Chapter 771 - 770 - Molten Sect
Chapter 771 - 770 - Molten Sect
Lind was happy to be home but had hardly set down when he was in the throne room. Shoti and Annabelle were on his left and right respectively. Shoti was in a battle dress with the whip on her hip giving off a thread while Annabelle was a stark beauty of sapphire and gold.
Anyone that thought she was harmless would suffer greatly. The massive room had a plush gold carpet to the massive double doors of pale wood but the woman that entered looked haggard.
He could tell her primary elements were fire and earth but she had close cropped brunette hair with short sleeved robes at the elbows that would be good for craftsmen. She also had the color of yellow or gold on her robes with a basin of lava as her sect symbol on her right breast.
Her pale pink eyes were clear but the dark circles showed that even her peak Star Tier status was not enough to keep her going at the moment.
"Welcome to my audience hall, Envoy Mel. Please, state your business." Lind was austere and loud as the ministers and others settled on the left and right of the carpet.
The audience looked on as the woman knelt in supplication with her face all the way to the floor!
"Great Emperor Frey, our sect suffers from an external threat that seems to hate you. We are not equipped to handle it and ask for your help." The words sounded good but he narrowed his eyes.
The restrictions he put on Ulta made it so that even a high power should be able to deal with her, so what was the issue?
"Please explain yourself. What do you mean they hate me? Do you mean they are fomenting enmity with the Empire?" Lind did not reveal his knowledge as he wanted to see what the envoy would reveal.
Mel nodded quickly.
"She is a tyrant at the Shard tier able to command the elements at her whim!" Now his eyes truly narrowed. "Her skin is odd in that it shifts colors and 2 other women are following her from the same race."
The description matched but it confused him. Ulta, Elara, and Uri all had their skills locked by the punishment he put upon them. Their physical strength would still be there but the ability to command Qi?
"Describe as accurately as you can, what they did." He was missing something and if he had, it was entirely his fault.
His knowledge was far from perfect so if he missed it, he had to learn.
"Well, there were rumors of the 3 strangers in our area for some time but they were just that. Then, a few weeks ago, one of the major mining villages was taken over." She then outlined how several forces were sent, including one of their Immortals.
A prudent move. The etiquette between Immortals was clear and true battle was not allowed unless a criminal activity of life and death was in the offing.
Still, the result surprised them all.
The Immortal was killed on arrival! The Molten Sect was incensed and attempted to flatten the enemy but that was when they learned of the Shard Tier present.
No one could understand why they were there, but it was suicide to attack them. An appeal to the other powers was met with immediate action.
The Heavenly Maiden Sect dispatched Valkyrie but again, things did not go as planned.
There was no battle but that was due to the fact Valkyrie could not use her Qi at all! No matter what she tried, it failed or did not activate!
Lind felt a spark go off.
"Wait, the Qi did not work, or the elements did not respond as intended?" Mel paused as she quickly thought over the report.
"Um, ah, I think the report said it was like trying to summon Qi through a solid wall. Nothing was wrong but it would not work no matter what was attempted." Lind sat back on his throne.
"Senior Soltara, can Elementals command the very elements themselves?" Everyone suddenly noticed the woman in the corner as if they could not see her before. The instant Envoy Mel saw her, she paled!
"Not exactly, Emperor Frey. We can resonate with the elements in all Qi and read the intent in them. For cultivators, as you taught us, you have to channel the Qi through certain meridians and combine it with the elements your dantian possesses to create an effect." He nodded but then frowned.
"Ah, so that is what she is doing." It was a gap in his restrictions all right. Elementals were, as their name implied, literally elements.
Basically, cultivators had to hone sensing elements and control the Qi tied to each. The dantian held the majority of the elemental flavor if one wanted to break it down that way and the meridians carried the Qi from the dantian along specific paths to achieve the results desired.
Lightning was fairly straightforward in that it needed to use the heart and the mind to pulse the Qi out of the body. Without fire and light Qi and those pathways, it would not work.
What Ulta was doing was stopping the process at the source by resonating with the elements that made up the Qi or the wavelength to put it in science terms.
It would be like trying to swim but buoyancy was being manipulated despite nothing being done to the human body or water. Both were still the same property but the interaction no longer worked properly.
"Tck, she must have found out before taking that village." Envoy Mel was looking hopeful as the Emperor really did seem to know the foes of her sect.
"Proceed, what happened after that." She nodded and relayed the expected unfolding of events. Ulta gave orders and expected the sect to just follow her command.
The sect resisted and they all thought she was holding back to prevent further intervention from the Alliance. So long as no one else was killed, the collapse or rise of powers did not matter in the case of support sects.
The Molten Sect was but one of many and far from the Line so losing it to another powerful being would not really affect anyone as long as peace was kept with the neighbors.
Ulta was learning and hiding her weakness. She had learned a new trick, but that was all it was, a trick.
He knew a certain kind of cultivator it would not work on at all.
"Cyntilla, are the 3rd and 4th divisions up for some fun?" Lind had a smile on his face that made his wives smirk but everyone else shivered to see it. She smiled widely back as she nodded.
"Um, Emperor Frey, I know you have many Immortals but I do not believe you have any Shard Tiers aside from the esteemed senior. Also, we cannot let such a battle to unfold as the Alliance will not allow it." Lind sneered at her words.
"A battle, no, our Heaven Realm divisions will simply bring the pesky annoyances here to me!" Mel looked alarmed but even the ministers seemed concerned.
"Majesty, Heaven Realms cannot possibly stand up to Immor–" Thunder rumbled as a cloud literally appeared over Lind. His eyes turned into vertical slits.
"Ants do not need a hammer to kill them! I assure you, those 3 are ants hiding their weakness. Gravis!" A man stepped forth from the wall behind Lind and bowed low.
"Go bring those 3 back with the 2 divisions but you are not to interfere! Only protect the innocent from any battle that those 3 attempt!" Gravis smirked and turned to leave without pause.
He showed absolute faith in Lind's orders.
"Emperor Frey, even I am unsure if Heaven Realms can stop the restricted Ulta. Her physical strength is still far above them." Soltara expressed her concern but Lind actually smiled at her.
"Against normal cultivators, she would indeed continue to be a nuisance, but you see, the 3rd and 4th Divisions are a little special. Not only can they fight anyone in their tier and win, they can also fight above their realm working together." Murmurs went up when the Minister of Armies stood up and bowed to all.
"If I may, seniors and guests. The various divisions do decrease in strength as is the case with most powers, but Emperor Frey is correct that our 3rd and 4th Division is a little different. They are on par with the 1st and 2nd Immortal Divisions and have on occasion beaten them in mock battles." Shock flooded the crowd as none had heard of this!
Cyntilla laughed while Shoti looked smug next to Lind.
Lysanna just smirked while Annabelle looked full of pride. Ethry and Kora did not see why people were so shocked. Did they think they slacked just because things swapped from a sect to an Empire?
Lind was busy concentrating on the cultivation and development of Arts but also running the Empire. He had enough on his plate and trusted his wives and friends to help him with the rest.
The results were spectacular.
"All 15,000 of each division is a peak Sun Tier 6 elemental." His words made more than a few grasp their power but all still frowned. That did not seem to help at all with the issue outlined.
"Senior Soltara, please replicate Ulta's effect in this chamber. Just blanketing the room will be fine." Instantly, everyone felt exactly what Valkyrie tried to describe. It was like their danitan still circulated fine but they could no longer guide the Qi the way they wanted.
That was true for all but 3 people.
Emerald light lit up around Lind while Kexin had black as night flames around her and finally a young man with rose flames. All 3 of them conjured various Arts like it was nothing.
Shock flooded the room! Soltara looked floored in a way no one could fake. The 6 elementals could not be stopped!
