Chapter 475: World of Heart & Predation
Chapter 475: World of Heart & Predation
A-Rank Talent—Shadow Manipulation. S-Rank Talent—Devil Summoning.
SS-Rank Talent—Netherworld Flames. S-Rank Talent...
The bubbles’ information emerged in Liora’s mind, letting her understand why there were so many talents here.
Obviously, everything was related to her previous experiences and former abilities.
Things like Devil Summoning stemmed from the Primogenitor’s Edict ability, while the Netherworld Flames came from her understanding of Devil nature and the concept of Fire.
With the help of the World of Heart and Heaven’s Eye, Liora was able to sift through them easily.
Her selection of a talent grew countless times easier. She even had the chance to recall some basic information that every student would learn.
"The talents of this world are innate abilities that a practitioner can only awaken during the Awakening Ceremony. Generally, they are divided into different Ranks according to their power and potential."
"F-Rank talents are at the bottom, while SSS-Rank talents are the most powerful.", Liora thought.
Most of her talents were either A-Rank or S-Rank. There were only a few worse ones than that, evidence of her past life’s overwhelming strength.
At the same time, several talents reached the SSS-Rank.
Among them, there were only a few that drew her attention.
SSS-Rank Talent—Illusion World.
SSS-Rank Talent—Ancestor’s Majesty.
SSS-Rank Talent—Time Reversal.
World of Heart, Archdevil Bloodline, and Snake of Time—she suspected these were the sources of these talents.
Among all the bubbles around her, these three were clearly the strongest.
Yet, just when she was preparing to choose one among them, another new talent caught her attention.
???-Rank Talent—Predation.
The bubble representing this talent was inconspicuous among the rest of them. Compared to the S-Rank talents, it looked ordinary, let alone those reaching an SSS rating.
However, it was exactly this "ordinary" talent that Liora could not see through despite using Heaven’s Eye.
She was not stupid.
She realized this was not a mistake, nor a malfunction. Rather, this mysterious talent was perhaps the strongest!
"In the Human Civilization, those who have awakened A-Rank talents are already considered geniuses. An S-Rank talent is enough to enroll in any university. An SS-Rank talent can only be encountered once in a whole group of galaxies."
As for SSS-Rank talents? Liora shook her head.
This was a legendary talent that could only appear in theory, and no one had ever awakened one. At least, no one had revealed it.
Yet now, Liora had discovered a talent that was even stronger than that mythical rank—Predation.
It was apparent that there was something wrong.
"I’m afraid that such talent should not have appeared in this world.", she whispered.
"This is most likely the result of several influences. The Devil Empress’s Furnace, the Devouring concept, and my past identity as a World Devourer certainly played a role in its conception."
"But the most important thing should be the influence of the Demon World."
Every Devil could grow stronger by devouring souls. This was an incredible ability that only the Demon World could bestow upon its "children".
In that case, it made sense that a talent affected by this ability would directly surpass this world’s ranking system.
Ultimately, the reason for its appearance did not matter. After taking a brief look around and finding no other talent transcending the limits, Liora easily made her decision.
Soon, all the other bubbles around her burst, while the last one merged with her consciousness.
--
In the outside world, no one knew what Liora had experienced.
The students below waited silently, some waiting for their turn and others to see the talent she would awaken.
However, the students didn’t know that Elena had secretly grown anxious.
Several seconds had passed since Liora activated the Awakening Stone, but she had yet to wake up.
The time spent was short, but for an Awakening of a student, such a delay was significant and represented danger.
"Could it be that something went wrong? The Teaching Department claimed that the new Awakening Stones have absolutely zero chances of failure. Were their claims empty?", the teacher couldn’t help but worry, ready to forcibly wake up Liora if necessary.
Fortunately, the worst did not happen.
Just as she was preparing to take action, Liora’s eyelids suddenly fluttered. Then, her eyes opened.
The teacher patted her chest and breathed a sigh of relief. Pretending that nothing happened, she looked at Liora and asked a familiar question.
"What’s your awakened talent?"
Compared to before, Elena appeared to be quite curious when asking this time. Clearly, she had great expectations regarding Liora’s Awakening.
In response, Liora paused for a brief moment. A second later, she waved her hand, causing countless elements to gather on top of her palm.
Colors flashed and took various forms.
Red, green, blue, and brown. Fire, wind, water, earth.
"Teacher, the talent I awakened is the SS-Rank Elemental Affinity. It allows me to manipulate the elements and use them as I wish."
Witnessing this scene, the teacher quickly nodded her head and began noting it down.
"Good! Good! You deserve to be that person’s niece. An SS-Rank talent... Huh?—"
Mid-sentence, Elena paused. She recalled the words that had just come out of her mouth before rubbing her eyes and staring at the elements on top of Liora’s hand once more.
"What did you say? SS-Rank talent?!", a loud exclamation soon escaped her mouth, spreading throughout the hall.
--
It took a few minutes for Elena to calm down and to let Liora walk away. After confirming several times that she had not heard wrong, she could only let her leave.
As she stepped down from the podium, Liora sensed the gazes of several people.
Some of them looked at her with admiration and excitement, while others glanced at her with envy and hatred written all over their faces.
She paid heed to neither of them. Finding a place along the hall, she found a seat and sat down.
Then, she closed her eyes.
Part of her mind concentrated on her newly awakened talent, while another worked hard to integrate the memories of this life.
Unknowingly, time quickly went by. By the time Liora had finished digesting the information, the Awakening Ceremony was nearing its end.
The teacher was disappointed. Apart from Liora, no other student had awakened an extraordinary talent.
However, as she turned to look at her proud student who had defied her highest expectations, Elena’s face broke into a smile.
"Okay, everyone.", she stated.
"Today’s Awakening Ceremony is finally over. I believe you’re exhausted and have to get familiar with your situation. Since that’s the case, the class will disperse."
"We all will meet here tomorrow morning. Don’t forget to come. Although the classes are over, the school will distribute Virtual Helmets to everyone and give instructions regarding the upcoming College Examination."
The teacher’s words made even the most disappointed of students excited. Seeing this, the teacher nodded in satisfaction, knowing that her trick had worked.
After saying a couple more words and giving some encouragement to the "failing" students, she hurriedly left the classroom with the goal of reporting to the principal.
Only the recently-awakened students remained, soon breaking into loud chatter.
A few among them wished to get close to their "most successful" classmate. However, before they could rise up and strike a conversation with her, Liora had already quietly slipped away.
