Chapter 516: A Middle-Aged Man’s Good Deed

Chapter 516: A Middle-Aged Man’s Good Deed

The person delivering the bag was a middle-aged man, dressed appropriately. Based on his appearance, I roughly estimated he was thirty-five, perhaps a bit older.

Lily was extremely grateful to him and insisted on getting his contact information, claiming she would definitely treat him to a meal someday.

Afterwards, she glanced at the time; it had been less than ten minutes since Finnian Lawrence left. If she hurried now, she might still catch up with him.

That’s what she thought, and that’s what she did.

The ground was dusty, and Lily noticed more and more water stains appearing on the shiny marble floor. Worried about slipping and making a fool of herself, she had to slow her pace.

She thought the rollercoaster of a day was about to end, until she encountered the torrential rain outside.

The thunder accompanied the sound of the rain, as if it wouldn’t stop until it swallowed everyone. Trapped along with her at the airport were hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people.

Just recovering from the shock of losing the documents, now facing the downpour, Lily felt terribly unlucky.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind.

Trapped here, Finnian Lawrence surely couldn’t leave either!

She rubbed her fingertips and began weaving through the crowd. Finally, she saw the person she was looking for at the entrance of a 24-hour convenience store.

As she got close, Lily slowed her steps, "Mr. Lawrence."

"Your bag has been found."

Finnian’s gaze fell beside her, but his tone was flat, without revealing much emotion.

"Did I cause you trouble today?" She felt guilty, not even daring to mention the signing.

The person opposite her looked down quietly, his demeanor calm and speech reserved, as if he were considering something.

Could such lively and quick-witted people say things like this?

This time, Finnian didn’t give a conventional response but instead asked back: "You indeed caused some trouble. How does Manager Sloan plan to resolve it?"

"I’m sorry."

Lily’s apology came incredibly fast, as if it had lingered at the corners of her lips for a long time, now finally finding a chance to escape.

In an instant, Finnian lost the mood to tease her, becoming uninterested.

"Give me the proposal."

She, as if pardoned, hurriedly rummaged through her bag to pull out a few pages of paper, the edges creased from being squeezed on the subway, hardly resembling a million-dollar deal.

Finnian quickly signed his name and handed it back to her.

In the exchange, he noticed a mole on Lily’s collarbone, a light brown, like ink accidentally splattered.

Lily looked down, scrutinizing the documents carefully. After repeatedly confirming their accuracy, she took photos and cautiously put them back in the bag.

Everything settled.

The minute hand of the clock moved imperceptibly, pausing just at the "eleven" mark.

In another hour, a new day would begin.

The noise around them grew, with people complaining about the thunderstorm and others lamenting the flight delays... All with their own reasons.

Lily thought the work-related issue resolved, Finnian would no longer have any interest in her.

To her surprise, he took the initiative to ask, "How will you get back to the city?"

"By taxi."

Hearing her answer, Finnian chuckled, and even the assistant listening quietly beside them couldn’t help but smile, though it wasn’t a kind gesture.

The assistant reminded, "Everyone is queuing for taxis, and the line is already over a hundred people long."

Lily pouted; she wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she felt the assistant’s tone seemed a bit mocking.
