Chapter 541: Haven’t Had Enough Yet?
Chapter 541: Haven’t Had Enough Yet?
The sensations and smells hit Nora Northwood with a dual impact, enough to make her mind explode.
Suddenly, she became tense and uneasy.
"Nora."
Jasper Sinclair suddenly smiled.
"Why don’t you sleep in the study room tonight?" Nora, being a bit thick-skinned, suggested what she thought was a brilliant idea.
A flock of crows flew over Jasper Sinclair’s head as he stared at her for a few seconds, his gaze deep and dark.
Nora remained motionless, like a startled bird, as every subtle reaction of her body was caught in the man’s eyes.
After a long silence, Jasper Sinclair squeezed out a few words through his teeth: "A year and a half of marriage, and you’re not tired of looking yet?"
Blushing, Nora averted her gaze in a huff and said, "I’m going to take a shower."
Holding her pure white silk pajamas, as she walked to the shower door, she heard a voice from behind again: "Nora, you don’t need to be nervous, I’m not going to eat you."
Nora always felt that the word "eat" was emphasized a little too much.
Not saying it would be better, but saying it made her even more nervous.
She was at a loss for words, so she hurried into the shower to put space between them.
The person in the bedroom chuckled softly, making it clear that this night would be a restless one.
While bathing, Nora deliberately adjusted the water temperature a few degrees lower, maintaining it at a neither too cold nor too hot state, trying to hold onto her scarce calmness.
When she emerged again, Jasper Sinclair was already lying on the bed, his upper body naked.
"Can’t you put on some clothes? How shameless!" Nora chided playfully, sounding a bit spoiled.
"Shameless? I haven’t signed the divorce agreement, you’re still legally my wife."
"Our divorce is an undeniable fact, why drag it out?"
Her indifferent resignation made Jasper Sinclair lose interest in sharing the bed tonight.
Then, he rolled over, leaving her only his back.
The curve at the corner of Nora’s mouth dropped, and with each step closer to the soft bed, the sense of oppression in her heart grew stronger.
Finally, she paused at the edge of the bed, caught in a dilemma.
Through the glass reflection, Jasper Sinclair observed her expression, and seeing she made no new move, he couldn’t bear it any longer.
"Get on the bed, I won’t do anything to you."
Receiving assurance, Nora relaxed a little, and immediately, her wrist was enveloped by Jasper Sinclair’s warm palm, his fingers firm and strong as he pulled her onto the bed.
Nora’s body went rigid, not daring to make any unnecessary movements.
"Click—"
Jasper Sinclair turned off the bedside lamp, plunging the room into darkness. In the moonlight, they could sense each other’s presence.
At night, people’s senses were infinitely magnified.
Nora could feel the pulsing heartbeats and the increasingly heavy breathing of the person beside her.
In such tension, she grew more exhausted, gradually, the drumming heartbeat turned into a light and even breath, and she fell into a deep sleep.
To be honest, she hadn’t had a full night’s restful sleep in a long time, either working overtime or being haunted by nightmares.
The divorce, finding her biological mother, VK going public, how to deal with rumors... they all wrapped around Nora’s mind day and night, leaving her breathless in real life, unable to relax even in her sleep.
Jasper Sinclair saw how quickly she fell asleep, subtly moved closer to her, and adjusted the quilt over her.
In her deep sleep, Nora felt a strong arm resting on her, but she was simply too sleepy to care.
