Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 474: Awakening & Talents

Chapter 474: Awakening & Talents

Human Federation, Nova Terra, Helios High School.

In a vast hall, a young female teacher stood on a slightly raised podium, looking at the hundreds of nervous students below with an encouraging gaze.

"Okay, everyone. You don’t have to worry. You’ve all prepared for this day since enrolling at Helios High School. I believe you’re already familiar with the Awakening Ceremony.", she stated, waving her hand.

"Let’s begin."

The teacher, Elena, cast a final glance at the students before pulling out a long list.

"The first to come: Aaron Smith.", she softly called out, and a trembling young man stepped out from the crowd.

Recalling the earlier instructions they had received, he walked up to the podium and placed his hand on a giant blue gem located behind Elena.

"Don’t worry.", her gentle voice echoed in his ears.

"Close your eyes and concentrate your mind."

The moment he followed her instructions, Aaron’s vision went dark, and he lost consciousness.

Several hours quickly passed for Aaron. But in reality, the time that had passed was extremely short.

Not long after the youth placed his hand on the Awakening Stone, a single point of light lit up at the center of his body as his muscles tensed.

The next moment, Aaron opened his eyes.

A trace of unreality flashed across his eyes, accompanied by faint disappointment.

Elena noticed this, but didn’t try to comfort him. Instead, holding a pen and a piece of paper in her hand, she questioned softly.

"What’s your awakened talent?"

"Superhuman Strength.", the boy immediately replied.

’Aaron Smith, D-Rank Talent—Superhuman Strength. Potential: Medium.’

The teacher wrote a string of words on her notepad. She then motioned Aaron to go down before summoning another name.

"Aston Erwin... E-Rank Talent—Slippery Feet..."

"Boschia Uron... D-Rank Talent—Flexible Arms..."

"..."

Name after name was called, and talent after talent was revealed.

As time passed, everyone realized that Aaron’s awakened talent was not so bad after all.

Most people were like him, only awakening D-Rank talents, while there were even some who had it even worse. Compared to Slippery Feet, his Superhuman Strength now seemed incredible!

Time passed. Until finally, the teacher reached a certain name on her list.

"Liora Augustus.", Elena called out, and a young woman immediately stepped out of the crowd.

The woman was different not only because of her bloody-crimson hair and eyes, but also because of her behavior.

Unlike the other students, who were anxious and fidgeting, this woman was calm and indifferent, as if today was not the most important day in her life.

She calmly stepped onto the podium and placed her palm onto the Awakening Stone without the need for further instructions or guidance.

"Liora Augustus...", the teacher couldn’t help but whisper. This student’s information resurfaced in her mind.

She didn’t remember most of the students here.

However, she had memorized this one in particular. Both because of her own extraordinary nature and her background.

"Let’s hope she can awaken a powerful talent like her aunt. That way, Helios High School will no longer be under so much pressure.", Elena silently prayed in her mind, staring at Liora with expectation.

However, what no one, including the teacher and the students below, could know was that Liora’s situation was completely different from that of other people undergoing an Awakening.

The moment her hand came into contact with the Awakening Stone and her will transferred to another space, something hidden deep within her appeared to have awakened.

A long stream of memories flooded her mind. They overpowered the mere eighteen years of memory of this life, as if overwriting them.

Liora was forced to close her eyes.

By the time she opened them again, her gaze had changed.

If she were only calm and indifferent before, then she now looked truly unfathomable, like a being who had truly seen through everything.

It was as if even the very end of the universe would not cause the slightest change in her expression.

However, this illusion was soon shattered.

A trace of emotion flickered in Liora’s eyes as she digested the memories of "Liora Augustus".

"My conditions this time are far worse than those of the Demon Weapon World. Although I was only a Warrior back then, I was at least strong enough to protect myself. Now...", Liora shook her head.

She could feel that her body outside was still that of a mortal. Let alone razing a mountain with a simple punch, even an ordinary stone wall could defeat her.

Liora couldn’t help but frown, though she quickly relaxed.

She discovered that something existed within her mind. Or rather, within her soul space.

It was an unfathomable power that could threaten Archdevils and perhaps even surpassed her true Devil strength.

To her surprise, it was her World of Heart! Though she had been reincarnated, this power system had followed her, remaining completely intact!

"This is unexpected... I originally thought I would lose everything and would have to start all over again during the competition. Now, it seems that I’ll have a powerful trump card in our confrontation."

Recalling the deal she had reached and her competition with the Hollow Ancestor, which would end up in one of them perishing and the other inheriting everything that the loser possessed, Liora’s expression grew solemn.

She had to consciously suppress her thoughts and snap back to reality. Or rather, return the colorful space her consciousness was in.

Hundreds of vibrant bubbles floated all around her, some approaching her coyly and some looking fearful of her.

Liora possessed all the memories of this body. She knew each of these bubbles represented a talent. The reason she was brought here was to select one of them.

The only thing that caught her off guard was...

"Aren’t there supposed to be a few talents at best? Even, only one of them will appear for most people. How come I possess so many talents?", she wondered, feeling the beginnings of a headache as she glanced at the hundreds of bubbles.

Her Awakening would only be completed once she had chosen one of them.

However, this was not an easy decision to make, as it would directly impact her future.

More importantly, it would greatly influence the ending of her confrontation against the Hollow Ancestor.

Just as Liora sighed and prepared to investigate the bubbles one by one, she suddenly had an idea.

Glancing at her own soul space and looking at the World of Heart settled inside, she couldn’t help but urge it secretly. Immediately, the skin on her forehead split apart, and a golden pupil emerged.

For a moment, Liora seemed to jump through dimensions, her vision elevating.

By the end, when she stared at the bubbles around her, she appeared able to glimpse into their true nature.
