Chapter 325: Investigation Results
The ache in Nora Northwood’s waist persisted, but her skin gradually regained its warmth.
Jasper Sinclair lifted her horizontally in his arms.
Nora’s arm hung loosely over the man’s shoulder, unable to muster any strength. Her almond-shaped eyes, hazy with moisture, stared aimlessly, somewhat unfocused.
The two left the hotel, and the accompanying bodyguards quickly withdrew as well.
On the way back to Southwood Court, Nora leaned against Jasper, her pale fingers hooked onto his clothes, feeling timid and saying nothing.
As for what exactly happened tonight, Louis Hayes had already begun an investigation, and results were expected soon.
The bright moon illuminated the path ahead.
Dry tear marks traced Nora’s eyes, and the comfortable indoor temperature gradually brought her back to her senses.
"Jasper."
She murmured the man’s name softly, almost inaudible in Jasper Sinclair’s ear.
"Baby, I’m here," Jasper responded immediately.
"I heard from Jade Lockwood that the Lockwood Family is already in a crisis stage."
"The stock market is falling, several batches of goods are stuck in hand, unsellable, and there’s a gap in the funding chain, things aren’t looking optimistic."
He laid out what he knew, detail by detail.
Jasper Sinclair intended to pressure the Lockwood Family, and those aware of the inside story dared not collaborate.
"Since Jade Lockwood is still messing with me, it seems the crisis isn’t big enough."
"Nora, what do you mean?"
"Jasper, make the Lockwood Family a bit more humiliated."
"Alright, the Lockwood Group’s perfume division will see a stock market crash within three days." With just a word, the business tycoon can easily ruin an industry.
"Tell the Lockwood Family to control their daughter."
"Can you tell me specifically what happened now?"
Jasper Sinclair held Nora’s hand, gently rubbing it, his icy gaze like frozen shadows that never thawed.
Nora’s expression showed no change as she recounted the events of the dinner party, her voice still hoarse and strained.
After Jasper understood the entire situation, his dark eyes settled on her trembling shoulder, hugging her tenderly, "I’ll make those who hurt you pay the price."
His tone was slightly chilling, and his gaze appeared gloomy.
The Lockwood Family was in for a major mishap.
Nighttime.
While Nora was sleeping soundly, Jasper Sinclair quietly left the soft bed, tiptoeing towards the study.
He sat elegantly at his desk, retrieving a pair of black-framed glasses from the drawer, wearing them over his nose, exuding a restrained yet noble aura.
Then, he opened the computer.
His ten fingers flew rapidly across the keyboard, as swift as a hacker.
Soon, the stock price data of The Lockwood Group appeared at the top of the screen.
Jasper manipulated it for a while, and at the last moment, his index finger pressed heavily on the enter key.
It had been a long time since he’d acted personally.
Beneath the lenses, his eyes flashed with an imperceptible chill before slowly closing the laptop.
After finishing everything, he returned to the bedroom.
Nora was still fast asleep, her chest rising and falling in steady rhythm.
Moonlight filtered through layers of white gauze, falling upon her serene face, captivating one’s heart.
Jasper crept closer, tucked the corner of the blanket around her, and softly kissed her smooth forehead.
"Good night, Nora."
That night, Nora was plagued by nightmares.
She never truly slept soundly, trapped even in her dreams, ensnared in a pitch-black abyss.
Until the electronic alarm rang, ending her dread.
