Chapter 636: Rural Cottage
Chapter 636: Rural Cottage
When has someone like Jasper Sinclair ever traveled by bus with a tour group?
Being cramped in such a small vehicle, it’s truly a step down for him.
After trying it out, Nora Northwood felt a bit guilty and suggested, "How about having the driver take you?"
"It’s okay, let’s just consider it an experience of understanding the people’s lives,"
With Jasper saying that, two-thirds of Nora’s guilt dissipated immediately.
She placed the small suitcase she had packed away under the seat.
The gentle spring breeze was mild, and fluffy clouds covered half of the sunlight, so it wasn’t too harsh.
The farther the bus drove, the fewer city sights appeared, replaced by lush trees and vast stretches of greenery.
Nora opened the window closest to her, leaned her elbow on the sill, and admired the retreating scenery.
After about an hour and a half, they arrived at the foot of the mountain.
The hotel was nearby, and everyone unanimously decided to drop off their luggage first before heading up the mountain.
The dining venue was a remote farm courtyard halfway up the mountain, and the prices were not cheap.
The good news was that all expenses for the trip would be reimbursed by VK Finance, provided they were reasonable.
Just before entering the hotel, Nora warned the others, "The environment inside might not be great, but since we’re experiencing the people’s lives, we might as well go all out."
Before going in, Jasper thought, how bad could it be? It’s a place for people to stay after all!
In the end, he couldn’t suppress the disdain on his face.
He regretted, saying, "Had I known, I would have had the driver park at the foot of the mountain, at least there’d be a place to sleep."
Nora understood his implication and quickly comforted him, "Sleeping in a bed is always better than in a car. I brought disposable sheets and covers, I’ll make the bed later."
"Let’s go find the others first."
Thus, Jasper was utterly disappointed with the place.
As they left, he said, "If you like hiking, I’ll get someone to develop this area, at least make it a decent tourist spot, and renovate the hotel."
"If it’d make a good profit, it could be considered."
Actually, for ordinary people, this place was already top-notch.
But, Jasper lived among the clouds, so he’d be extremely uncomfortable.
Yet, to consider Nora’s feelings, he didn’t show his dissatisfaction too clearly.
Next came a gentle mountain path.
After walking a few hundred meters, one could clearly feel the forest leaves getting greener, shielding pedestrians from most of the sunlight.
The main purpose of this trip was relaxation and fun.
So, the difficulty and incline of the hike were only two stars, requiring not much effort to reach halfway up the mountain.
The group rested at the farm courtyard with half an hour left until lunchtime.
Jasper glanced over the customized menu by the owner, and from his expression, it was far from being ideal.
Nora could only continue to reassure him, "Although the names aren’t appealing, the food here doesn’t have lots of additives and ripeners, it’s healthier, don’t you think?"
After she finished, she couldn’t help but laugh; it was admittedly a bit of a stretch.
Jasper understood her intentions and told her to relax, "No need to always cater to my feelings. We’re here to relax; your feelings are important too."
Hearing this, Nora was deeply touched, nodded, and said no more.
