Chapter 387: Ten-Ingredient Tonic Soup

Chapter 387: Ten-Ingredient Tonic Soup

"Lotus Seed Bird’s Nest Porridge."

This was the second time Jasper Sinclair had woken up Nora Northwood since he returned to the country.

Nagging to the point where a gentle-tempered person exploded with anger, "Not only did you disturb me until the middle of the night, now you’re not letting me sleep, get out, I don’t want to see you!"

Jasper knew his actions were indeed somewhat excessive, and after being yelled at a few times, he quietly stopped speaking.

The eerie silence maintained in the bedroom made one restless.

Nora irritably lifted the quilt, revealing her face, and said with a sulking tone, "Why aren’t you leaving? Didn’t you say I could kick you out!"

Hearing her tone, Jasper knew she had calmed down by now.

"Girls always like to say the opposite, so you can’t fully believe them." With that, he placed the bowl on the bedside table and sat at the edge of the bed.

"A man in his thirties, still such a smooth talker."

"Eat something before you sleep; you’ve only just recovered from your illness and need to replenish your nutrition."

"Eat in bed?"

Jasper had a known obsession with cleanliness, which everyone who had contact with him knew about.

How could someone with a cleanliness obsession allow others to eat in his bed?

And yet, Nora was an exception.

"You don’t like moving, so just stay here. Uncle Kevin had this prepared early in the morning; it’s also said to be good for your skin."

Nora took the bowl and stirred it with the silver spoon a couple of times, the white, round lotus seeds whetting her appetite. She drank it spoon by spoon.

The large bowl was quickly emptied; she was indeed hungry.

"Would you like to eat something else?"

"No, I want to sleep."

Nora’s mind was filled with just one thought: to make up for the sleep she had missed over the past month.

"I’ll sleep with you."

Nora didn’t respond verbally, silently refusing.

Her cautious expression made Jasper chuckle softly, "I promise I won’t do anything, just purely sleep."

"Don’t you need to go to the company today? It’s been a long time since you last went."

"One more day won’t make a difference; I’m not omnipotent, I also need rest."

Upon hearing this, Nora scrutinized him and noticed the dark circles under his eyes.

Hmm... This man already has dark circles!

Then, feeling sorry for him, Nora made room on half of the bed and generously said, "I’ll reluctantly allow you to lie next to me."

"Thank you."

Jasper took the bowl downstairs and then returned to the bed.

The bedroom curtains were tightly drawn, leaving not even a sliver of light, enveloping the entire room in complete darkness.

"Sleep, darling." He kissed Nora’s forehead, closing his eyes first.

Nora rested in the crook of his arm, and soon, sleepiness overcame her once more.

Outside, Uncle Kevin had no idea what was happening inside, relying on his decades of life experience to prepare a pot of restorative Cistanche soup.

The cook teasingly remarked, "Ever since the young master stopped living in the manor, it’s rare to see Uncle Kevin in the kitchen himself."

Uncle Kevin smiled subtly, saying nothing.

Even after taking care of Jasper Sinclair for twenty years, he didn’t dare to casually joke about the young master.

He spent the entire morning in the kitchen, watching the milky white bubbles grow larger and then smaller again, continuously boiling in the pot.

This pot of soup was cooked for nearly ten hours before someone took the first sip.

"Young master, the dinner has been prepared according to your and the madam’s tastes, would you like to dine now?"
