Chapter 434: Congenital Heart Disease
Chapter 434: Congenital Heart Disease
"All is well, just thinking of you and the Young Madam."
The butler hesitated to speak, but Jasper Sinclair understood instantly and didn’t ask further.
May was already half over, and the trees in the yard were lush, making it the best time of year.
Grandma Sinclair was reading on the courtyard swing, with Peach Bell tinkering with potted plants beside her, creating a harmonious scene.
"Grandma," Jasper Sinclair called out, capturing the elderly woman’s attention.
Seeing people return, the old woman’s smile couldn’t be contained, "Jasper, Nora, you’re back! Come over, let Grandma see if you’ve lost weight."
Grandma Sinclair took off her reading glasses and approached Nora Northwood.
"Grandma, I haven’t lost weight. Look, my face has gotten rounder!" Nora affectionately linked arms with Grandma Sinclair, resembling a biological granddaughter.
Peach Bell, not far away, hurriedly came running to Jasper Sinclair, before she had a chance to put down her scissors.
"Sinclair, you promised me you’d come back every month to play with me, but it’s been two months since you last did!" Peach Bell still looked childlike, her round eyes sparkling with untainted innocence.
Jasper Sinclair silently put his hand to his forehead, "Put the scissors away first."
He opened the box Peach Bell brought back, revealing a letter from Mr. Sinclair along with a detailed account statement.
In the letter, Mr. Sinclair mentioned Peach Bell’s background.
She had been abandoned by her biological parents when she was just a baby. At that time, Mrs. Sinclair was yearning for a child and couldn’t bear seeing her left alone at the hospital, so she went through the adoption process and brought her home.
The little girl only knew that her biological parents were far away, but didn’t understand much else.
When Peach Bell just turned three, their place was raided. Afterward, Mr. Sinclair investigated, and the opposition targeted Peach Bell.
Fortunately, that day the butler took her to visit the kindergarten, avoiding the calamity.
Mr. Sinclair vaguely sensed her background was unusual and moved their residence to a small villa in the suburbs for better protection.
Until she was ten, Peach Bell almost never left the premises; hence, she truly was oblivious to worldly matters.
Later, an unexpected incident occurred at The Sinclair Group’s branch project.
Mr. Sinclair found discrepancies in the public account, while Mrs. Sinclair’s health deteriorated day by day.
Peach Bell didn’t understand any of it, she just spent her days and nights staying by Mrs. Sinclair’s side, cheering up her surrogate mother.
It was precisely because of this that Mrs. Sinclair lingered in the world for a few more days.
Mr. Sinclair seemed to anticipate the direction things were headed and promptly arranged for the butler to leave with Peach Bell, purchasing a private castle with cash flow.
Until Peach Bell was eighteen, she had only stepped outside the castle once.
That time she snuck out but was severely reprimanded by the butler, who afterward tearfully said many words that she couldn’t comprehend.
Since then, Peach Bell never left the castle again.
Until a few months ago, the butler brought out a slightly dusty wooden box and pointed her in a direction.
She appeared at the wedding scene, uttering some nonsensical words.
There was no intention behind it.
Mr. Sinclair instructed Jasper Sinclair that if he met Peach Bell while still single, she would be his bride.
If already married, he should treat her as a younger sister.
Jasper Sinclair chose the latter.
Two months ago, Peach Bell fainted without reason and was sent to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with congenital heart disease. Fortunately, it was discovered in time, not reaching an irreversible stage.
Peach Bell couldn’t grasp the severity of her condition; she treated her stay at the hospital like playing house with Grandma Sinclair. After two days, she returned to the old mansion.
