Chapter 465: Stanton City’s Night
Chapter 465: Stanton City’s Night
The two of them left one after the other, Jasper Sinclair gesturing for the driver to stay behind.
It was almost midnight, and the streets of Stanton City had become sparse with traffic. Heading towards the Southmoor District highway, only a few cars passed by, all in a hurry to get somewhere.
With his hands gripping the steering wheel, Jasper Sinclair’s speed dropped again and again.
His leisurely posture caught the attention of several drivers, who then felt inadequate compared to the man’s noble aura.
"Want to listen to some music?" he asked.
Nora Northwood, unexpectedly for her usual style, responded, "I want to listen to Phoenix Legend, and I want the DJ version."
It was not music typical of her generation, but Jasper accommodated her wishes.
His slender fingers slid across the car’s screen, quickly finding the version she desired.
Before long, the melody flowed from the speakers, and Nora leaned forward, raising the volume by a few notches.
"Nora, your tastes change pretty quickly."
"I’ll swap you out someday," Nora quipped without thinking, only realizing how it sounded afterward.
Outside the car, the roadside trees sped up in retreat.
At the meeting of the sea and sky, dark clouds gathered, and Jasper’s expression wasn’t pleasant.
A soft, girlish voice sounded again, "Looks like it’s going to rain, why don’t we head back?"
"Before you swap me out, maybe I’ll sell you to a remote valley first."
"Jasper Sinclair!"
The man whose name was called curled his lips, enjoying Nora’s response, even though she was just making conversation.
The crescent moon converged with the dark clouds, and the likelihood of rain grew more apparent as she repeated, "It’s raining, aren’t we going back?"
By now, the car had entered the Southmoor District.
Jasper paused the music in his ear and said to her, "We’re almost there."
"What?"
Nora was puzzled; wasn’t it just a drive around?
Soon, the boundless coastline came into view, the cloud-covered seaside offering a different kind of scenery.
Just before the raindrops began to fall, Jasper parked the car in front of a seaside hotel.
A valet approached respectfully, calling out, "Mr. Sinclair, I’ll park your car."
Jasper tossed out the car keys.
Then, he took Nora’s hand and ran toward the hotel lobby.
Just as they stepped inside, the rain poured down in torrents.
Nora patted her chest, "That was close!"
She was busy catching her breath, while the man beside her remained calm and unruffled. The quiet night, turned topsy-turvy by the storm.
She looked up, finding Jasper seriously admiring the scenery outside the glass window.
Nora’s gaze was once again drawn to his handsome face, a face that, no matter when, always stirred her emotions.
"Do you like watching?" Jasper suddenly spoke.
Surprised at being caught, she turned her head like a guilty schoolgirl.
She avoided the subject, saying, "The seaside rainstorm is quite something; I just wonder if the guy parking your car will end up soaked like a drowned rat."
"No, the parking lot is underground."
"Turns out capitalists do have moments when they consider others."
The two lingered at the revolving door for a few minutes before finally heading inside.
Jasper had, in advance, booked a two-story loft according to Nora’s preferences, facing the sea with an excellent view.
The hotel’s lobby manager personally served them, leading them all the way to the fifth floor.
This hotel, with a maximum of five floors, can only accommodate ten guests each day, making it extremely hard to book a room for a night.
