Chapter 911 - 910 - Broken Alliance
Chapter 911 - 910 - Broken Alliance
It only took 5000 years for cracks to appear.
The Alliance that had been formed for survival against the Fiend threat for over a million years only took 5000 to start falling apart. To be honest, the necessity suppressed tensions as any in fighting would lead to worse than death.
Such a threat made for a great motivation to cooperate even if the goals of your sect or kingdom contradicted another.
When that threat lessened and the Fiends were fairly contained for enough time, ambitions grew.
The Qi and Laws in the Celestial Fields allowed Immortals to grow like cabbages at first. Many in the current generation had struggled and comprehended for centuries to progress so when the Qi and Laws were like raindrops, they exploded forth!
It all slowed down and stabilized eventually but when that happened, various powers took stock and began to plan.
Those hedging in the Fiends did not change much as they took their role seriously and any power that threatened them would still be struck down, but everything else was up for grabs.
Several incidents were the cause for it.
An inexplicable tribulation storm wiped out a small area but none knew the cause nor was it explained but the founder of the current Frey City was there. He refused to answer any questions and his spurning of more marriages into his family for political reasons caused a lot of tension.
Still, his power was unimpeachable due to the fact he did not restrict his elixir, Forging, and weaving trades via the Starfire House.
The open policy made it hard to hate him for long.
After that, 2 more incidents laid the foundation for the break up of the Alliance.
The discovery of an old Heavenly Maiden Branch that had fallen into the Sacred Paths and the ascension pools finally fully opening up.
The Maidens were not the one to find it, another group was. They were simply exploring the various caverns of the Sacred Paths for any treasures as they could only have survived inside them.
A few had been found but only minor caches or maybe the remains of a major battle.
Useful, but nothing for anyone to start a war over.
It was then that a small scouting group from the Vishas Sect that had begun to expand its influence in the Endless Plains found an entire structure with its wards still working!
They had been so excited when the clear image of a golden woman in a field of white made it clear what they had found.
While most of the group wanted to raid the structures they had found, one of the men in the group owed his sister's life to the Maidens. He crushed an emergency jade artifact before anyone could stop him.
The wards were still up and were not easily taken down so the scouting group tried to hide the signal to no avail. The Maidens arrived at the same time a group of Elders from the Vishas Sect came.
They were not alone. They knew trying to steal from the Maidens would not work out alone.
In the end, 4 kingdoms, 2 sects, and an empire tried to explain that the right of conquest gave them the right to whatever was inside the structures but the Maidens were having none of it.
The Divine Sword Sect agreed and stunningly the Wilds did too. Aether beasts usually ignored such things but none knew why they suddenly supported the Maidens' claims.
A battle raged for over a decade before a final nail in the coffin came.
Ships arrived in the air over the Sacred Paths exposed to the air now and brought all battles to an end. The Frey Clan had come!
More specifically, the 3 wives of Lind Frey that were former Maidens and Lady Fey.
All hope died in the eyes of the opposing side at that moment. They were roughly equal to the Maidens in the battles but the Frey Clan finally revealed how terrifying they were.
The ruins were given over to the Maidens and all just had to swallow their indignation.
At 4000 years after everything had settled, more powers suddenly flooded into the Celestial Fields. The ascension pools opened up wide and let powers that never knew of the Fiend War to rise up and try to lay claim to all they saw.
Some were respectful but many were arrogant. Rather than unify once more, however, the disgruntled or ambitious made inroads to the new powers and sold information to weaken their rivals.
No war followed as there was still plenty of space but the Heavenly Maiden Sect and Divine Sword Sect suddenly found themselves outnumbered on the Alliance counsel.
The Hellfire and Wilds Sect washed their hands of it save for the Fiend defense.
That was the single point still holding them all together until finally, at 5000 years, battles broke out between former allies.
No one touched the powers bordering around the Fiends but everything else became fair game. Where once, Maidens or Divine Sword Sect members could walk unimpeded, they were now beset by attacks!
Demons were suddenly rejected from cities they could freely walk in. Beasts were enslaved by many organizations and no one could stop it.
At least, no one thought it could be stopped.
Black clouds gathered over the offenders and Wrath of Heaven destroyed them without any mercy! An emerald dragon announced the source but unlike any time before, there was no negotiation from him.
Lind Frey exercised his power as a True Lord. Normally, being a True Lord would make him inviolable to most races, would not be able to act as he was. The issue was the nascent state of the Celestial Fields.
The threat of destabilizing the situation was more dire than anyone realized.
He made that clear but he did not force the Alliance to endure. He simply laid down rules no one could violate for the next 10,000 years.
The gist of it was to carve up the Endless Plains at last. Borders were set up and time given for defenses to be built where few had existed before. Wild beasts were on the rise but their numbers and power were still pathetic.
Treasures and forests were slowly growing but again they were of no interest to the Immortals.
When all was said and done, Lind Frey stated he would not act unless the rules were violated so long as he remained on the current layer of the Celestial Fields.
Some of the new powers did not take his threats seriously despite warnings and that was when the true trump card was introduced.
A Crystal Tier Immortal was under his command!
She was a gorgeous woman and no one could stop her! The fact he hid it for so long spoke to how serious he was of wanting to not be involved but they kept pulling him back in!
The result was a unanimous declaration that Frey City was off limits to attacks and any member of their clan was to be left in peace!
Lind Frey did not ask for it but did not object. After all that chaos, the Alliance was basically dead. Frey City became the home of the now Immortal Starfire House. Auction house branches spread and no one could stop them.
It made it clear how in demand the clan's items were.
Now it was now 6000 years after the Celestial Fields opened once more and life was returning everywhere but all knew chaos was on the rise as beasts and forests grew in power beyond any hope of control. It was only a matter of time before war broke out and no one could stop it.

A young man with black hair in crimson robes walked down the halls of his clan. He looked grim as he headed deeper until he finally came to an ornate sliding set of doors with a dragon head on each one in emerald color with black behind them.
Only 1 person had such a decoration on their doors. He sighed before going to knock when a voice entered his mind.
[Hei, I am awake.] Hei blinked his black eyes and slid open the door to find his father in a lotus position cultivating. He was at the peak of the low Shard Tier which was a terrifying speed according to Lady Delenn.
Compared to how his father told him struggled, his speed had begun to increase but he could no longer really explain to others easily how he did it. The accumulation of all his knowledge was clearly aiding him now.
Other 6 elementals were equally terrifying in their speed but nowhere near his.
"Father!" He bowed low at his waist but then heard a snort from his father.
"You only get formal when you want to give me a headache. What is it this time?" An amused tone came from him and Hei could only smile as well. He was not wrong after all.
"I–I want your permission to go to Rasker." His Father opened his emerald eyes in confusion until a wide smile spread across his face.
"Finally worked up the courage?" Hei wanted to smile. He really did but he could not.
"No, Father. I was invited to a party to meet–to meet her fiancé." Silence descended in the room as the temperature dropped sharply.
Space was suddenly torn open and Hei had no time to blink before the clan faded around them and they were in a special room to allow Immortals to arrive in Rasker!
What was his Father doing?!
A guard in bronze robes ran up before kneeling before them.
"True Lord Frey, welcome to Rasker! What is your business here today?" Deep respect was in his voice as all the guards knelt.
Lind's cold voice caught them all off guard.
"I want to see Kyren in the next 5 breaths or I will become very cross." A messenger shot off before anyone even gave an order. Lind had such power in Rasker.
Hei became pale but said nothing. He had screwed up! He should not have mentioned the message but it was too late. Now, his Father would unleash a storm once more!
