Chapter 971 - 970 - Golden Vermillion Inn
Chapter 971 - 970 - Golden Vermillion Inn
Lind had the opportunity to visit many places in his just under 10,000 years of life.
He had been in several Divine Inheritances and experienced everything from hovels to the homes of Divine Realm cultivators made of powerful beasts and ancient ruins that inspired wonder for generations.
Even with all that, he was impressed by the incredible decorations of the Golden Vermillion Inn. The lobby was opened up with a massive relief of a phoenix bathed in golden flames as its red body and feathers shone brightly.
He saw grade 7 light crystal lamps that made the interior gentle on the eyes and did not distract him from seeing the dark wood benches and bright flowers decorating the tables next to them.
He noted the flowers were in porcelain vases that were etched with decorations of scenes of nature. The images seemed to flow with life!
He had never seen such exquisite work before and the chandelier above them seemed closer to a Law Binding than a formation as well!
He could study the entire room for days and be happy! It was only millennia of practice that kept his face clear and his eyes focused on the large desk in front of his group.
A man and a woman were bowing at him but he glanced at an empty space behind them and to the left. His Eyes and Touch could not pierce whatever was there but his draconic senses told him a threat was there.
"Law Maester, welcome to our establishment. I see you have many ser–" The man was about to continue when Delenn slammed him with her aura. Unlike other Immortals, her aura was totally unaffected by the Corruption.
A sudden thought went through Lind's mind as he saw the man wilt under her pressure. Everything around him was wonderful but it was also easily over a million years old! He could tell that much but the maintenance was still near perfect.
Flaws were starting to show up but to maintain such powerful items, even the simple decorations, would require pristine work. Why would they suddenly have flaws if the Law Binding resolved the tainted Qi issue?
"I see, so that was why." His words made Delenn look confused but she lifted her aura as Lind moved closer to a vase with a flowing waterfall on it. It seemed to thunder down from a clifftop into a wide basin surrounded by deer and bovine creatures.
He merely looked at it and slowly nodded.
"I understand part of it now but the method is odd. How does it work?" He was speaking aloud and none dared interfere after Delenn's performance.
A block of jade suddenly appeared in Lind's hands and all felt profound flows of Qi and Laws! A Maester at work!
Any doubts about him vanished as many were professionals in their own right but shock slowly spread as they felt a key difference!
There was no taint at all! None! How?!
As they watched, the jade shifted forms and became delicate as it took on colors that quickly solidified into a strange sight. It was all black at first but then tiny pricks of light took shape before recognition flittered on all.
The night sky! It was a skyscape!
Before even a few more breaths had passed the density of Laws increased as Lind finally grasped a piece of knowledge. Laws were not just about the fundamental bedrock of existence but were a part of all things even when not felt by cultivators!
He recalled basic astronomy as he put up the Milky Way on the jade vase exterior. It now had 2 handles at the narrow neck but they became a very dark blue that blended into the nebulae and stars of the galaxy he displayed.
As if he always knew how, he infused all the elements into it, even the Celestial ones, without understanding why they suddenly worked. The reduction in taint had never worked before but they worked now.
The Fiend lived in the city, was that why he could suddenly use them?
He buried the questions as the final shape of the vase solidified under his glowing hands and the large bulb narrowed once more.
His mind felt exhausted but he then compared what he had made to the one holding the yellow and red flowers in front of him. He was still not as good, but that was not the key thing he was looking for.
Understanding flooded him! The Realm Refiner had to be built in the 1st layer so the other layers had to be locked off! The loss of aura was instant and it meant the Immortals could no longer descend even if a Sovereign Tier came down!
"Fascinating. I understand it." He then looked at his creation without going beneath the surface and shocked himself as he saw the stars move! It was not very fast but it was relatively accurate! He had no degrees in astronomy and normally he could tell the North Star from a satellite, but his improved mind showed all the information was still tucked away if he wanted it!
Further, he suspected the Laws filled in some gaps humans did not have on Earth!
"I have no servants. My assistant aside, I am teaching these younglings. I would like an accommodation for all of us please." His sudden shift caught them all off guard but the awe in the eyes around them did not fade.
"Of course, the Oberon Suite is perfect for that!" The name made Lind narrow his eyes briefly but he nodded. Another Earth reference or just coincidence?
It had been some time but the devastation of the Fiend War and the desolation of the Celestial Fields likely erased the tracks of previous reincarnators.
The 2nd layer had no such issues but it meant their influence could be diluted as well. No one knew why the Sapphire Auction House used what was essentially tablets after all.
He bowed and his group followed the young woman that chose the suite. Her counterpart almost hid behind the wooden desk as they passed but no one looked at him.
"If the young girl, Felicia, requires further aid, let me know. She was attacked because of my presence." Lind spoke as they traversed a hallway into a massive courtyard between the suites.
The inn was far grander than expected. Space was clearly manipulated on a scale only a Law Binding could do.
He was seeing far more flexibility with Law Bindings than he had understood before. He also wondered if the Corruption had spawned the field or something else.
Perhaps it was the fact that Immortal Qi was far more prevalent in the Celestial Fields and the 1st layer was just too empty for him to see similar examples before.
His entourage included Delenn still wearing the black cloak to pretend as his assistant and the 2 human girls with the dozen small demon children looking around in awe. He had grown closer to them and made a point to let them play and ask questions.
Some of them told sad tales of how their villages were attacked but 2 of them had been kidnapped on the road and did not know if their families were alive or dead.
The latter was most likely but it would be near impossible to find out.
As they walked down a well manicured path of golden stone lined with knee high bushes, he saw the names of each suite.
Oberon was on the larger side but he noticed a similar naming feature. Morpheus, Titania, and other classical mythology names. He also felt something familiar as a woman glanced out at them.
Her hair seemed blonde at first but then shimmered through red and orange as if burning!
A phoenix!
Feng was clearly stronger than the bloodline he felt from the woman looking at them, but only by a slim margin!
The attendant stopped in front of the large structure partially covered in mists and produced a stone artifact. It was obsidian or at least mostly obsidian as it was as black as midnight.
Lind noticed it was a shield with a buck with massive antlers on it. He was not sure but that seemed to confirm the naming was not a simple chance. Someone from Earth had created the Golden Vermillion Inn!
"Law Maester, may I know your name?" Lind narrowed his eyes as there should be no one that knew him. A faint smile flittered on his face as he used an old alias.
"Taren Cord. I have no affiliation at this time." The woman bowed and whispered at the artifact. It glowed for a moment and he felt something brush against his soul!
His eyes narrowed and stared directly at the largest structure in the courtyard. It towered over the rest and was what was visible from the front.
It had dark golden walls with crimson highlights. The steep roofs were so dark of a red to almost be black and it was 7 stories tall.
The feeling pulled back and the attendant seemed to smile as she handed the token to him. The instant it was in his hands, he felt connected to it. It also felt alive! A spirit tool?!
They handed him a spirit tool for a key?!
That fact alone impressed on him the power of this organization. He waited until she was gone until he saw a slot for the token.
He placed it inside the pillar and the mists obscuring their progress vanished to reveal a wonderful villa 3 stories tall and more than enough to hold them.
His aura swept it and smiled as he found dedicated facilities to elixirs, Forging, and weaving as well as the primary professions.
It was not as specialized because of that. His own personal tools might help but he wanted to examine the wards and protections.
"We will be staying here for a time. Also, it is time for you all to cultivate!" The group of young girls turned to him but he smiled as he led them inside. He opened the massive door at the front and let them all in before looking back at the largest structure.
He narrowed his eyes and saw a single word marking it.
{Ra}
He instructed the tool spirit to seal the suite and the mists returned. He wondered who lived there and why their aura seemed to work just fine when no one else's could.
