Chapter 114 - 99: So Useless
Chapter 114 - 99: So Useless
An Jin knocked hesitantly on the door. "Mi Yin, are you in there?"
No response. ’Strange. Did he go out hunting? With his lazy personality, he doesn’t seem like the type to go out hunting in this heat.’
An Jin stood at the door for a long time, her mind racing. She wasn’t sure if she should call out again.
「After a long moment.」
She heard the scraping sound of a snake’s tail.
Then, a faint "mm" came from inside the room.
An Jin grew suspicious. "Why didn’t you answer just now?"
"I was sleeping. I didn’t hear you."
She could tell he was in a bad mood, and his reply was dismissive. She nodded, a little upset herself. "Alright, then. I won’t disturb you. Get some rest..."
Outside, the light footsteps of the female faded into the distance.
In the pitch-black room, the python coiled in the corner lifted its head. Its crimson serpentine eyes glinted. When it realized the female was walking away, a powerful surge of panic washed over it.
It suddenly arched the upper half of its body and slithered rapidly toward the door, wanting to drag the female back. But in the instant its head was about to touch the door...
...it recoiled as if shocked.
"HISS~"
’He wanted Jin’er to realize he was unhappy. He hadn’t even gone out to eat for two days. But her attention was still focused on that Wolf Beast.’
’It’s just as I thought. No one cares about a Wandering Beast.’
’She probably only accepted me because of the mate mark. I’m not that important to her at all, am I...?’
At this thought, Mi Yin grew even more dejected. The massive, ten-meter-long, black-and-red python slowly coiled itself up again, layer by layer, until it was a tight disk in the corner, motionless.
However, to his surprise, the female’s footsteps returned not long after, accompanied by the rich aroma of food.
The wooden door was knocked again, followed by the female’s gentle, concerned voice. "It’s evening now. I noticed you haven’t eaten anything all day, so I made you some chicken soup. Would you like some?"
The python buried its head deeper into its coils, its body tightening as it mumbled sullenly, "You don’t have to worry about me. I’m not hungry."
An Jin was speechless.
’He’s acting just like a pouting child.’
She rubbed the bridge of her nose, realizing this snake was genuinely sulking with her. She never thought the ruthless and cold Mi Yin could be so childish when he was angry.
’I have no experience placating anyone.’
She placed the steaming chicken soup by the door and waited for a long time, but he still didn’t open it. An Jin’s patience was wearing thin, but she maintained a gentle tone. "Don’t be angry anymore. Just eat first. I’ll agree to whatever you want as compensation, okay?"
"..."
Only after the footsteps outside had faded away again did the wooden door CREAK open just a crack.
The tip of a snake’s tail snaked out, wrapped tightly around the pot of chicken soup, and dragged it inside. Then, the tail quickly pulled the door shut...
’I can’t let the soup Jin’er made with her own hands go to waste.’
When An Jin returned with a plate of roasted meat, she saw from a distance that the large bowl of chicken soup by the door was already gone.
’He really is like a little cub. He caved so quickly.’
She couldn’t help the smile that crept onto her lips. She crouched down to place the roasted meat by the door, but before she could knock, the door CLICKED open.
A dark figure flashed before her eyes, and she was pulled by strong arms into a cool, firm embrace. The wooden door SLAMMED shut, plunging her into darkness.
Mi Yin bent down, his thin lips brushing against her ear as he murmured, his long fingers trailing down from her waist. "You said you’d compensate me."
"..."
An Jin looked up, speechless. It was too dark; she could only make out the man’s hazy silhouette. His deep, scorching red eyes were fixed on her, threatening to drown her in their beautiful depths.
"Can’t you show a little restraint?" It wasn’t that An Jin didn’t want to be with him, but the mere thought of a Snake Beast’s stamina made her legs go weak.
’He’s going to wring me dry one of these days.’
"You’re my mate. Of course I’m going to come to you," Mi Yin said, his voice laced with longing and a hint of grievance.
The sensation had given him a taste for it; after the first time, he immediately wanted a second.
Besides, it wasn’t that he was that desperate—he just hadn’t been with her in a long time. An Jin’s attention was completely focused on the tribe, and she spent precious little time with him.
For Mi Yin, the comfortable life in the tribe was just too boring.
He was usually lonely and bored. Other than sleeping, his only source of excitement was pestering her.
An Jin couldn’t resist Mi Yin’s passionate advances and finally gave in. He pressed her against the wall, their bodies moving to every corner of the room.
He usually preferred to be quiet, always restrained and gentle out of consideration for her feelings. This time, however, he completely let go. He was exceptionally fierce, as if venting a hint of his jealousy.
