Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 780 - - 779 - Sands of Tribulation

Chapter 780 - - 779 - Sands of Tribulation

Lind had wondered how it would feel to be on the cusp of Immortality.  He had always felt like he sort of missed the actual experience of preparing to progress as it was done in desperate situations or it just happened before he could process it!

The Soul Realm and Heaven Realm were exceptionally like that.  He simply became a Soul Realm by going through an internal thought problem about his lessons and suddenly had the Elemental Cores.  He had watched Illyria breakthrough and he was suddenly a Star Tier fighting to hold on long enough to pass along what he could grasp.

By the time things calmed down, he was tossed into a Law Binding hell and was a Moon Tier!

His advancement of the World Realm was under extreme pressure where his very life was on the line but at least he consciously made the choice to advance.  Still, most of his progress was good fortune and a lot of rough encounters.

The Sky Realm was just a nightmare thanks to his weaving.  He focused so much on that that he seemed to fly through it once he got weaving figured out.

The Immortal Realm would be the first time that he was truly choosing to face a tribulation and going to a place prepared for it!

He shook his head as Lian piloted the skyship.  He could not fly as his Qi was trying to push him to the next step.  Even using his dragon flying ability could trigger it at that point.  They were deep in the desert already so he felt safer but he saw the many teams preparing.

If he was wrong about what was coming, he would be embarrassed but happy about it, yet he did not feel like it was wrong.

He could almost feel the joy of Heaven but it was being drowned out by a lot of pressure building above and inside him.  He could see many cultivators had to move farther and farther away from him yet all in the ship felt fine.

He filed that little detail away for later as to why that would be true and at least saw their destination.

The sand was usually a golden color or glittered with the glass specks that resulted from the tribulations they had out there.

The current area was startlingly thin on Qi compared to anywhere else but the sky ships had enough reserves.

"Good luck, Master."  Lian spoke up softly as he smiled at her.

"Get the ship out of here quickly.  I will hold off as long as I can."  He felt alright inside the ship but the moment he stepped outside, the tension would skyrocket.

All his wives said the same thing.  They went from brushing the barrier to suddenly having to hold back an avalanche of power.

His felt like the end of all things but perhaps it was simply the bar of comparison he had in his head was so damned high.

The hatch swung open and instantly shimmered as black clouds began to gather.  He smirked as he hopped out and his body suddenly felt very tense.  The seed shaped vessel took off quickly and he kept an eye on it as best he could but his dantian was burning.

The sun was trying to condense to the sliver but it needed more power.  He had debated transforming but he could not risk it yet.

He was too big to be carried by a ship if he changed anyway before.

He was about to settle down when he felt a strange pull towards the center of the off white area.  His tension faded a bit as he turned towards it so he happily moved.

If it bought time, all the better at the beginning.

The clouds also strangely became calmer which he found very odd.  Still, he took the gift of time until he got near the source of the feeling.

He did not see anything so used his Eyes.

Instantly they burned unlike any time before in his life but it was not the pain of seeing what he should not, he was getting overloaded!

Streams of Immortal Qi were just beyond his senses but his Talents could go beyond!

He eventually adjusted but then frowned.  It was powerful but hardly as much as it should be.  The ascension pools were usually bursting with the higher realm Qi but what he felt right then was just a lake at best.

How thin was the Qi in the Celestial Fields?

He pushed it aside as he tried to locate what pulled him to the area yet he could not find the source.  The feeling had sort of spread all around him.  He expanded his senses and suddenly smirked.

"The exact center huh?  This is the last place the realms connect it seems."  He was so close to the Immortal Realm he could sense it probably.  He wondered if he should move away, but the instant he tried to, he stumbled.

The pressure above jumped exponentially.  Heaven wanted him there.

"Ok, I got it.  No need to be so pushy."  The pressure lifted enough for him to move back and assume the lotus position.  It was times like that when he wondered if spirits were really watching him.

He focused on his body and dantian.  It was close now and the pressure was rising as he expected.

He did worry if he could hold on as Heaven seemed ready to celebrate at that moment but he still felt danger too.

"So let's get started."  He could not hold back anymore and released the tension.  He expected the clouds to thicken but instead they settled down immediately!

He looked up and felt all the tension in his body fade away.  Colors began to dance in the sky as the clouds spread.  He saw all 18!  All 18 elements danced in a wonderful pattern.

He involuntarily began to float and let it happen as one shaft after another struck his body.  His flesh was no barrier but the feeling of joy was far beyond any previous tribulation.

Each beam of Qi hit his dantian but his harmony flared up as well as his soul.

A faint dragon roar in jubilation could be heard as his sun shrunk and his body seemed to be gently rebuilt from the ground up.  All impurities were shed as he became an Immortal.  All the fantastical storms and wild events around his wives were missing.

He smiled as his body and dantian ascended in perfect sync.  After the 18th bar of Qi touched him, he felt like his soul finally could be fully grasped.  He was now actually using his new body but no longer needed it to survive!

How was the rest of the area doing?

Shi had come with a few ministers to organize their efforts to contain whatever happened but they were floored by what actually happened.

It was not a storm but a blast of complex elements that left all in awe.  Shi felt like her questions about her path forward as an Immortal were simple and a smile stretched across her face without her notice.

The Qi actually condensed massively in joy into the Sands of Tribulation as a bright ball of light lit up the horizon.

Annabelle and Kora were there too and felt a blush spread as the love of Lind hit them at the same time as the light.

"I can hear the spirits cheering."  Soltara stood nearby and felt like she could almost see them too.  Annabelle nodded in awe as she too could hear laughter and her heart raced.

The effect spread far beyond the desert and reached the Line.

The Fiends' attack broke instantly as they burned!  Heaven was not angry but the complex elemental light was far more devastating than anything else they had ever felt.

Widow and Mycea smiled unlike their underlings.  It had started!  Only one being could cause such an effect!

"Have all forces pull back and create Voids of–"  Mycea was about to give orders but then an Immortal Fiend retched nearby but no light touched him.  WIthout pause, the pair withdrew and the very hall of black stone and blood red curtains was full of dying Immortal Fiends!

Why?!

"Your agent will kill him?"  Mycea was angry as she had not even felt the danger and still didn't.

"They are not tapped often but they have neve left me unsatisfied."  Mycea rolled her eyes but simply kept moving farther west.  They saw the world behind them returned to its natural beauty.

"Today is the day he dies, that is all I care about."  The losses could be recovered in time.  They both had enough time.

As they flew, however, the sky above began to change and a threat washed over them that made them shiver.

What was that?!  Why did they feel threatened as peak Sliver Tier Fiends?

Black clouds began to rumble as if to balance the joy earlier but it was sweeping inward from somewhere.

The sheer power left both in actual terror.  Just what kind of being could face up to that?!
