Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk

Chapter 598: Injured Knee

Chapter 598: Injured Knee

Andrea Miller went back to VK a week later to handle her resignation.

Nora Northwood heard about it and deliberately waited at the door of the HR department.

Upon meeting again, the two seemed much more distant.

Andrea looked at her, eyes wary, as if afraid she might not be able to leave.

The former partners had become like this, and it pricked Nora’s heart, leaving an unspeakable frustration.

After some mental preparation, she bluntly asked, "What benefits did the Woodward Family offer you?"

Andrea’s expression changed repeatedly, from surprise to avoidance, as if she didn’t expect this matter to be exposed so soon.

"Nothing beneficial, just different standpoints."

"Explain your standpoint."

Andrea’s face flushed red, and she couldn’t utter a word for a while. What standpoint did she have? She was just unsatisfied with the status quo!

"If you’re looking for a better place, you could just tell me directly rather than making excuses claiming it’s your own reasons. The circle is so small that any disturbance quickly becomes known to everyone."

These words laid things bare; Andrea felt aggrieved inside and angrily retorted, "I’ve been working as a perfumer at VK since its early stages, trailing behind you and Megan Underwood for almost a year. Even Shane Hamilton, who joined later, has started designing independently. Why should I still serve as an assistant to others?"

Nora expended considerable effort and finally pushed her to reveal the truth.

Immediately afterwards, they brushed past each other.

Both won a verbal victory, yet Nora rationalized to herself that she hadn’t done anything wrong.

She admitted, Andrea is a talented perfumer.

But, in many specific situations, "talent" isn’t worth much, including her own talent.

When the entire perfuming department stayed late for overtime, Andrea wasn’t there; when everyone was eagerly studying formula sheets, Andrea wasn’t there; when preparations were being made for the exhibition, Andrea still wasn’t there.

This is why VK hadn’t promoted her or raised her salary—it was Andrea who failed to seize opportunities, not anyone else’s fault.

Upon further thought, Andrea holds many of VK’s product formulas.

Nora isn’t sure whether she would reveal them to the Woodward Family.

Of course, if she did, VK certainly wouldn’t let her off easily!

For the entire rest of the day, Nora was in a distracted state.

While using the restroom, the cleaning aunt had just mopped the floor. She slipped, her knee bruised and scraped, the wounded area looking frighteningly bloody.

Jasper Sinclair saw her hobbling out of VK and his heart jumped to his throat.

"I told you to take care of yourself, not to make a little cripple out of yourself." He said as he supported Nora, his eyes full of concern.

After getting in the car, he immediately pulled up Nora’s skirt.

Nora was startled, her eyes warning him to stop—there’s a driver up front watching!

Jasper was so focused on her injury that he forgot about that. He then raised the partition.

Once the divider was fully up, he again lifted her skirt; the wound had only been simply disinfected, and now the blood had dried, but it still formed a large, deep color.

Nora bore with it, even she herself refrained from looking closely.

A voice came from above, "Let’s go to the hospital first to treat the wound."

"It’s just a minor surface wound; no need to make a big deal out of it. I got off early today and I want to spend some time with you at home."

In the end, after Nora’s gentle persuasion, the steering wheel didn’t turn towards the hospital but headed back to the villa.
