Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk

Chapter 542: Unexpected Harmony

Chapter 542: Unexpected Harmony

Jasper Sinclair gently stroked Nora Northwood’s hair, like soothing a child, feeling her steady breathing, and lightly kissed her lips.

The thin layer of ice melted, yet she remained lost in her dreams.

When Nora opened her eyes again, she had no idea what time it was. The bedroom was almost completely dark, with the morning sun blocked by tightly shut curtains outside the window.

The person who had been beside her was long gone.

She propped herself up on her elbows, sitting up straight, and fumbled for her phone on the bedside table.

It was half-past ten!

This time, Nora was suddenly startled.

Fearing she might be accused of being impolite, she hurriedly got out of bed, picked out a perfectly fitting outfit in the dressing room, silently blaming her biological clock for being late today!

When she went to the living room, she found everyone was gone, leaving only Jasper Sinclair there.

Nora’s almond-shaped eyes widened for a few seconds, her toes spinning in place, unsure of what to do next.

Technically, she just needed to greet Grandma Sinclair and could use work as an excuse to slip away.

"Did you sleep well last night?" Jasper Sinclair put down the financial magazine in his hand and was the first to speak.

Nora huffed, "Uh-huh," through her nose, of course she slept well! Otherwise, how could she have slept until the sun was high up in the sky!

"Grandma and Auntie are in the garden. Do you want to go say hello?"

Nora kept silent. Since the old lady was so leisurely busy, she decided not to disturb.

The chaotic thoughts in her head gradually sorted themselves out, and she said, "I won’t go over. I’ve done everything I promised Grandma. If there are no other changes, I’ll head back to the office first."

"Wait a minute."

Jasper Sinclair’s body reacted faster than his mind, blocking her path.

Looking at the broad shoulders and narrow waist suddenly in front of her, Nora couldn’t help but recall last night’s scene. Quickly, she shook her head, "Wait for what?"

"I just remembered, Grandma mentioned something she wanted to discuss with you. I’ll take you to her now."

This excuse was too clumsy, so much so that it was immediately seen through.

Without much hesitation, Nora grabbed her bag from the sofa, "She can tell me over the phone, but I have work to handle now and can’t stay long."

"Then I’ll take you; it’s not convenient to hail a cab from here."

"Please arrange for the driver to take me."

Jasper Sinclair suppressed a sigh in his chest and said, "Fine."

Indeed, it was the driver who took Nora back to the city center, but he also got into the car, justifying it with, "I have to go to work too. As the chairman, I can’t skip work without reason."

Nora didn’t buy his nonsense but didn’t argue either. At least she managed to escape from The Sinclair Residence.

Throughout the journey, she remained expressionless, fiddling with her phone, typing away.

"Grrr—"

An untimely sound echoed inside the car, unusually abrupt, so much so that even the driver in the front couldn’t resist glancing back through the rear-view mirror.

Nora bit her lower lip, wishing she could disappear into the ground. Damn her stomach for not growling early or late, but right at this moment!

Her face flushed red, a stark contrast to her defiant demeanor just a moment ago.

Jasper Sinclair said to the driver, "Turn left at the next intersection; there’s a Cantonese restaurant."

"Mr. Sinclair, that’s not necessary..."

"I don’t want rumors to spread later saying the Sinclair Family’s too stingy to feed their daughter-in-law."

In the end, the extended Lincoln still stopped right at the entrance of the Cantonese Palace.

Someone recognized Jasper Sinclair’s car and hurriedly went to notify the manager. During the brief parking moment, the manager had already rushed out, with a tie neatly knotted around his neck.
