Chapter 250: Artificial Prodigy
Chapter 250: Artificial Prodigy
Inside the Class-A territory, Adela was in a standoff against Mordica and Ariel.
The two Class-E students stood opposite her, wary and guarded.
In a low voice, Ariel spoke to Mordica. "Her ability is an instant one. However, it needs processing time. I’m not sure how long this time will be, but we have to take her down before then."
Mordica glanced at him, her eyes narrowed.
"How do you know that?"
The boy shrugged and didn’t reply. Instead, he held his daggers tightly, then dashed at the lilac-haired girl.
"Ariel Hilton."
Adela called his name, smiling. Before he reached her, she immediately summoned a thick black rod and swung it at him.
Instead of dodging and pressing towards her, Ariel completely retreated, returning to Mordica’s side.
The two girls were confused, but his next words made sense.
"I just probed her now. She’s very skilled in using that rod, and she can probably keep us at bay while getting ready to use her ability on us."
Mordica frowned, her expression hardening. "I’ll take her on. You take the flag."
Despite hearing their words and plans, Adela remained unfazed.
She grinned, then beckoned for the witch to attack her.
Mordica didn’t waste time and blinked before her.
She swung her daggers, but they were met by the black rod, easily repelling them backwards.
’Hm, she’s strong despite her petite frame.’
Grunting, she pulled back her daggers and brought out a sword.
"Oh?" Adela blinked, interested.
’It seems this girl isn’t so simple, hm? Heh.’
Rolling her rod in her hand, she suddenly struck to the side, forcing Ariel back as he tried to bypass her and reach the flagpole.
’Strange boy, wait for me. I’ll soon be done solving this purple puzzle.’
Smirking, she defended against every one of Mordica’s attacks with some effort.
When using the sword, Mordica was faster and more precise, resembling Hazel in some aspects, yet different.
Her own sword skills didn’t carry heaviness, but a lightness that could always fool the enemy.
Sometimes, it felt like her sword twisted between the gaps of Adela’s defense, trying to reach her with every means possible.
It was really baffling to deal with.
"You’re really strong."
At some point, she had to give out a praise to the girl. Not many had been able to give Adela this much difficulty.
However, this was the end.
"You can rest now."
Mordica suddenly froze, and her eyes closed gently. She fell to the ground, her breathing low and steady like she was asleep.
Ariel held the flagpole in his hand and stopped.
"What exactly did you do to her?"
He asked, though his voice carried no hint of curiosity.
Adela squatted near Mordica, eyeing her with interest.
"Nothing dangerous. I just put her body to a forced stop. You won’t punish me for that, would you?"
She turned to him with a puppy face, looking vulnerable.
Ariel wasn’t affected in the slightest. His expression remained blank as he shook his head.
Adela clicked her tongue, then stood up. She looked at the ever-changing Life Equation above Ariel, and felt a bit of unease.
"Why are you so strange Ariel? Is it really because of the White Rose?"
Finally, Ariel had a strong reaction. Killing intent flickered in his gaze, and his muscles coiled instantly.
"Hm? Looks like you were trained to eliminate anyone who knows about the White Rose facility? That’s cute."
She giggled, looking completely at ease.
Ariel’s body relaxed slightly. "I wouldn’t ask you how you know. I just want to be sure. What do you want to do with such knowledge? Blackmail me?"
Adela’s smile dimmed. "What do you take me for? Someone who loves to control?"
Ariel wanted to nod, but he stopped himself.
"Well, it’d certainly be nice to have you as a mole in your class, but I can tell that Kaiser will eat you alive before you can even be useful."
Now smiling again, the girl said to him.
The silver-haired boy was puzzled. "Eat me alive? Why do you think he would do so? He has no interest in the class competitions."
Hearing his questions, she failed to suppress a laugh.
"Of course, he isn’t. However, that’s not what I’ll be using you for. I would have been using you to target him."
Despite hearing this, his expression still didn’t change.
"Is that so? It’s good that you realize that is a bad move."
Adela shook her head, glancing at the flagpole in his hand.
"Hmm, you don’t sound like you believe he can eat you, though? Typical White Rose machines. Tch."
She openly expresses her disdain and displeasure for the White Rose.
Their goal was to create artificial prodigies that would surpass the Solace Clan prodigies.
Of course she wasn’t aware about the latter part of their goal, but she hated the idea of an artificial prodigy.
And now, the masterpiece artificial prodigy was right before her.
It was the perfect meeting she has been waiting for.
Ariel read her intentions and calmly backed away.
"I’m afraid I’ll have to go now. My objective has been achieved."
Tightening her grip on her weapon, Adela took a step forward. "You think you can leave? I could shut you down just like her."
Ariel paused, glanced at Mordica’s figure, then shook his head.
"That’s not possible. I can feel you trying something on me, and I am actively resisting it. So unless I stop, I see no way you’re stopping me from leaving."
He took one more step back, causing Adela’s expression to darken.
"Don’t worry. I will send ’him’ over so you can play with him instead. Goodbye."
He turned around and fled. She couldn’t even catch a glimpse of him as he disappeared.
"That damned machine."
Gritting her teeth, she turned back to Mordica. "What shall I do with you now? You’re really looking like a sleeping beauty. I feel jealous of your beauty already."
Clicking her tongue, she folded her arms and waited.
"If you don’t come in the next ten minutes, I’ll have to do some horrible things to her, darling."
