Chapter 455: Think Before You Speak
Chapter 455: Think Before You Speak
In just a short while, Nora Northwood had already tidied up her clothes, ready to leave.
With one foot already stepping out the door, Jasper Sinclair’s voice sounded behind her: "The Sinclair Family has never known the concept of divorce."
Then just consider yourself a widower... The words reached her lips, but Nora swallowed them back down.
She quietly cursed herself, how could she curse herself like that!
Switching her tone, she asked, "Mr. Sinclair, have you ever seriously thought about what exactly you like about me?"
She kept calling him Mr. Sinclair, which sounded awkward to the ear, not as pleasantly as "Jasper."
The person being questioned lowered his head, seemingly pondering the answer.
However, before Jasper Sinclair could respond, Nora spoke up with the answer: "I’m young, ignorant, someone outside your social circle, you have a sense of novelty and curiosity with me, willing to play a game of house with me."
Jasper frowned, there was some truth to her words, but it wasn’t the whole story.
He wanted to interrupt, but Nora didn’t give him the chance: "These traits of mine are all reflected in Peach Bell. If she had appeared before you first, would everything have been different?"
The direction of the conversation was becoming increasingly off, as if something flashed across Jasper’s mind, but he couldn’t grasp it.
His silence was taken by Nora as acquiescence.
Her almond-shaped eyes gradually reddened, a strong sense of loss engulfed her.
She began to regret.
If she hadn’t entered Jasper Sinclair’s study that day, she wouldn’t have seen the handwritten letter left by Mr. Sinclair, nor would she have known that she took Peach Bell’s place.
A year and a half of marriage felt like a joke played on her by fate.
The foot that never crossed the threshold finally stepped out at that moment.
"Bang—"
The door closed, separating them into two different worlds.
The phone, casually thrown at the foot of the bed, buzzed incessantly, it was Louis Hayes urging her.
Jasper Sinclair pressed the call button off, suffering from a rending pain in his chest that was hard to bear.
He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down, and then put the phone back in his pocket, leaving the DP.
...
As Nora Northwood said, realizing her unsettled life, she quickly bought a property located in the villa district, a standalone house.
It’s about a ten-minute walk from VK, very suitable for a workaholic like her.
According to the agent, a former celebrity used to live here, but seemingly moved to a real mansion after earning more money, no longer interested in this place.
After leaving DP, Nora Northwood didn’t rush to work but went to the little building.
The community’s privacy was excellently maintained, and the building she chose was comparatively small, just two floors, and in the classic American vintage style.
This was her second time here, and she was utterly satisfied every time she looked at it.
The only thing lacking was the absence of a lived-in feel; her daily essentials were still at Jasper Sinclair’s villa, and even the most basic toiletries were absent here.
Nora fretted over whether to buy new things or return to the villa to fetch them.
This question troubled her all morning, and even after showering, she hadn’t decided.
The scent of alcohol finally dissipated, which had given her a headache.
Nora pondered: From now on, never go out drinking again, it’s embarrassing to drink too much!
She changed into a cream-colored long dress, the area around her neck felt empty, so she added a Jade Pendant for adornment, making her appear gentle and elegant.
Then, she opened her WeChat contact list and sent a message to Yvonne Winslow: "Are you awake?"
