Chapter 454: Her Loss of Composure

Chapter 454: Her Loss of Composure

"Nora, don’t cry."

Facing Nora Northwood, Jasper Sinclair was always worn out by her tantrums.

The crying girl in his arms grew more frantic, and he couldn’t stop her. Jasper was clueless about how to console her, so he gently patted her back.

This pat unexpectedly lulled her to sleep.

Jasper was taken aback, listening to her nervous breathing. His eyes narrowed slightly.

Then, he leaned back, quietly admiring her sleeping face.

A few minutes passed, and Jasper thought of the other girls at the bar.

He dialed Rhys Linden’s number: "Arrange everything for Nora’s friends."

The other side assured him it wouldn’t be a problem.

...

It was the next day when Nora sobered up. The spacious suite was tightly sealed from light, with thick blackout curtains draped over the glass windows.

She smelled the scent of deep wood, a special fragrance commonly used in her home.

Squinting her eyes, she reached out with both hands but couldn’t find the familiar lamp switch.

Startled, Nora hurriedly sat up. She had blacked out yesterday, and her mind was now a mess.

"Awake?"

In the darkness, Jasper’s voice calmed her panicked heart. She quickly asked, "Where is this place?"

"Close your eyes first."

Nora obediently complied, feeling an instinctive obedience to this man.

In just a moment, the room lit up.

"You drank too much yesterday." Jasper, dressed in business attire with shiny leather shoes, approached the bedside step by step.

His fingers slightly bent, touching her forehead to check the temperature before straightening up again. "The driver sent you to rest. Today is the end of the month, and I have a monthly meeting at the company which I can’t miss."

Nora lowered her head in frustration, wondering why she had drunk so much.

She remained silent for quite a while, and the person beside the bed spoke with a raised tone, "What are you thinking?"

"Jasper Sinclair, if I remember correctly, the divorce agreement is already on your desk," she stubbornly said, with a hint of pink at the tip of her nose.

The man being addressed by his full name found it amusing, yet maintained a serious demeanor, replying, "Shouldn’t it be on your desk?"

An untimely ringtone sounded from Louis Hayes: "Boss, there’s half an hour until the meeting."

"No time, inform the board to postpone it to the afternoon."

The person on the other end was troubled, thinking that such a casual postponement might wreak havoc among the board’s old relics.

Nora called out over the distance, "Special Assistant Hayes, don’t cancel, he has time to go."

Jasper, deciding to take decisive action, ended the call abruptly, tossing the phone to the foot of the bed with his long fingers.

"I see you’re getting bolder, daring to put anything in my office."

As he spoke, he cupped the back of Nora’s head with one hand.

Just before their skin touched, Nora turned her head, his cool lips grazing her cheek.

Her breathing uneven, she held on and said, "I’m not joking with you. I’ve purchased a property near VK and, starting today, I’m moving out of the villa. The divorce agreement will be resent to your company by the law firm; remember to sign it."

As her words fell, Jasper’s actions came to a halt.

The morning light streamed through the windows, casting long black shadows of the two intertwining under the warm sun.

Taking advantage of Jasper’s momentary daze, Nora slipped away from his chest, "Mr. Sinclair, take care."

After quite some time, Jasper dialed Louis Hayes’ number again: "Proceed with the meeting as scheduled."
