I not."
Jasper Sinclair bent down to kiss her hair, his hand resting gently on her back, patting lightly, as if soothing a small child.
The appearance of Peach Bell indeed cast a shadow over Nora Northwood’s heart.
To help her let go of those unpleasant memories, Jasper decided to take her out early for a change of scenery.
The original ’A Riverian Town Plan’ was to set off in two days, but after this incident, it was moved up by almost a day and a half.
Before the trip, Nora received a phone call from the firm.
On the call, the person said that the ’Whispering Springs’ project had been added under her name.
Initially, Nora thought she was dealing with a scammer and almost hung up.
Later, she realized it was Jasper who spent a fortune to buy the entire Whispering Springs.
At the very least, it was upwards of five hundred million.
The group of old-timers investing in the Whispering Springs project were unwilling to let go of this prized land.
Elaine chimed in with a few words, and everyone sold it out of favor for her, thus allowing Whispering Springs to change its name.
Nora jokingly asked Jasper, "You wouldn’t also buy the Riverian Town, would you?"
"If you like it, it’s not impossible."
Hearing Jasper’s tone, it didn’t seem like he was joking; Nora had ample reason to believe he could truly pull it off.
Behind the jest, she was also intrigued, "Roughly estimate, how much would this time be worth in billions?"
"Over there is an as yet undeveloped tourist spot. Unless you can connect with the government, trying to spend money to acquire it would be somewhat difficult."
"Meaning you can’t buy it even if you have money, right?"
"That’s true for others, but not for you."
As the conversation ended, Nora once again marveled at the boldness of capitalists; wealth is truly capricious!
She shifted her position slightly and sat directly on Jasper’s lap, cupping his chin with her hands, and teased about his stubble, saying, "Did you skip shaving this morning?"
"Hmm."
"You say you’re so good at spending money; what if one day you go bankrupt?"
"I have enough savings to take care of you."
Nora chuckled at the joke, then got up to start packing.
The Riveria Region is mostly humid, so she deliberately put a camphor ball in her suitcase.
The town harbors a thicker sense of spring; green trees and red flowers are visible everywhere, lush and verdant.
When they landed, it was sunset.
Nora forgot all about dinner, engrossed in holding Jasper’s hand and watching the sunset.
Half of it had already set, and time felt exceptionally slow.
The arch bridge was filled with people, all soaking in the beauty of the twilight, lingering and nostalgic, while the aroma of food from the small eateries now seemed insignificant.
A soft breeze brushed through, slightly tousling Nora’s hair.
The person beside her helped gather her long hair behind her head, his fingers gently brushing her earlobe, his actions saturated with tender affection.
"Nora, no matter what happens, I’ll unconditionally stand by your side, just as you trust me, I’ll always have your back."
"When you’re old and your back can’t stay straight, will you still back me?"
"Yes, I’ll support you." Jasper spoke as he took out a pair of ornaments from his pocket.
The mutton fat jade glowed more gently in the orange-yellow light, accentuating Nora’s graceful demeanor.
Jasper helped her put them on her earlobes, their slender design immediately making her face look a shade smaller, an instant effect.
The man was not stingy with his compliments, praising her compatibility with the jade accessory, nearing perfection.
