Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 779 - 778 - Sliver

Chapter 779 - 778 - Sliver

Lind had a strange but enjoyable month.

Shoti had started it off but all of them in one way or another got him to finally relax.  It had helped immensely.

It was a bad habit of all cultivators to get obsessed with their progress at times and ignore relaxation or simple distraction that they all needed.  He was no different.

The moment he relaxed his dantian had transformed.

The once vague shape was now much clearer and it was obvious he had been the cause of it not coming together.

He had a 7 sided sliver taking shape.  He could not tell more than that for certain but it gave him a much better focus than before.

His Laws were condensing nicely around it.

He thought it would trigger his tribulation but the moment the shape formed, it calmed down which told him had to pick apart the key piece of an Immortal.

The sliver itself.

He had thought he understood it as simply the next step in cultivation for the dantian but it seemed there was more to it.

"So it is not simply the condensing of Laws into the sun but something more."  He knew the characteristics of Immortals as well so he had some leads but it still was clear he did not grasp it well enough or some other aspect of his cultivation.

He did not lack for help on asking questions but he wanted to actually avoid that first.

The plain fact was he was too far removed from normal cultivators so instead he went to someone that was much closer to him in current cultivation state.

Kexin was nowhere near finishing her Laws but he still sat down to talk with her.

"Your wives should focus on that Art to kill with glares.  It would be quite effective if made active."  He sighed at her joke but when he explained what he was doing to his wives, they really had given him stares that should kill instantly.

He explained that he needed a 6 elemental perspective to narrow down what he wanted to ask them and it mollified them.  He hoped.

He really hoped.

"Kexin, you and Kal should really stop hiding your relationship."  His words made her flare in black flames but he merely laughed.  Her lavender face darkened immensely in embarrassment.

"How did you know about that?!"  He smirked but did not even remotely feel the desire to point out she and he were not exactly master spies!

Tessa had been on the edge of life and death yet had held on thanks to Kexin helping him.

It was quite obvious to him also due to the fact his draconic senses could not help noticing certain things!

"Anyway, I want to talk about your grasp of your harmony and Laws."  Kexin became serious at his words and they talked but since he taught her, there was not much that was new for him.

Comprehending the Laws until they fully formed and condensed into the sun was the same.  The harmony being incorporated into all of it was par for him too.

It did not help at all which frustrated him.

"I am not sure what you expected, I mean that vague shape is just barely visible to me in the last few days."  He snapped up at her words.  He had not asked about that!

"Describe it to me, please."  She looked up at him and understanding flooded her narrow face.

How had she overlooked that aspect of it all?!

"Well, understand it is only vaguely there but it is 6 sided with a core at the center of it."  Her words perked him up immediately.  That was what he was looking for!

She also had a 7 sided sliver!

"I feel like each element resonates slightly as it becomes more solid."  Her words made him freeze.  He did not feel that at all!

He had at first thought that was the case but his sliver imprint hardly reacted to his natural elements or a combination of his 18 elements.

Nothing made it advance so he was stuck at the moment.

"Try to describe that effect for me."  Kexin contemplated his request before answering.

"I feel like the Laws are building the shape of it but need my elements to forge the content of it with my harmony at the core like always.  I could feel it react when that thought came to me."  Lind nodded as that made perfect sense but why was he not having a similar result?

His sliver was a similar shape but was not reacting the way hers was.  What was he missing?

He had more elements but using them in conjunction did not work so what was he getting wrong?

It gave him the lead he was looking for!

"That was very helpful, Kexin, thank you."  Lind bowed to her and then practically ran off!  He had some experiments to run!

Combinations were not correct so he had to try a different approach!

He got no reaction trying to replicate his current condition with his sun.  It was still primarily made up of natural Qi and his harmony but demonic and celestial Qi connected the rest.

It did not work when he tried to alternate natural and demonic Qi with Celestial in the divides between each facet.  It did nothing to advance his realm.

What was he missing?!

It was so damned frustrating to be so close but be so far!

"Still stuck?"  Kora found him cultivating in his courtyard.  He had no doubt he looked frustrated as hell.

He looked up and smiled at her golden colors tinged in black.  She sat next to him and patted his head of all things!

They both broke out into laughter at the same time but he felt a little better.

"Kexin actually helped narrow down my problem but any combination I try fails.  It is like there is something I am missing critical to my next step but I am running out of ideas."  His frustration was clear but Kora looked confused.

"Why are you forcing something your instincts should be able to guide you to?"  He was no longer a novice.  He had hoped the combination of his Talent and draconic instincts would fill in the gaps but Heaven was not so kind.

An Innate Cultivator would advance like water downhill inside a given Realm but to ascend was all on the cultivator themselves.

There was no free lunch after all.

"I tried that but nothing happens.  It is something on the conscious level this time I think."  She nodded but it was not her specialty.  She was better at battle overall.

"Well maybe you should stop forcing it to mimic your sun so much.  The sliver is very different from the sun.  It is built of the soul infused with the elements after all."  Her words made Lind freeze in place.

Was he an idiot?  Yes, yes he was.

He had focused so much on the 6 facets for the elements, he had ignored the 7th!

He closed his eyes and focused on his soul alone.  Inside his sun, there was the slumbering dragon but he carefully resonated it with the sliver and had some reaction yet still it was not enough, but he at least felt a direction.

Emerald light lined each facet so he had been wrong about the placement of the Celestial Qi.  He then had a thought.

Celestial Qi was what refind natural Qi into demonic Qi.  So rather than separating each facet with combinations of demonic and natural Qi, he was literal about it.

First at the top, Celestial fire next, and then cold fire at the bottom.

The instant he did that his ghostly sliver began to become much more solid!

"Kora, you are a genius!"  His harmony unified it all as always but also made up the core of the sliver.  His 6 facets had all 18 elements evenly distributed.  He was making it far more complicated than he had to!

Still, it was not stable at all.  He could feel the bottleneck between him and the Immortal Realm getting much thinner than before.  He just had to keep plucking away at it but incorporate his Laws into the process.

He was so close he could taste it but it was all vague shapes still.  His sun was the dominant part of his dantian but deep inside, parts of it were disappearing in preparation of his ascension.

The feeling was a bit like having eaten and knowing you should be full but dessert arrives and suddenly there is more room in your stomach.

His sun filled his dantian but more room was being made for Qi.

It meant part of his sun had already been condensed but the Laws gathering around the ghostly figure of his sliver.

He was a little over halfway!

He just needed to cross the tribulation threshold and it could begin!

"Come on, just cross it already!"  He could not force it but let his harmony shine as thought about the last part of his cultivation, his professions.

The instant he recalled the 3 small suns in his soul, it was like a dam broke open inside him.  Qi stormed his meridians to flow into his dantian.

Kora looked on with an affectionate smile and sent out a message to all her sisters and their children.

[It is time, he is ready.]
