Chapter 748 - 747 - Laws of Arts
Chapter 748 - 747 - Laws of Arts
The successful tribulation of Empress Cyntilla of the Sanctuary Empire had shaken the entire Heaven Realm lands. Even the Fiends did not dare to step foot near it as the power was that terrifying.
All knew she succeeded as the joy and celebration was impossible to hide from even a child. The first new imperial Immortal since Fey was a big deal, yet that was not what had every power sending envoys to the Empire.
In the month the tribulation had unfolded, strange things had occurred. The size was but one aspect but it was acceptable. Size of tribulation was something to brag about but only in conjunction with power.
A tribulation could smack around a cultivator and they would spread the clouds but that was nothing to really draw attention.
Cyntilla's tribulation, on the other hand, had been felt so far away and through so many defensive wards that it shocked ancestors and elders alike in all powers. The farther away reports came in, the more worrying people did.
That kind of power was either certain death or a trial for a cultivator unheard of even in legends. She was already a formidable and strong deterrent warrior that no sane person would cross.
Now, she was an Immortal, the near pinnacle of their world but it seemed she was above even that! The other thing that drew attention was the fact there had been no sign of her nearing that breakthrough.
For most of the information networks, she had been comprehending Laws one day and suddenly breaking through the next.
The final information on the tribulation left all in shock that got it. A few even refused to believe it as it was too fantastical, but the rumors were persistent and similar enough that a grain of truth had to be there.
Many went diving into their most ancient of records since no living Immortal could recall such a strange tribulation.
It was actually a rather reclusive power under the Divine Sword Sect that found a reference they quickly had relayed to Emperor Frey. They were close friends politically so there was no need to hold back.
Lind was reviewing the slip as he sat next to the sleeping Cyntilla. It had been a week but she showed no sign of waking up. It was not unusual for an Immortal to sleep post tribulation but the length varied wildly.
The transformation into an Immortal was extremely draining but it also was not immediate. It started right afterwards and continued for some time. Once body and soul were back in sync, she would awaken.
"So Mom triggered a tribulation based on her Art?" He nodded as Syrilla sat next to him. The other kids and wives stopped by but chaos was unfolding as envoys arrived in droves. Some were friendly and actually were helping but others came to stir up the dust and get what they could.
A few also had open hostilities but could not fight so they simply had drunken brawls. The drunk part was merely used as an excuse.
Still, plans were already shaping up once Cyntilla awoke.
"Indeed. The description matches what I saw. Some Arts become Laws or were Laws and unknown until faced in the tribulation. The Fang Clan special Art always made her seem like the jaws of a wolf closing over her enemies but in that tribulation, she seemed to grasp it." The Qi transformed because it was the Law.
It made Lind very curious about other Arts and very wary as well. It was essentially an accident that it was discovered. There was no way to know until in the tribulation and the Law could be stimulated right then.
He doubted it was so haphazard since Cyntilla had exquisite control to the point she could fight 2 at once!
His best guess was since it was a dual wielding Art, the tribulation used 2 rounds to face her.
He was unsure but would discuss it with her later. Syrilla was holding her hand and he patted her head. She was prideful at times but in moments like this she was still a young girl.
Lind studied the slip more to pass the time.
[Laws of Arts are difficult to find due to the myriad number of Arts created by cultivators. Uniqueness is not enough though as some Arts are only possible through limited combinations of elements. None of those become a Law but a few common threads lead to a suspicion that Arts that fundamentally can use any element combination are more likely to be Laws than others.]
That last paragraph made Lind narrow his eyes. Cyntilla's battle Art could indeed use any elemental combination.
In her hands it had been lethal with even a scratch due to poison and acid imbued into them. Cold flame and shadow could be terrifying as they would be both hard to follow and destroy any armor with ease.
Once she had all 6 demonic elements, she had become death on 2 legs from all he had seen and heard.
The issue, however, was if that definition was true, there was an entire subset of cultivators that needed to take a serious look at their Arts.
Many of them mimicked nature but a few were simply changes to existing Arts. He was less worried about those as many cultivators had used them and none had ever triggered such a tribulation.
Cyntilla had made it to the 6th round of tribulation and there were enough records to show reaching that level made her an elite. Only a handful of legendary people had gone beyond that at the Sliver Tier.
The engraving was approved by Heaven and Earth for her Art. She had, in other words, confirmed she had grasped the Law of her Art. She would become even more terrifying than ever before but she would need some special swords to pull it off.
Lind smirked as he would get to experiment once more with low grade 7 materials!
If his theory held true, however, a serious review of all Arts that any element could be used needed a deeper look.
The Storm Art Series was the most problematic. It was not impossible that those could be Laws or perhaps a combination of them.
Still, given the rarity, he might be overthinking it as they had cobbled the Arts together. The updates from his old mortal realm told him the Arts were evolving and he had every hope they would surpass him on that front as he had no gift for them.
He dearly wished Wyndam was still alive but there was nothing he could do about it.
A sudden twitch caught his eye as virulent green eyes looked around before locking on both of them. Lind acted quickly to protect Syrilla until Cyntilla brought her aura under control.
"Hello husband, daughter. How long have I been stuck here?" Both smiled at her sarcastic tone but hugged her first which made Cyntilla realize it must have been scary.
"We have much to discuss but a great many people came to see you. A week is long enough to rest so now it is time to assert your authority." Lind smirked as he saw her roll her eyes at his dramatic words. He had to have some fun with this!
"Exactly how many?" He became serious at her question before whispering the answer. He may as well have said it louder as her voice tore through all the wards.
"1500 envoys?!" It was likely not the true number as it was constantly updated but that was the last one Lind got. He also suspected more than a few just sent spies to watch the festivities.
He also may have neglected to include friends that had come on their own.
He just did not know how many had come as Lysanna and Qing had allowed him to be near her as his strength was comparable while Fey was called back to keep security tight with the guards.
"Let's get into a bath and we can catch you up!" He swept her up and she had far more than enough strength to stop him but it was not her that put up resistance.
"F–F–Father! I can't get in the bath with you!" Lind looked blankly at her for a moment before a giggle came from him. He shrugged and smirked at her.
"I will never force you at this age but we had many baths together. All of us did. You all splashed–" He was suddenly hit by dark light and poison! He was far more powerful but it still singed his robes!
"Stop teasing her. It was a good time but it is long over. Eldrian could still bathe with us though?" A sparkle came into her eyes but Lind shook his head.
"He is napping at the moment but maybe later. Ya know, since we will be alone, we could work on the next one too?" A shout and a pillow thrown at him told him his daughter was not amused!
Cyntilla actually blushed deeply but did not say no!
"NOPE! No bath for you Father, I will take Mom. OUT! OUT NOW!" Lind roared in laughter but felt it wise not to test himself and Cyntilla as his draconic instinct could be roused in the bath without question if his daughter was not present.
"Very well, but cover all of this with her and relax." He passed a high density jade slip and Syrilla nodded before shoving him out the door. Lind giggled as the door closed only to find Shoti tapping her foot outside the door.
"Had fun, did we?" All the joy went from Lind. He was in trouble now.
"Just a little. Cyntilla is awake and getting a bath. I was not allowed to go with her." A smile tugged on his face but Shoti did not seem amused.
It was then that her scent entered his nose. A cold sweat broke out on him as a smile that was not a smile crossed her face.
"You won't resist, will you?" Shoti was scaring the crap out of him but he had no way to back off.
"I would never resist but the timing is a little–" Shoti suddenly summoned 6 whips that tied him up neatly and hauled him off.
"I think you have been too busy and were about to be extremely busy. I finally have a good day for it and I will not pass it up. Let's go!" None of the guards lifted a finger as their Emperor was hauled off by his wife.
They wanted to live to see tomorrow.
