Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 476: Nova Terra Planet & Cosmic Energy

Chapter 476: Nova Terra Planet & Cosmic Energy

The Nova Terra Planet closely resembled Earth.

High-rise buildings made of concrete and metal could be seen almost everywhere, while cars and other types of vehicles drove past them.

Such a scene would have been shocking for any other Devil. This was a completely different scenery than what such beings were used to.

Fortunately, Liora still had the memories of her life back on Earth.

Combined with those of her current body, she quickly adjusted to this sudden change.

Glancing at the children who were playing in a nearby park and listening to their cheerful chatter, she couldn’t help but shake her head.

"It’s almost the same. If not for the existence of extraordinary powers, I’m afraid this world might have developed just like the Earth of my previous life."

"However..."

Raising her head, Liora glanced at the spacecrafts leaving the atmosphere at the speed of sound, as well as the people flying above her head and disappearing into space.

With such powers, she knew full well that the Human Civilization couldn’t focus solely on technology.

--

This body’s residence was only a few blocks away from Helios High School.

It didn’t take Liora long to reach her destination: a large two-story mansion left by her deceased parents.

With the pension paid by the government and the wealth the two had left behind, Liora could be considered wealthy even in the entire Nova Terra Planet, much less this city.

Shaking her head, Liora used her fingerprint to open the gate and stepped into the mansion.

After wandering around for a few minutes and confirming there was nothing wrong, she rushed to her room following her memories.

Closing the door, she sat cross-legged on her bed and fell into deep thought.

Now that people were no longer surrounding her, it was time to think about her current situation and make plans for the future.

"I can sense that the Demon World is still watching me closely. It appears that my gamble with the Hollow Ancestor is not negotiable. Even if I have the System to shield me, it’s impossible to survive its punishment now that it has targeted me.", Liora shook her head.

Clearly, the System could only make her undetectable.

Once the Demon World had paid special attention to her, there was nothing it could do to save her.

"This means I must grow stronger as soon as possible. The Hollow Ancestor must be in the same situation as me. Most likely, he has just awakened and is working to regain his strength."

"Although I possess the World of Heart and can exert formidable combat power if need be, it’s impossible to be certain that he doesn’t possess something similar."

Liora’s gaze sharpened.

"I must focus on improving my strength. I should aim to surpass my previous peak before attempting to deal with the Hollow Ancestor and ’completing’ the gamble."

Liora knew there was only one way to achieve this.

Just like in the worlds she had visited before, it would require her to practice the native power system.

Information instantly appeared in her mind. Most of it was passed down by the school, while some came from her own experiences.

"Humans in this world practice what they call Gene Awakening. Awakeners can ’awaken’ their abilities and evolve their genes, unleashing the hidden potential within their mortal bodies."

Such a description did not seem much different from the Knight power system she was familiar with.

But aside from the completeness of the power system itself and the sense of perfection it gave, there was something else that attracted Liora’s attention.

"I’m afraid this power system is the strongest I’ve ever come into contact with.", she clicked her tongue.

"Although they are just rumors, I’ve heard people say that there are beings that can easily shatter clusters of galaxies with just a wave of their hand."

"Such a power should be equivalent to an Archdevil. Moreover, there are likely even stronger beings...", she whispered, the enthusiasm in her eyes apparent.

Liora had known this was a powerful world. After all, it was the birthplace of Diana, or rather, the Zerg Queen who had fused with her.

Yet, she had never expected there would be such immediate benefits.

She was already determined to practice the native power system. Now that she understood its value and potential, her determination grew even stronger.

As always, Liora wouldn’t hesitate after making a decision—especially now, when every minute mattered.

Sifting through the memories of this body, she soon focused on a piece of information.

Cosmic Energy Refinement Technique—the elementary technique that all Awakeners practiced.

"My parents in this life were both Rank 2 Awakeners, equivalent to Lesser Devils. Otherwise, even if the Cosmic Energy Refinement Technique is quite common, they would have never passed it down to me so easily."

Just like its name suggested, this technique guided an Awakener to refine Cosmic Energy.

Only those who had awakened their talents could do so, which was why the former Liora had not practiced in the past.

Of course, having experienced the Awakening Ceremony, this was no longer an issue for her.

"The efficiency of refining Cosmic Energy is said to be related to one’s awakened talent. An A-Rank talent can refine Cosmic Energy hundreds of times faster than an F-Rank one."

"I wonder how efficient my talent is..."

Liora did not have to mull this over. After a few seconds, she had finished comprehending the technique and could put it to the test.

She closed her eyes.

As she concentrated, she sensed an invisible energy floating all around her, akin to the demonic energy of the Demon World.

Of course, there were also major differences. Unlike the cold, chaotic, and corrosive demonic energy, this one was cool and docile.

Liora’s current state was the first step in practicing the Cosmic Energy Refinement Technique—sensing the Cosmic Energy.

As for the second...

"I need to channel my talent to attract this energy into my body."

Upon that thought, a black light shimmered at the center of Liora’s body.

It was the representation of the Predation talent, being the "gene" in the term Gene Awakening.

As soon as the black light appeared, the Cosmic Energy rioted.

Without Liora needing to take any action, it moved on its own and began pouring into her body.

It flowed towards her cells and fused with them.

As if her body had finally received the nourishment it always lacked, her cells began to evolve, and her genes changed.

Liora could feel her physical body growing stronger and her mind sharper with every passing second.
