Chapter 433: Visiting Grandma Sinclair
Chapter 433: Visiting Grandma Sinclair
The day after VK confirmed the new strategy, Jasper Sinclair ended his trip in Paris.
He hurried back to Stanton City, and as soon as the cabin door alert was lifted, he eagerly contacted Nora Northwood.
The phone rang for half a minute, but no one answered.
The man’s thumb gently rubbed the side of his phone, and just as he was about to lose patience, the call was picked up on the other end.
"Jasper, you’re back."
Hearing Nora’s soft voice, he felt much of his travel fatigue dissipate.
"The plane just landed. I’ll pick you up from VK tonight, and we’ll visit Grandma at the old residence."
Indeed, it had been a while since they last visited the family home.
Nora agreed, "I can leave work an hour early today. Come pick me up at five."
After some small talk, Jasper asked a few questions about VK over the phone, "Will VK continue to expand its reach next?"
With this question, Nora sensed something unusual.
It turns out, he had his considerations... After a brief pause, she adopted a formal tone and began to say systematically, "VK’s breakout success came from our aromatherapy line. My previous thoughts and decisions were overly hasty; I didn’t take it step by step..."
Jasper listened earnestly to this not particularly "formal" work report. After it ended, he was already off the jet bridge.
That afternoon, the two of them busied themselves with their own tasks.
Until five o’clock, when Nora’s phone vibrated. It was a call from Jasper.
"I’m downstairs; let’s go."
The driver had changed from Louis Hayes to a dedicated chauffeur.
Nora walked briskly, and as she left, Lily Sloan teased her, "Going on a date with your Mr. Sinclair!"
"Whenever you find a boyfriend, I’ll approve an hour’s early leave for you."
"The road of love is closed for me forever. You go on, don’t keep Mr. Sinclair waiting."
Then, Nora entered the elevator. As the red floor numbers slowly decreased, she tidied her bangs in front of her phone screen.
"Ding—"
Jasper, dressed in a dark suit, was leaning against the side of the car, his expression as usual. Only those slightly upturned eyes carried a bit more tenderness.
Their eyes met, and Nora approached with small steps, no longer the strong-woman image others saw her as.
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
"Not long at all, let’s get in the car first; traffic’s smooth now, so we can return earlier." Jasper said this while opening the car door for her.
In the car, Nora asked the question that had been weighing on her mind all afternoon.
"Did you foresee that VK would focus on aromatherapy?" Although it sounded like a question, coming from her lips, it felt more like a statement.
Jasper gave a composed smile, "Business intuition."
Inexplicably, a sense of frustration arose within Nora.
From the time VK was formally established till now, she’d toiled for countless days and nights, yet an outsider could see more clearly.
Jasper sensed her change and promptly comforted, "You’re doing better than many. It just takes time to gain the experience, and perhaps in ten years, you’ll be able to pinpoint issues with precision."
"Thank you for the compliment, Chairman Sinclair. I’ll keep working hard."
The atmosphere relaxed again as the car traveled from south to north.
At the main entrance, the automated system recognized the license plate from two meters away, and the gate silently swung open.
The butler came forward, "Young master, young madam, Grandma is waiting in the garden."
Jasper nodded and casually asked, "How has Grandma’s health been lately?"
