Chapter 129 - 108: Third Elder
Chapter 129 - 108: Third Elder
You Su, unclear of the reason, compared back and forth several times and found that the two types of text were indeed different.
The text in the evil book was somewhat simpler, while these two books were more complex and ancient.
But regardless, both were distinct from the "Chinese characters" in his hazy memories of his past life. By right, he should not have been able to read the books of this world since he was blind from birth and had never learned to read.
Could it be that he was an innate evil cultivator with a sacred physique, born reading books of evil cultivators? But he could also naturally understand these books like the "Spirit Treasure General Knowledge" and "Ruyi Wind Manipulation Skill."
"Senior sister, why are these characters different from what I saw before?"
"This is the Divine Mountain Text."
"Divine Mountain Text? What is that?"
"There are two types of written language in this world; one is the widely used Five Continents Text, and the other is the special Divine Mountain Text. Just like swords, text can also carry Dao Rhythms and connect Profound Qi. Divine Mountain Text is a special script jointly created by the five Immortal Ancestors. However, it is complex in form, obscure in writing, and extremely mysterious, making it very difficult to learn. Even if someone learns it, they may not be able to write it, so it has never been widely taught.
The same symbols on a talisman drawn in Divine Mountain Text have greater power than those in Five Continents Text. The same sentence in a book written in Divine Mountain Text brings deeper insight than one written in Five Continents Text. There are many other special effects, so the Divine Mountain strictly controls the usage of this text. Those who can write Divine Mountain Text cannot use it recklessly. These two books of mine are special Divine Mountain Text classics for important disciples to study."
Fairy Wangshu patiently explained. She didn’t think much of it, as You Su came from a remote place and had been blind since childhood. It was already not easy for him to learn Five Continents Text through Divine Sense, so it was normal for him not to know Divine Mountain Text. Moreover, Divine Mountain Text isn’t something that can be learned just because one wants to.
You Su nodded upon hearing this, frowning slightly, still unable to understand why he could naturally read the Five Continents Text but not the Divine Mountain Text. Deep within him, an extremely strange feeling arose, yet he couldn’t discern its origin.
You Su decided to temporarily set aside this uncanny feeling. If this innate literacy ability were carelessly revealed to others, it would only garner suspicion and worry.
"Senior sister, can you teach me Divine Mountain Text?"
Fairy Wangshu paused momentarily, her two long index fingers twirling slightly together, and said:
"I cannot teach you, junior brother. Only those from the Immortal Ancestor Pagoda, or the Peak Master of Book Immortal Peak, have the qualification to teach others Divine Mountain Text."
You Su detected his senior sister’s apology for not being able to help him and said:
"Sorry, senior sister; I suppose I can only trouble you to read it aloud for me first."
Fairy Wangshu blinked her eyes, looking at You Su with a gaze that became a few degrees gentler, clearly happy to be able to assist her junior brother again:
"Sure."
Before You Su could take out the book, Fairy Wangshu began reciting on her own:
"Let’s start with ’Sword Skill General Knowledge.’ The sword, after all, is the sharpest among all gentilities..."
Thus, for three days in a row, You Su and his senior sister diligently studied together.
Through these two books and his senior sister’s explanations, You Su gained a deeper understanding of the path of cultivation, as well as the Sword Dao, which he excelled in the most. Meanwhile, Fairy Wangshu, under You Su’s tutelage, learned more about the mundane affairs outside the mountain.
...
In the small courtyard on Lotus Peak, Lotus Sword Venerable was still in secluded cultivation, not yet returned.
The exquisite Jade Rabbit Mask fully covered Fairy Wangshu’s face, revealing only a pair of clear blue eyes like flowing water. Her white dress was quite conservative, yet it couldn’t conceal her slender waist and long legs, leaving only her jade neck and fair arms exposed, with skin as white as congealed snow.
Beside her was a peach tree. The fruit of this tree had no peculiar effects, being a rather ordinary Spirit Fruit, merely having effects like nourishing the spirit vein and stabilizing the spiritual platform. Still, its taste was widely praised, regarded as one of the most beloved Spirit Fruits by the vast community of cultivators.
Fairy Wangshu’s sword had unknowingly left its sheath, which she was now using cautiously to trim the peach tree’s branches. Even though it was a Spirit Plant, if left unpruned, the peaches would not grow large.
You Su, meanwhile, was using his Divine Sense to fully concentrate on perceiving his senior sister’s swordsmanship, each stab and slice perfectly executed. Even he, who prided himself on his Sword Dao talent, couldn’t guarantee trimming every fine branch as she could.
You Su suddenly wanted to test if his senior sister could remain so focused and seized the opportunity to speak:
"Senior sister!"
Fairy Wangshu, however, was unmoved, slicing through the branch decisively.
"What’s the matter?"
You Su was secretly amazed; his sister’s hand was truly as steady as Mount Tai.
"I must thank you for reading to me these past days; it’s been very demanding."
"Not at all, Master said reviewing past lessons brings new insights." Fairy Wangshu continued cutting branches.
"That’s two different things. Is there anything you like, senior sister? I’d like to prepare a gift for you as a token of my gratitude."
"Something I like?" Fairy Wangshu repeated, seemingly pondering, and then said, "I like junior brother."
You Su was momentarily taken aback, not conceited, knowing his senior sister must have confused the concept of liking and said, "I’m asking about objects or items, not people."
"Isn’t junior brother an object?"
You Su was instantly left speechless and could only say, "Items. I mean, what kind of item does senior sister like?"
Fairy Wangshu, however, suddenly sheathed her sword without answering, faintly saying:
"Junior brother, the Third Elder is here."
The Third Elder?
You Su spread his Divine Sense, yet apart from his senior sister’s figure in the Sea of Consciousness, there was no one else present.
"Greetings, Third Elder."
Fairy Wangshu sheathed her sword and respectfully bowed in a certain direction.
