Chapter 357: Rescue
Chapter 357: Rescue
In the midst of questioning, Louis Hayes had already opened the phone’s navigation, positioning it in the Southmoor District.
"Over twenty kilometers, about an hour’s drive."
"Let’s head there now."
The air exuded from the man was cold and forceful, allowing no room for objection.
The driver was a local of Melbourne, extremely familiar with every street in the city. He planned the quickest route to reach the Southmoor District.
Throughout the next hour’s journey, Louis Hayes’ phone didn’t stop ringing.
He sought help from the police, contacting a few special forces officers, and for safety, he hired a negotiation expert at a high price, a professional born for kidnapping cases.
Accompanying them were ten bodyguards, fluent in various languages.
The suburban terrain was complex, and the environment was much more chaotic than the city, not recorded in the surveillance system.
The only thing they were certain of was that Peach Bell was not in life-threatening danger.
The group split into two teams, scouring the abandoned warehouses one by one. The special forces team had already formed a perimeter, ready to rush in at the first sign of trouble.
Communication equipment had been connected, and the voice of the negotiation expert came through Louis Hayes’ earpiece.
"The location of the victim has been confirmed, no other kidnappers seen at the moment."
Peach Bell was in a comatose state, placed on a rickety wooden chair, looking completely exhausted, probably drugged with some kind of narcotic.
Well-trained bodyguards assessed the surrounding environment and confirmed no potential threats.
A group of men wearing bulletproof vests formed a V shape, slowly approaching the person in the center of the warehouse.
"Ms. Bell."
The leading captain softly called out to Peach Bell, but the response was boundless silence.
He placed his finger under Peach Bell’s nose, confirming she was still breathing, then hoisted her over his shoulder and carried her away from that dangerous place.
Outside perimeter.
Jasper Sinclair was surrounded by several bodyguards; although he made no move, his tightly furrowed brows exposed his anxious emotions.
Not long after, he saw Peach Bell being carried out by someone.
The ready special forces exchanged surprised glances; how had the rescue happened before it was their turn to act?
The bodyguard captain spoke first: "Judging from the dust patterns on the ground and the chaotic footprints, there were at least five kidnappers, but when we went in, only Ms. Bell was inside, and no murder weapon."
The situation was unexpected, entirely beyond reason.
Everyone awaited Jasper Sinclair’s next command. He said, "Send her to the hospital for a comprehensive medical examination."
After that, the two groups parted ways.
On the first day of arriving in Melbourne, such an incident occurred; it sounds like a less than auspicious start.
On the way back to the mansion, Jasper Sinclair asked Louis Hayes, "What do you think is their mindset?"
Even though they managed to kidnap her, they took no further action, and the final move seemed like intentionally releasing her.
Louis Hayes relayed his thoughts completely: "Two possibilities. The first is that our people startled them, and they chose to release her to avoid a bigger commotion."
It sounded reasonable, yet not entirely so.
"Explain the second possibility."
Louis Hayes swallowed, it seemed the boss was not pleased with his first explanation.
Then he continued, "The other side’s intention wasn’t to harm Peach Bell, just to use this incident as a warning, letting us know the road ahead may not be smooth."
