Chapter 466: Overnight by the Sea
Chapter 466: Overnight by the Sea
Inside the hotel room.
Nora Northwood looked wary, as if saying, "Stay away from me."
Jasper Sinclair noticed her cautious demeanor, a light smile playing on his lips, "Do you need the front desk to send you a pepper spray for protection?"
"I wouldn’t say no."
Jasper didn’t respond, instead plopping down on the sofa, which immediately sank under his weight.
He leisurely rolled up his sleeves, revealing a small section of his pale wrist.
"You go take a shower, I have a conference call."
Nora was curious, who holds meetings in the dead of night? Until she heard perfect American English, and silently berated herself for not being more open-minded.
She exhaled lightly and turned to the bedroom.
After washing up, Nora crawled under the covers first, feeling it seemed a bit like playing hard to get, then leaned on the window for a while.
The rain outside gradually lessened, yet the sea remained tumultuous.
She waited a long time, until drowsiness hit, but still Jasper was nowhere in sight.
After hesitating for a few seconds, she peeked outside the bedroom and heard he was still on the call.
Jasper’s American accent was flawless, and after eavesdropping for a bit, Nora decided to sleep.
Before getting into bed, she found a thin white blanket and created a barrier between them.
Perhaps she was too tired today, she fell asleep soon after lying down.
When Jasper returned, it was already one in the morning.
He looked at the boundary line, his expression softening, no longer the stern look he had during the meeting.
The next day.
Nora opened her eyes to find herself resting on Jasper Sinclair’s arm.
Momentarily forgetting their "failed divorce" situation, she snuggled closer to him.
A few minutes later, she suddenly sprang up from the bed.
"Jasper Sinclair, you’re taking advantage of me!"
Jasper watched her with a smile, his eyes clear and knowing, not at all like someone who had just woken up.
"You’re the one who moved closer."
Nora was exasperated, cheeks puffed up like balloons, and she turned to run.
Jasper didn’t give her a chance to escape, grabbing her by the waist from behind.
A strong and intense masculine scent enveloped Nora, her heart pounding, and a certain emotion was about to burst forth.
Warm air whispered behind her ear, an electrifying tingle spreading.
Nora dodged, her voice softening unconsciously, "Don’t do this."
"Do what?" Jasper’s voice teased, with a rising intonation and a playful "Hmm?"
His tongue brushed her earlobe, a moist stickiness that sent shivers down Nora’s spine.
In the heat of the moment, a sudden phone ring interrupted their actions, snapping Nora back to reality.
She quickly adjusted her shirt that had been pulled down, realizing it was Grandma Sinclair calling.
Jasper punched the mattress, as if hitting cotton with frustration.
Trust his dear grandma to call at such a crucial moment.
He answered, dutifully greeting her, "Grandma, why are you calling so early?"
"You brat! Do I need to check the time before calling you!"
The old lady’s strong voice was audible even from a meter away, and Nora could hear the anger on the other end.
"Grandma, that’s not what I meant."
"Just reminding you and Nora to come to the old house tonight, dinner is a family affair, don’t be absent."
Grandma Sinclair’s implication: the second family branch would be there.
"Understood."
