Chapter 747 - 746 - Demonic Immortal Tribulation
Chapter 747 - 746 - Demonic Immortal Tribulation
Despite ample opportunity to witness Immortal Tribulations, Lind had missed most of them in his initial grief and reconnecting with his family. Shi and Kin had long since had instructions from Lanbao how to prepare a field for a power to protect their members during breakthrough while not endangering the area.
It was hard due to the fact Immortal Tribulation was massive! Gold and Diamond Tier were dangerous but very small. If the cultivator was near the end of their potential it could even be mistaken for a simple storm!
Sky Realm ascension tribulations were terrifying to mortal realms but in the Heaven Realm were much the same as World Realms. Still dangerous and larger but easily contained with grade 6 artifacts.
Heaven Realms had no tribulations but could sometimes have effects from Heaven and Earth. The 6 elementals all had that. They practically skipped the Star Tier in a spectacular show of Qi and chaos before getting to the Moon Tier.
Still, such things were harmless to all but the cultivator involved. Some theorized that the reason Heaven Realm tiers had no tribulation was due to the transformative nature of each tier.
It was not simple compression and quality improvements but massive changes by adding elements and then integrating them was a realm long tribulation.
Once that was done, however, Heaven and Earth would once more make the cultivator overcome their judgment.
Lind stopped far from a massive wall created by evenly spaced poles and low grade 7 Qi connections between them. If a Heaven Realm tried to cross it, they would be knocked out cold as it was reacting to the pressure of Heaven and Earth!
Immortals could possibly force their way through but they would be suicidal to do so. It was the limit of the largest Immortal Tribulation ever recorded and then an extra kilometer on top of that.
Lanbao thought he was being paranoid in the design but his wife was proving that theory sound.
The roiling black clouds just barely stopped inside the fence!
He was shortly joined by Ethry, Kora, and Annabelle. The others were engaged with issues of the Empire so it was only they that would guard her.
Illyria suddenly showed up looking flushed from pushing herself. Lind smiled and waved her over. She had been out on a mission and training journey so it was nice that she was back.
"Why is the lightning violet in color? It is not a variant but the wrong color to my senses." He nodded at her words.
"Demonic lightning is a sign of a normal tribulation but I suspect it will not stay that way." One nice thing about Immortal Tribulations was that they were relatively simple compared to others.
World and Sky Realm tribulations judge every facet of a cultivator separately. The more profound one was, the harder the tribulation. Lind had personal experience with progenitor additions that were not in any way fun.
His Eyes and instincts told him the tribulation was gathering strength. If it was an average Immortal Tribulation, Cyntilla would face 2 to 3 rounds of 9 bolts of lightning. Each round would increase in power and profound level of Law.
That was the key. Law comprehension was needed for that very reason as the depth of the combination of Laws would decide the tribulation. Given the size of it, Lind suspected it would be far above average.
The other issue was endurance. Immortal Tribulations could take a long time but using any pills or elixirs could invoke the Wrath of Heaven. The cultivator had to face it alone and without aid.
There were always fools that thought they were above the rules and died for their arrogance.
Cyntilla had her 2 swords and a fierce smile as the clouds finally began to get far more dense and the lightning shifted colors to near black! For a demon, that was the same as blue lightning!
The first round began but Lind had no concerns. The power was terrifying but Cyntilla was far above that! She seemed to dance in the lightning but Illyria cried out and he shielded her. It was too dangerous for her to watch an Immortal Tribulation directly!
The power of raw Laws was unvarnished and without restriction. Having a Divine Bloodline made her vulnerable to them and could actually cause Qi deviation.
"Stay focused on us or the clouds but do not look at Cyntilla." His words helped her and she used an elixir to stabilize her condition. She was closing in on being an Immortal but he could help her later.
The first 9 bolts were hardly an issue and the tribulation seemed to take issue with that.
"It is shifting to a variant." Ethry spoke up and Lind became grim.. As the word implied, after the first round the tribulation would either continue or drastically shift. Clearly, Cyntilla was far more powerful than the standard.
Thus, the tribulation gathered far more power. How would it change? It was hard to gauge but he could see both gold and white lightning blending together. She was getting 2 rounds at once?!
Before it struck, Lind put up a black metal shield that raised a further barrier around them all. It was peak low grade 7 but it cracked from the very first bolt!
"Fall back and get the emerald cloaks to erect a barrier now!" His orders were to the group and into a bracelet. The guard showed up instantly and did their best but even their combined effort clearly strained them as the 7th bolt cracked even that barrier!
"MORE!" Annabelle started dropping formation plates like mad and profound Qi flew from them into the barrier. It was like a child trying to plug the dam but it held!
The gold and white bolts continued to devastate but he could not dare to look. So long as the tribulation continued, it would be fine!
The round finally ended but the clouds did not. She was alive! He quickly looked over and saw she was intact but exhausted. She was using battle breath to draw in Qi as quickly as she could as the tribulation shifted again!
Ethry, Kora, and Illyria all backed off suddenly and Lind transformed into his draconic form. He slammed all his harmony and every ounce of Law he had into the barrier as something came out of the clouds.
It was of all 6 demonic elements and looked like a giant wolf! What kind of tribulation was that?!
No record anywhere outside of a progenitor had such an effect but Cyntilla was not a progenitor. None of his wives were. Ethry and Illyria might face such tribulations but it would depend solely on the depth of their Laws and bloodline!
Did the Fang Clan have some ancestor he knew nothing about?
The creature was lethal and ripped the sky like it was paper but Cyntilla brought out her full Art. She seemed to transform into a wolf herself but the illusion was shattered with a mere wave of the paw of her opponent.
Law! It was actually a full Law! What Law was that?! Lind worried as the power of the thing was straining the barrier and had already melted the fence to slag!
[Awooooooooooo!] A chill filled the air as another wolf appeared from the clouds. It was another one! It was more powerful too!
Worry began to fill Lind but he had no power to interfere. Even Fey, the strongest Immortal they had, would be a plaything to those wolves!
Cyntilla looked so small but she was smiling as blood trickled down her face. She looked like she was about to be squashed like a bug but did not back down.
[I love you, now kick their ass!] He sent one message, and dared not send more as the pressure almost shifted to him.
Qi exploded from Cynitlla far beyond a Sun Tier level as she roared her own shout and charged the wolves. Before, it was just an illusion of transformation but the Qi actually took on the shape of a massive lavender wolf!
The 3 beasts clashed over and over. It was only after the 5th attack that Lind noticed the wolves were weakening!
It did not answer why there were 2 of them but hope bloomed as the first wolf became nothing to Cyntilla yet a cornered animal was at its most dangerous when there was nothing left.
They proved the point as she closed in on the weakest one but it suddenly snapped at her throat, yet the shape vanished! Cyntilla smirked as the other wolf dropped from the sky at the perfect time to be destroyed by the first wolf!
She had lured them into a fatal mistake when they thought they were luring her! The first wolf lost all its power and dispersed while the other fell apart as if the attack had been lethal as it would be in flesh and blood.
Rather than vanishing, the Qi streamed into Cyntilla and seemed to strengthen her but it was not over.
If Lind was correct, each wolf was a round and that made 5! She had faced 5 rounds of tribulations and given him a lot of questions, but the clouds boiled as deep crimson lightning gathered.
Its power was terrifying but Cyntilla just picked herself up and readied her swords. The first bolt of crimson was stronger than all the previous rounds combined! The next bolts sent Cyntilla slamming into the barrier but it barely held.
Lind felt his Qi nearly depleted when prismatic Qi began to help him. A massive cloud of golden Qi came on top of that.
They now had 3 divine beasts holding back the pressure of the terrifying tribulation.
At the 7th crimson bolt, cracks appeared as Lind felt blood come out of his eyes and ears. Ethry was barely holding on and Kora had to stop. Was there no end?!
Finally, the 9th bolt fell as a massive wolf appeared with 2 gigantic fangs clamping down on it. It shattered with the bolt as Cyntilla was revealed with barely any armor left. Both her swords were just dust in the wind as she stood up weakly facing the clouds.
Lind was out of Qi and the barrier collapsed but sunlight pierced the clouds. A single ray of it illuminated Cyntilla and she never looked so beautiful.
All her injuries were healing as her body seemed to shed the mortal coil. Her body became glorious and exuded a power he was more than familiar with. An Immortal. Cyntilla had become an Immortal!
He weakly flew over to her as the clouds dispersed and reached her in time to catch her. His Eyes just barely saw her dantian had a massive sliver inside but that was not the most shocking thing.
The imprints of 2 wolves were on 2 of the 4 sides of the sliver! He had never heard of that! He gathered her up and was glad to see a skyship come flying down and Lian appeared to collect them all.
The tribulation had drawn the eyes of all the powers but even Lind did not have all the answers. Still, he was smiling as he held his wife. She was alive and an Immortal! The rest would follow but they had many preparations to make!
He would not make the same mistakes again! They flew back to the capitol and prepared for the many guests no doubt on their way. It was only on board that he learned they had been engaged for nearly a month in that tribulation!
He frowned deeply as it did not seem that slow but it was added to the list of things he needed to understand before the next person attempted to go through it.
