Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 695 - 694 - A Truth within a Lie

Chapter 695 - 694 - A Truth within a Lie

Lind looked carefully at the bound figure floating over the emerald water and recognized it as a Fiend!  Fiends could not make Law Cores so why was a Fiend being used there?

The pressure on him to advance had made him test the Law Core but his current circumstances seemed too good to be true.  He, a Sun Tier, was being allowed to break a Law Binding like it was a pane of glass?

His eyes narrowed as he stepped back from the bound figure.

"Oh?  I assure you there is nothing to worry your britches about here."  The annoying voice was starting to grate but Lind assumed the lotus position to carefully analyze his current situation.  "More thinking?!  Seriously?!"

He tuned it out and began to examine everything that happened since he touched the Law Core.

He felt a pulse, which he expected, but then his mind seemed to be assaulted by the very Laws in the Core.  Again, very much in line with what Lanbao laid out would happen if anyone other than an Immortal even attempted to move the Law Core.

Still, he had focused on his harmony and found himself in a strange alien beach unlike anywhere he had been.  There was a presence there claiming to be the voice of his Law.  A Living Law which he knew next to nothing save what Lanbao could impart to him.

The few Laws he had tried to touch on had left him drained and hollow for days after making grade 7 elixirs, Forging, or weaving.  Weaving had the best result due to his unique soul situation being a dragon.

Still, he would be a fool to take things at face value, yet until the figure appeared to give him a way to leave the Law Binding, his instincts felt like the voice was truthful if annoying.

So why did the presentation of the figure make Lind feel like he was walking into a trap?

It was a Fiend, a figure he hated from the bottom of his heart currently, but there was no reason for a Fiend to be in the Law Array or Law Core so it had to be an affectation.

What was the point of it?  Was his own Law testing him?

"HEY!  SOMETIME TODAY WOULD BE NICE!"  Lind was suddenly snapped out of his contemplation.  He looked around and found the water was moving a bit more violently but the figure was still just floating peacefully.

"If you are my Law, why are you so impatient and rude?"  It mystified him and likely was the source of his distrust.

"Sigh, I told you, I am as old as you are, how many obvious clues do you need?!"  The voice sounded very peeved with him but Lind was only confused.  How was his question so unreasonable when his mind froze.

Only as old as him?  Which him?  Both of his lives?!

"I know you are slow but for the love of all this is holy this is a new low."  Now Lind was annoyed.  Why did the voice act like it knew more than him?!  It was part of him!

"Ah ha!  Not quite smarty pants!  I am a Living Law of Heaven and Earth.  Do you know what your harmony even is completely?"  The teasing and superior quality irritated Lind even more until he realized he had heard that voice before!

Tears began to fall as Lind slowly stood up.

"My voice, that is my voice!"  He had rather clear images of his past life but audio was basically lost to him.  He recalled the words spoken, but not the sounds.  It was only at that moment that a very fierce memory of he and George arguing with the new girl over where to go to lunch.

Lind had argued for the local tavern while George just wanted pizza.  The new girl had claimed the tavern was amazing and wanted to go.  He had felt so superior and teased George in that same voice!

"Ah, there ya go!  Still, my question stands, do you know what a harmony is?  You think it is just a Law but my existence should make it clear that is not quite right.  So I know more than you!"  Lind narrowed his eyes.  A lie, he definitely felt a lie in a lot of truth at that moment.

That was why he disliked the figure in front of him.

It was a lie.

He finally grasped what he was speaking to.  It was a part of himself attached to the Law and gave birth to the Living Law.  Or maybe it was a Living Law that had taken a part of him for some reason.  To the best of his knowledge, Lanbao had only ever said Living Laws were found in special realms or possibly Inheritances by Immortal Cultivators.

Lind also realized he had felt them before long ago in his mortal realm.  Lord Skinwalker was pursuing a Living Law.  The Law of Life itself!

"FINALLY!  God you are still so slow and have to work it all out.  Take a risk like you used to!  Call down lightning without any surefire way to protect yourself.  That was a blast!"  Lind slowly stepped forward and touched the figure.

He smiled at it as it crumbled away like the illusion it was.

"Why do all this?"  Lind realized he was not being tested, he was being knocked on his back.  A good swift kick to the head it seemed.

"Sigh, just when I thought you figured it out.  You have been so focused on cheating your way out when you could leave any bloody time you wanted!  How did you get in, you idiot!"  Lind thought he had understood but he had slammed into the Law Binding several times so he knew he could not pass through it.

Yet, he had.

He had passed through it when he was forcibly ascended from the mortal realm to the Heaven Realm.  He felt the strength go out of his legs.

He could have left at any time!  He finally understood.

"Seriously, this much spoon feeding is what you need after all this time, you are getting dumber as you get older."  Lind wanted to deny the voice but he realized he was falling into the same issue as the exterior experts that could not replicate his work.

He was a cultivator and had lived long enough that their rules were dictating more of his thoughts when his life had been an act of defiance.  He had been the rogue but his theories were now mainstream or spreading as such.

He had become complacent!

"So, what are you going to ask me to do now?"  The teasing tone returned by Lind smiled as he held his hand up and emerald lightning began to explode outward.

"Not a damn thing!  I am leaving under my own power!"  The alien landscape finally shifted to a normal beach at that moment as a bolt of emerald light danced in the sky.

"You have been a most trying man and I am part of you!  Figure me out faster too as it is annoying helping you out!"  The smile on Lind widened.  He felt like he was facing Ryo all of a sudden and the weather was cooperating with him to make ideal conditions.

He had been able to leave 1200 years ago when he won the war but did not understand it.

Lanbao said it herself over and over.  Law Gates had to be built at the moment a Law Binding was created, but neither of them had considered a possibility since a new Law was added to the Law Core and Law Array.

What would Lind want more than anything to be added at the moment a new Immortal took over the Law Core?  What was possible in that moment that could not be done so long as Suzen was alive?

Linghu had trusted Lind and Lind had a deep seated desire just as the Living Law said.

He smiled as a column of emerald light exploded from him into the blue sky!

Lanbao and the others had no luck getting into the Core Room, which told them volumes about what was keeping them out.  The Law Binding was acting against them.  Suddenly, they all saw emerald light line the doorway.

They backed off as the door was blasted open but it was not lightning, flames, or even just light that came out.  Lanbao and Linghu acted quickly to protect the weaker members of their group as the power of Law came flowing out of the Core Room.

It arced through the air and left the special dimension as the entire lands below looked up in awe.

It was like a new star was falling down but those near the Gate of Heaven realized it was coming at them!

The stone circle, silent for a few decades, was covered in the light and began to transform.  It was painful to even look at the gate at that point but then the world began to shake.

The earth shifted as the stone and metal supports shattered like they were nothing as the circle began to spin!  It was being operated but how?!

The symbols vanished from the inner circle but it became impossible for the weaker cultivators to even glance at it.  Their eyes burned to even do so.

Each coordinate lock began to light up but how was that possible without the other end working?  They had tried several times yet it always stopped before crossing the last step.

As they felt the vibrations increase, none saw a single figure suddenly appear near the control panel.  His flowing black hair laced with emerald actually glowed in the light of the Gate of Heaven.

If any of them could see, they would find Lind Frey standing with a satisfied smile on his face.

"Law Gate of Harmony, open for me!"  His voice shouted and the gate shook as the final coordinate lock lit up.  The space inside the ring was torn asunder but it was not the silvery color or a window as they all expected but a pool of emerald light!

Lind smirked as he stepped up and went through the gate.  As he was about to leave he looked up and smiled before beckoning to the sky.  He then disappeared from the Law Binding at long last.
