Chapter 458: Trouble at the Door
Chapter 458: Trouble at the Door
Nora Northwood closed her eyes, a single tear trailing down her cheek, as she said, "If there’s nothing more to say, don’t force it."
Jasper Sinclair couldn’t bear to make things difficult for her. After all, there were other ways, so he let go of her hand.
The next second, Nora pressed down on the door handle.
She dragged her suitcase, her steps brisk and determined, with no intention of stopping.
Through all this, she had long ceased to be a little girl easily manipulated by others.
Jasper stood on the stone steps, watching her silhouette grow smaller and smaller until it became a mere dark speck.
At the corner, she completely vanished from his sight.
He said to Uncle Kevin, "Have the driver take her."
Just as Nora stepped out of the main entrance, a Bentley pulled up behind her, the driver sticking his head out of the window, "Ma’am, I’ll take you."
"No need to trouble yourself."
Since she had severed ties with Jasper Sinclair, she naturally couldn’t accept his goodwill anymore.
"Mr. Sinclair’s orders, please be kind enough not to leave me in a difficult position."
Nora couldn’t bear to hear soft words; the Sinclair Family was always courteous, and she didn’t want the driver to be embroiled in her matters.
No longer stubborn, she got into the car.
The morning passed in a blur of moving activities, with the basic layout of her new home more or less completed.
VK.
Nora had just sat down, the seat still cool, when she received an internal call.
Yvonne Winslow said, "Someone is causing trouble downstairs."
Misfortunes never come alone; issues of the heart unresolved, the work situation was also in chaos.
"Keep an eye on it, I’ll be down in five minutes."
Nora brushed her hair back, changed her lipstick to a bold red, her gaze sharp, her face exuding a defiant chill.
As she went out, she called over a new girl at the company, a flick of her finger, "Turn on the recording function and capture everything when the trouble begins."
Downstairs was monitored by the security and Yvonne Winslow.
Nora trusted Yvonne’s style of handling things, telling others, "Our brand is aimed at the public; no matter how they cause trouble later, we must not initiate conflict."
She knew Annie had an uncontrollable temper, so she left her at the company to reassure the staff.
VK front entrance.
A young couple was shouting and swearing, drawing a considerable crowd of onlookers.
"Damn aroma selling for hundreds, who knows what it’s laced with, after smelling it my wife had a miscarriage, get your boss out here to pay up!" the man was fierce, spewing filthy words nonstop.
Nora gathered the gist of the situation from his words, stepping forward proactively, "I’m the owner of this store."
"So it’s you, a heartless merchant, with no moral bottom line all for money, leaving the Lane Family without offspring!"
The man initially demanded compensation, later escalating the seriousness to a moral level, continuously defaming VK’s brand ideals.
In the crowd, chaos prevailed.
...
Jasper Sinclair was about to attend a meeting, passing by VK, he noticed the bustling commotion.
He assumed Nora had instructed her staff to organize an event, taking a closer look.
Closer inspection revealed people quarreling loudly, taking pictures and videos, and gesturing towards Nora in the middle.
Unable to sit back, Jasper called out to the driver, "Park by the side." He quickly made his way over, just as Nora was pushed and stumbled.
"Lily!"
Lily Sloan couldn’t stand it anymore, disregarding Nora’s instructions, she went forward boldly.
"Who do you think you are, pushing my Nora!"
