Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 696 - 695 - Abandon All Hope

Chapter 696 - 695 - Abandon All Hope

Kora lived but suffered massive Qi deviation even with the karmic restitution.  It was clear living was a miracle enough after such a risky choice.  She was recovering but would be out of the fight.

It was not only her.

Ethry was suffering some punishment in her own cultivation and could not summon her full power without coughing up blood.  Illyria was only minorly injured but she was not a Sun Tier either so her contribution was limited to begin with.

None of the others involved were too badly injured save Reya but that was due to her fight with the Fiends, not the anger of Heaven.  She had to imbibe a Restoration and Recovery Elixir every day as the Fiend Qi was still in her body.

It was being removed carefully as if they did it too quickly, she would be crippled as a cultivator.

Since the tribulation had wiped out a massive amount of Fiends, it had been hoped by all they had a chance to recover, but Zerod had no such designs.  He wanted to achieve his goal and the last defenses were wiped out that could stop him effectively.

The Alliance did not want to sacrifice the Moebius Sect, but they could move back and secure a better defensive line if they did.  Many voices objected to such a move but not strongly.  They all knew the strange power of the Fiends might be exhausted once the Moebius Sect was gone.

Oddly, the Heavenly Maiden Sect was the most vicious about those that chose to abandon the Moebius Sect.  It was a supportive sect that had stepped up and made many major victories possible with their elixirs, artifacts, weapons, and even formations had snatched life from the jaws of death in uncountable ways.

The whole sect could not simply move either as there were many patients that could not be moved in time.  Their defenses were not bad at their sect as they were a floating landmass.  Still, all knew a Shard Tier would tear it apart like paper.

Valkyrie was better but she was one of 3 Shard Tiers left and she knew if she left her sect, the Fiends would happily attack her disciples enmasse.  Even with what she knew, she had to decide what to do.

Still, she had enough to honor trying to get a force to help them at least evacuate but that option was taken away as they debated.

The Fiends had quickly pushed through the final defenses to surround the Moebius Sect faster than anyone believed possible.  While the Alliance was powerful together, their politics and need to reach consensus could be used against them far too often.

"Sect Master, many of the disciples want to go to help them."  Romana was in a battle dress and Valkyrie knew what that meant.

"I will not stop any that want to fight in the Sky Realm and above but any below that are forbidden.  I also forbid any grade 7 masters with no disciples."  Romana smiled, her once youthful features were now grim and she had a scar over her eyes from where a Fiend nearly taking her head off.

"I hope to see you again!"  Romana bowed low before flying off.  At least 500 thousand women joined her.  Valkyrie could not help but notice most of them were Heaven Realms and Sky Realms that had been saved many times over by the Moebius Sect.

She recalled a rather stubborn ant defying her so long ago against a vile ally of the Fiends in a mortal realm.  His dark green eyes were firm and he had no respect for her status but now she sent a small prayer to the spirits.

"Give him strength in the days to come."  Valkyrie had already given up on the Moebius Sect surviving.  Some would escape, but how many were out of her hands.  She also assumed the women leaving would never return.

A Shard Tier Fiend was just that terrifying.

It was not just the Heavenly Maiden Sect, many powers had members leave en masse to go help the Moebius Sect in their time of need.  Old friends and new had spread across the Heaven Realm in the last 1400 years.

Lind Frey had planted seeds with no intent to collect but they all recalled what he had given them and the things he created.  He made miracles possible that none ever believed could happen before.

The 6 elementals were also concentrated in the Moebius Sect and they were ideal foes for the Fiends as well.  All understood more could be nurtured but the explosive growth in the Moebius Sect was still the best for them.

Still, no matter how many went, all had no doubt they were going to die.  A concentrated attack would be different but the Immortals could not leave their powers open to sneak attacks to defend one sect facing the now overpowered Fiend Immortals.

Inside the Moebius Sect, Lysanna sat quietly with her sisters.  She had tried to convince her brother and others to leave with the patients but in the time they argued, the Fiends had moved like lightning.

No one expected them to recover so fast nor to move directly for them with so many enemies on either side of their path forward, yet the hesitation of the other powers made it clear they were alone.

The fact that the Citadel of Light and Asura Sect died so easily and completely was acting like a sword over each of them.  The reason being that they had wiped out those sects and then nearly taken the entire healing camp that was much farther away by at least 4 days of flying!

The new versions of the Fiends made it clear the other powers wanted the Fiends to exhaust their rage at the Moebius Sect and establish a new line of defense farther east.

She could not blame them but it left her feeling frustrated.

"They are not blocking our communications.  Romana and others are collecting forces to the north.  Still, even if the numbers are right, we will still be only even with the lower realm Fiends.  No Immortals came."  Shoti let them know a few updates but it was as expected.

There were some that likely wanted to come but had been prevented.  The grade 7 experts studying the Gate of Heaven had long since left due to having no combat experience.

Also, the mountain was outside the Fiend encirclement so they did not know about it or they did not care since all their targets were in one place.

"When–"  Qing was about to speak when the room shook.  They saw the barrier flare with golden light far to the south of their meeting room.  They moved quickly and saw vile black flames trying to pierce their defenses.

"Well, they did not waste time."  Cyntilla began speaking into her bracelet but reports were flowing to them all.

[The Fiends are assaulting all gates!]

[They have begun attacking the barriers!]

[They killed the beasts trying to escape!]

The reports were all panicked until Cyntilla, Shoti, and Fey calmed them.  As their only Immortal, Fey was a true source of pride and calm at that moment.

Yet, they all knew she stood no chance against Zerod and at least 2 other peak Sliver Tier Immortal Fiends.  They all understood they were left to die.  They might be able to make a way out with a distraction but the group understood one fact.

The Fiends would not let any of them go for sure.

"We won't disappoint Lind by simply accepting this, right?"  Annabelle spoke up and they all smiled.  They may have not gotten to see him, but he was safe from the reach of the monsters at the gate.

They were also going to make those same monsters pay for every inch.

The dream they created in the Moebius Sect may not be able to exist in the future as it currently was, but so long as Lind lived, it could rise again.

They gathered their weapons and gave out orders.  The last battle of the Moebius Sect was about to begin.

Zerod was smiling like a maniac as he saw the formations spark and flicker in patches.  The barrier was actually a layered setup that was common to many sects.  It allowed a single formation not to fail so only a part of the barrier would collapse while the rest stood strong.

Against Heaven Realm or even a Sliver Tier Immortal, the barrier would be an obstruction that frustrated and likely repelled most foes, but not him!

His Qi flowed like a grim reaper to shatter one barrier after another when only half a day passed.  The Qi needed to resist him was just too great for any formation made by these ants to stop him!

"GO!  Kill all but my targets. Anyone that kills my targets will die!"  His voice boomed as the Fiends began to invade.  Arts and explosions followed as more barriers went up inside the inner areas of the floating landmass.

Zerod sneered as he unleashed all 6 Fiend elements into a storm of destruction.  The world groaned under his power as he far exceeded what should be possible but the Great One proved greater than Heaven and Earth!

"You cannot escape me today.  You have nowhere left to run!"  His boomed as more barriers flickered to his attack so that even Heaven Realm Fiends would be able to break through but then he saw black blood fly in the air.

His eyes narrowed as the vision ahead shimmered before an illusion fell away to reveal entirely intact barriers on the inner areas!  He had been tricked but it mattered not.  His Qi was recovering in a horrifying fashion as he pulled on all the lives around him.

"Your tricks will not save you either!"  A massive vile bolt of Fiend lightning tore across the sky and ripped space open as it passed.  The barriers shattered like glass and the screams of many could be heard.

It was a symphony to his ears.  He would kill them all today.  His vengeance would be complete!
