Chapter 910 - 909 - Old Promise Kept
Chapter 910 - 909 - Old Promise Kept
The smoke from a furnace flew up from the roof in the strange alley. A woman with broad shoulders and powerful muscles was hammering metal into the shape of a long shield as she carefully fused elements into it.
It had been one of many projects she made to teach others but lately she had been left alone. The Moebius Sect worked with her to send a few students her way that were worth her time but a war had broken out.
The world was never at peace forever and new powers tried to replace the old or 2 old monsters went at it to cause chaos.
What was it currently? She furrowed her brow as she tried to recall what caused it but it did not matter. She would endure no matter what. No one lived in the world that could harm her home let alone herself.
Delenn wiped sweat from her brow before she sensed someone in the illusion side of her alley. She glanced up and saw a wounded boy collapse. Concern flashed over her eyes as she transformed into a homeless vagabond.
Her rags covered her form as she walked out and examined the boy. He could be no more than 11 or 12 years old. His arm was broken with bright blood still flowing and his simple wool shirt and pants spoke of common birth.
She felt Soul Realm strength but only the 1st or 2nd Tier.
He was dark haired but it might be blood making it dark from the red on his face. His skin was dark but mostly from exposure to the sun. The calluses on his fingers showed he was used to manual labor.
He looked up in fear at her but then relaxed to see her.
"What are you running from boy?" He shivered but then whispered a word.
"Imperium." She frowned. The political landscape had no effect on her so she ignored it but she still needed to stay current.
"Ah, the Rakathi Imperium?" He slowly nodded. She saw he was close to fainting so placed a low grade 1 elixir in front of him. The bright blue bottle had hope bloom in his dark eyes and he downed it quickly.
Unlike a pill, the elixir did its work automatically even at grade 1. Restoration elixirs were very popular over their pill counterparts due to that.
"They attacked the Stardust Emporium on the plains to the east but so many died. We saw it all and lost hope." Delenn felt shocked.
Cimmeria was a powerhouse for many reasons but mostly due to its neutrality. It was agreed they welcomed all so long as the rules were followed. Further, supreme powers backed it, so what happened?
The Divine Sword Sect and Heavenly Maiden Sect were scary enough but the Moebius Sect was in charge of a whole continent in the north! Those 3 were unbeatable so what was the Imperium thinking?
She did not bother asking the boy as such things would be beyond him. She simply picked up his now sleeping form and secured him in a bed. He would still wake up in the illusion but he would be safe.
She returned to her furnace and used some artifacts to reach out to the world. The Divine Sword Sect did not answer but the Heavenly Maidens did.
[Senior, how can we help you?] A very young voice came through which surprised her. Had the previous owner died already?
Her concept of time was skewed even stuck in a mortal world.
[Yes, I understand Cimmeria has been attacked. What is going on?] There was a very long pause before an older voice came back.
[Senior, I am afraid that is correct. The Imperium has taken advantage of the migrations to strike when we were unprepared. Only Moebius Sect was able to respond but the Imperium hid their foundation well. They have far more Sky Realms than we ever realized.]
Delenn narrowed her eyes. She was not surprised about Moebius Sect but what was that about migrations?
[Senior, I have to go. Something odd is happening on the battlefield. The reports sound like a secret weapon has been unleashed.]
The connection was cut but no one else answered. Whatever was going on, it seemed to be worldwide.
She cared for the boy for a few days and he recovered nicely but refused to leave the alley. It caused no harm so she let him be.
Food would 'coincidentally' be found in trash bins but the boy never questioned the quality being so high for trash.
She wondered if the battle had led to the end of the powers that had settled after the last great war. It sounded bad if the powers had let their elites leave the lower world behind.
It also meant that the Floating Isles had to be involved or they would be able to send material support without much difficulty.
The supreme powers were supreme for a reason after all.
She knew none could affect her. She needed no food, water, or any treasure they could produce in the mortal realm. She was a Crystal Tier and thus beyond such things. She was stagnant on her cultivation but was still relatively young for an Immortal.
It was the 7th day after the boy arrived that something changed. The weaving hanging in the air at the back of the alley vibrated before it began to glow and she felt a change! Was it going to break down?!
If that happened. The Qi inside her would wipe half the continent off the world!
That was the best result too! The worst was if the weaving became imbalanced and tried to suck all the Qi up in the world! It would make it barren in a matter of days!
She could do nothing but watch as the sigils flared before settling down once more. She used her aura but felt nothing had changed except when she probed the only entrance.
It seemed different but she could not pin down how. It was only when a man stepped into it that shock filled her!
He was an Immortal! A Shard Tier but still an impossible being! Had she lost her mind at last?!
The figure was in simple crimson robes lined in black and gold. It was familiar but took a moment to place.
Impossible!
"Hello, are you ok?" The man spoke to the shivering little boy and knelt down to him. A fresh treat of some kind was produced but the only item she saw was the black ring on his right hand.
The ring made a shiver go down her spine for some reason but then an image appeared in her mind.
It was from over 6000 years ago. A young man she had enjoyed teaching had sworn to return and rescue her.
Tears formed as his voice was a bit deeper and other things were odd but when the emerald eyes looked right through the illusion at her and smiled, she collapsed.
"Master, it is time to leave. I had an unexpected detour on the way here but it is all taken care of." Lind Frey stood in front of her as the little boy stared in awe at her.
"How–how are you here?" He smiled and held out his hand.
"You can leave now. I can do it as I promised but it will be a bit boring after living with mortals." She shook her head and quickly gathered all her tools and materials.
They walked to the entrance but rather than the street she expected, a massive object was floating just above the roofs!
It had drawn a crowd but Delenn felt true shock as the power coming from it was clearly grade 7! How could it be so stable?!
She then saw Lind kneel down once more.
"You can come with us or I can take you to your family. Which do you want to do?" The boy shook and then began to cry.
"They died. They died protecting me." He nodded and patted his head.
"Come with us then." He floated up with the boy in his arms before looking down at her. She carefully used her Laws to fly up and only realized then that Immortal Qi was all around her!
The feeling of moving between one density and the next never happened as they quickly came up to a hatch. Once inside, she saw a ward snap into place. She saw a young woman with fiery hair that she recognized on site.
"A phoenix?!" The woman smiled and bowed to her.
"True Lord Frey, the ship is ready." A man spoke up that she recognized as a dragon in human form! The title made her snap her head at Lind who smiled and shrugged.
"A lot has happened but we have time. First, let me take care of this." He then turned back to the open hatch and his fingers glowed with profound soul power.
The alley that had sat for millions of years in Cimmeria began to shake before all the Immortal Qi was collected into the vessel they were on. The binding fell away and it became a normal alley at long last.
Delenn felt her emotions were unstable but she was free! She was finally free!
"What about the war?" She recalled what happened but the phoenix and dragon giggled at her question.
"Ah, Master, we took care of that on the way here. The Floating Isles was also at war and it was partially my fault. The Celestial Fields reopening created a demand that flowed all the way down to the mortal realms. It was unexpected and some took advantage of it." He then looked grim as he brought up a display on a jade panel.
"They called themselves the Rakathi Imperium. They are gone now." The ship began to ascend and she saw Cimmeria had suffered severe damage but survived.
Blasted areas also became clear to the east and she could see all the way to the other 2 continents before the world blurred around them.
They were suddenly in a very different place where lands extended to the horizon. It was the Heaven Realm lands! How had they gotten there so quickly?
"I am ready to jump one more time." The phoenix spoke up and Lind smiled.
"Don't push yourself too hard Feng and thank you again for the help." The woman smiled wide before the ship moved again and a very strange sight appeared in front of her.
It was a gigantic plain that stretched to the horizon! Lind then opened the hatch and she saw no ward activated.
"Master, welcome back to the Celestial Fields." Tears fell as she flew out and while it was far lower density than she was used to, she was in the sun!
The breeze touched her cheek and she saw a sprawling city beneath her! She was free! She was finally free!
