Chapter 972 - 971 - Harmonic Tempering

It took a week to settle into their new accommodations. In that time, Lind had noticed several attempts to reach him, but he ignored them. The Inn's owners also only allowed them to send messages but that was it.

He learned enough to understand that he was not being charged at the moment either as no request for Qi stones or any medium came. He suspected the attack and his saving of the guide were the reasons for that.

Sorcha and Belia stayed in a room together but he and Delenn examined the facilities. She liked what she saw and he let her Forge as she desired. She had been denied the tools to advance her profession for so long and finally they were back in her grasp!

The demon children were allowed to room together or separately as they desired. He also gave them some items to test their potential but there was no rush.

The reason was trying to solve the cleansing issue. No one below Immortal Realm could survive the process he went through. The main issue was that he had to let the flesh become tainted and then forcibly remove all of it to purify the body.

While body tempering was a valid path, it was always immensely painful and required a will of steel to survive.

Some could follow it too if needed to advance as no one wanted to stop their cultivation if it meant they could live longer.

Still, he would kill anyone else at the moment if he used the same method.

His body no longer suffered from the taint and it saved him a lot of issues with maintaining his harmony at all times.

He tested it with several day-long cultivation sessions and his crystal finally made progress thanks to the density of the Immortal Qi in the air.

He also was happy to find Law Bindings used to protect the production areas to nearly 100% purity. He could easily compensate with his harmony for that much!

All in all, it was a week of consolidation and understanding how far he had to go. While his crystal was unique, it was like he instinctively knew how to advance!

He had to grasp not only the Laws he had comprehended thus far, he had to deepen his understanding of his harmony and all the elements. It was a monumental task but he would do it!

He also finally confirmed why the Celestial Qi suddenly started to work. He was able to increase the taint in the air and above 90% purity, he suffered no restrictions. Anything below that and it just failed.

He did not know why it failed still but he at least knew it was the taint itself.

He then focused on the cleansing issue.

"This furnace is amazing. Even my own family could not give you a better one!" Delenn was completely transformed. She had been far more relaxed in his Clan but since coming back to the 2nd layer, she had been grim.

Now, she was smiling and happily experimenting with her skills.

He smiled and nodded at her evaluation of the tools but for him they were inadequate.

His elemental theories were superior still even at the 2nd layer of the Celestial Fields!

His tools may not be as powerful as the ones in the inn, but they were better suited for him.

"I am glad you approve, Master. I want to try something if you are willing." He had contemplated several avenues but his body was already repaired and purified.

He needed someone who was not like that to try out his new idea.

She saw how serious his face was and put away her tools. The furnace was tamped down and she grabbed a towel to wipe down her face. The metals cooled that had been smelted into new alloys that she would work with later.

"What is it?" She sat down on the bench across from him and he simply held up his right hand and an emerald flame appeared.

"I think I have a solution but I need to test it. It does nothing to me but I am hopeful it might at least help others." She knew his harmony had many abilities, not least of which was counteracting Fiend Qi.

She understood what he was asking as she glanced at the bracelet on her wrist. Inside the facilities, it barely drained any of its stored Qi but he was asking her to let the tainted Qi in.

"I take it if things go badly, you will be able to reverse it?" He shook his head.

"Unlike me, you are not a 6 elemental. The cleansing I went through might work for another 6 elemental, but not other cultivators. You simply have no foundational benefit like we do." He had confirmed his cleansing was only possible thanks to that.

Anyone else going through it would be ripped apart.

She swallowed as such a fact was not lost on her. Many cursed being a 6 elemental but her student had turned the cultivation world on its head to the point it became such a benefit at the current moment.

"So what is your new idea?" He then activated the wards even though only their party was in the suite. She was not sure why but at times he erected weavings to even further enhance their security.

"Cleansing works from the inside out, but body cultivators temper by experience in increasing manipulation of their bodies. I wondered if I could create an Art or technique to create a harmonic tempering." He began to place 3 artifacts around the open area of the work room.

It had a natural resilience to stress or violent reactions so it was the best place to try it out. Each artifact was different. One was a brazier, which made sense with the natural state of the harmony being a flame, but the other 2 confused Delenn.

One was a concave disc with the wide mouth pointed inward, but then the last one was like a lighting rod. Why would there be a need for a lightning rod?

"Please sit in the center of these artifacts. I will be constructing a weaving with plates." She understood he was testing the whole process. Like formation plates, weavings could be anchored to plates as well.

Unlike the former, weavings were only anchored to those plates. It still made it so that non-weavers could use them if needed.

She sat down and then he held up his hand. She looked at the bracelet and wondered if she would suffer the loss of her aura like all the others of the 2nd layer. She sighed and took it off.

Instantly, the slight taint flooded her body and pain lanced through her. Lind did nothing until she calmed down but he could tell her body felt heavy to her. She seemed afraid but did not say anything.

"I will start with the first part. Exposure." The brazier lit up with emerald flames like a bonfire. There was no heat but Delenn felt like her pores were torn open! She had never felt anything like it!

The concave disk began to shimmer and an emerald fog slowly condensed around her! She glanced at the lightning rod but nothing happened. Ever so slowly, she realized her elements were actually improving!

It was like slight inconsistencies were removed and she felt her aura slightly increase! Still, it was nowhere near the peak. Was that really tempering? She saw the glow to his eyes and waited.

Lind watched as he confirmed the first step worked as painlessly as he expected. It was important to let his harmony bring the elements into sync before the tempering actually began.

"Master, the tempering will now begin. I will be using my Talents to monitor you but you need to let me know if something feels wrong." She arched an eyebrow at him but he simply shrugged as he activated the last artifact.

The harmonic fog around her began to increase but all the hair on her body suddenly stood up! It was not a lighting rod, it was a lightning generator!

The weavings activated all at once as sparks flew around her! Her body began to burn as the lightning struck her. Compared to a tribulation, it was nothing, but soon her body began to feel ill.

What was going on?

The intensity slowly increased until she began to vomit up black bile! It was horrific in stench and color but it was only the beginning.

Her open pores began to exude impurities unlike any time in her life! She had been through cleansing baths and tempering baths in her life, but they were like child's play compared to her current circumstances!

The pain was awful but nothing compared to what Lind had endured. She could feel her aura rising as well! Something clicked in her mind and she was able to guide the lightning where it had to go.

"Good, Master, but now the hard part." She barely processed his words when clouds started to form above her head! They were indoors! How were clouds forming?!

She had no time to prepare when a full emerald bolt slammed into her body. She straightened out like a board as the pain skyrocketed. She had felt worse but it still was terrible.

Lind frowned as it was worse than expected. Yet, he saw a sea of impurity flushed from Delenn's body. Her aura not only returned to what it had been before, but rose quite a bit.

She was unconscious but alive. He noted down the effects and the risks. It was not exactly good news.

Delenn was fine and it was better than the cleansing he had previously performed, but it was still too much for lower than Heaven Realms!

He administered an elixir to her before searing away the impurities. Her body was recovering as Qi and Laws flowed into her much like it had him but at far less volume. She was already a Crystal Tier when banished so she was farther along than him.

He made some notations and hoped he could improve the process to help others. It also had one other limitation he could not overcome. Unlike the bracelet he gave her before, the harmonic Qi had to come from him directly.

In other words, to temper with a harmony would require the 6 elemental to actively control it! He sighed as he had a lot of work but now he had a better idea of what had to be done.

There was hope!
