Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 917 - 916 - Small Waves

Chapter 917 - 916 - Small Waves

A gathering took place in an ornate fortress. It had trappings of gold, crystals, and various precious gems. The fine fabrics strung up near the ceilings were glowing with Qi but it was more decorative than functional.

It was easily able to hold over a thousand people in some rooms but far more servants ran the place so no native or guest needed to even lift a finger to have satisfaction of their desires.

The food and drink was of the highest quality that could be found but more than a few Immortals were dissatisfied since it was far weaker than their foundation. It was all that could be found so no one complained.

"I don't see any Maidens or those annoying Swords here. It seems the rumors are true." A man with a neatly cropped dark beard sipped from a golden cup. The wine was sparkling with light but it only brought a grimace from him.

"Your highness should not assume things. The Maidens are quite busy and unlikely to indulge in this kind of activity. Besides, perhaps the Sylvan Kingdom is celebrating the new ascendance of their prince to being Immortal. His tribulation was what was felt not long ago afterall." Another man with pale skin and slicked back blonde hair nursed his own cup as a skewer of meat was partially eaten in his other hand.

Their robes were of very fine make but more practical than anything around them. The blonde man had finely tan robes with the symbol of a flame on the background of black. The Smoldering Flame Sect had sent him as their representative.

The other man had a set of robes of black, violet, and gold. He had no symbol but there was no need as he was from a high kingdom. The Dark Orchid Kingdom had been a rising power for the last 20,000 years but the devastation of the Fiend War made it possible.

Once the Celestial Fields opened up, it helped such powers explode their Immortal ranks.

The prince narrowed his eyes but doubted the validity of such an excuse. It was normal to have a celebration but a glance around the room brought quite a few familiar faces mixed with new ones he had never met.

The key thing, however, was the ones that were missing.

The Heavenly Maiden Sect, Divine Sword Sect, Hellfire Sect, Wilds Sect, and any power related to demons, beasts, or allowing either into them, was missing.

The vast majority were kingdoms, empires, and a few mercantile powers. The new faces matched a few reports of those rising powers none had contact with before.

Prince Kyle had kept up with the intelligence reports, but as his power was guarding the Fiend lands, he could not really invite others over. He did notice, however, all his fellows that joined him in such a responsibility were at the party.

Aside from them, he noticed the powers that had become disaffected with the Alliance.

He turned back to the Elder.

"Elder Han, you and I should not lie to each other. We both know what this party is really for." The blonde man smirked but that was all as he finished off his food. They drank and observed the smiling and laughing groups.

Prince Kyle narrowed his eyes as he noticed Sylvan ministers making rounds but only to certain groups. He disliked being used as a cover but he had no concrete proof.

"The north had an incident I am sure you heard of by now. It was said the Frey Clan got involved, and rightly so. Their first generation had a woman nearly stolen from them." The elder whispered that so none but they could hear.

Han's words were known to Kyle but it confirmed only an event reported to him. Why was the Sylvan Kingdom responding? He had no intelligence that they were leaning one way or the other.

"I think we should mingle and see what can be picked up." Kyle's words were acknowledged by a nod from Han. The 2 parted after bowing and moved to other groups. Many empty words were heard but few of substance could be scraped together.

Still, the lack of substance began to paint a faint picture for men like them.

None at the party though noticed a key thing. Despite being the hosts, neither the king nor his children were present at the party.

A darkened room held a small group looking at a projection of the party. There was a heavy silence as they looked on as the ministers did their work.

"Father, some of them are getting wise to the purpose of the party." A young woman's voice spoke up and a white haired man with an ornate crown nodded.

"It does not matter. The job is already done that we needed. A few rumors will put them on guard but that will not hinder the plan." The aged head with fine green and gold robes turned to his left to see a young man shifting around nervously.

The 2 men had similar features but where the old was steady and calm, the young was very jumpy.

"Are there any problems, my son?" The youth jumped but quickly shook his head with shoulder length sandy colored hair. His robes were as fine as his father's.

"Good, then we will proceed as planned." His son bowed before leaving the room. Once he was gone the king's eyes became dull. His august presence became nothing before a tired sigh came from the deep shadows of the room.

"Your brother is going to crack, princess." A young girl slowly stood up as she stretched her voluptuous body before sighing.

"He is not as stupid as father was. He is also too worried about others finding out how he advanced so quickly to think clearly. Honestly, I am stunned we share blood." Her subservient attitude was nowhere in sight then.

Another figure stepped out of the shadows and was a gorgeous woman with lavender skin. Her robes mingled easily to hide her exact location in the shadows. Her eyes were a dark green but she easily towered over the princess.

"The Fat Skull is moving and we will not let him have his way with the major powers. Your Alliance is also in our way so it must be removed." The princess smiled as a dark hand caressed her face.

"The Maidens won't let it happen anyway for obvious reasons but they are conservative outside their own lands." The demoness nodded at her words. A frown then passed over the princess.

"We need to ensure the powers around the Fiends stay friends. It is not an issue we need to unleash." The demoness nodded once more as she pulled the princess into her arms.

"Of course we won't cause a problem there. The old enemy is not forgotten by us, after all." The pair moved away leaving the king sitting numbly on his throne.

The sounds of fabric and moans shortly followed but the king showed no reaction. His was a hollow kingdom of pageantry and lies.

On the projection, the prince joined the party and welcomed all to his celebration as his Sliver Tier aura spread across the room.

None would suspect he had been given a pill to cross the final step from Heaven Realm to Immortal Realm. A pill that was unheard of even by their current records!

The Sylvan Kingdom was a new source of the waves spreading in the realm but none knew it for certain yet. Resources and promises based that night that would lead to the final collapse of the ancient treaties between the Alliance.

Deep inside a territory with no sunlight, an ancient being smiled. She had built up a modest fortress but fortified it with newly recovered resources to create weavings and weapons they had always desired.

Impossibly beautiful people were walking its halls with ash gray skin and white or pale gray hair. The screams that occasionally came from some rooms were normal as well.

The voluptuous woman with black leather armor drank a fine wine as a withered husk lay in a corner. A knock came from the dark wooden door and she waved her hand to swing it open.

"You got my message." She smiled as another woman came in. Normally, her guest would be shorter but she seemed to have gained height. Progress in her experiments was clearly apparent.

"You made it hard to ignore. We have been trapped inside this small corner of the realm for almost 8000 years and now we have a way out?" Mycea was displeased to have the Widow call for her.

They had been strong allies at one point but returning to the Celestial Fields broke it apart. New Shard Tier Immortal Fiends had been born but then stopped due to lack of resources.

They were trapped by their old enemies because the infernal Lind Frey had planned ahead of their arrival.

He somehow restricted their ascension long enough for the Alliance to trap them!

"It is not so much that I have a way out but that the humans are making one all on their own. It is always better to let infighting be of use to us than to cause an issue." Mycea did not understand and the Widow giggled at her.

"The vast majority of the realm is uninhabited but those seeking power are rising. Those not allied with our old enemies have begun causing waves. They are small now but a big one is coming." That got Mycea's attention.

"So we will break out?" The Widow then set down her goblet before and snapped her fingers. A World Realm Fiend male came in and knelt.

"Bring in some refreshment for us. We have plans to make!" The Widow smirked as the man ran off to bring back some humans for them. "The other fools can carve up this little area but we know better. There are places that should be buried deep we can use to create new empires or whatever we want."

Mycea's hood finally stood up straight and she revealed a new face. It was far more beautiful than before.

The Fiends were preparing and their enemies were doing all the work. The waves were spreading and the flames of war were being stoked.
